Family owned bakery-not much left to choose from by early afternoon that must be a testament to how delicious things are. Brought back strudel and it passed the husband test!

My boyfriend is Hungarian and loves his rum cake so a stop at Lucy's is always a treat for us both. I love their chocolatey desserts while he always goes for the rum cake. We recently tried their strudel too and it was magnificient as well. We are hosting a party in the next month and are planning on ordering a couple of party platters filled with assorted desserts. I'm not sure how we're going to be able to choose which ones though because they are all fantastic.

You not only can't go wrong - you'll wonder why you haven't made it to this bakery before! Approaching Lucy's Sweet Surrender - you surrender to the very aromatic smells that you nose is drying to smell more of.
Our initial visit was to look for party trays for a party we were throwing for someone. We found some great trays at decent prices. They have so many and all are wonderfully prepared and so tasty.
One of them was very popular at the party and that was the Old World Style try. It consisted of items like their delicious Strudels, Poppy Roll, Nut Rolls, and cream cheese pastry, chocolate cookies, Szorbo's and something else which I have forgotten. Another item that was very well liked was their delicious Rum Cake. Actually we picked up many items for the party and they were all a hit.
One of my favorites is the Chocolate Mousse Torte. It is a 3 layered chocolate cake filled with tasty chocolate mousse, with chocolate curls and fruit brandy and more. I think it serves about 10 people or more but that depends if I will let them have any.

Lucys Sweet Surrender is an old-world Hungarian bakery on Clevelands East Side. While the neighborhood it resides in has changed quite a bit since its opening 50 years ago, the bakery itself hasnt changed a thing. While their buttery, flaky strudels, which are shipped all over the country, are the star of the show, Lucys other offerings like nut rolls and cream cheese pastries are also worth a sample.
