Up Up and Away has a good variety of new and old books to browse through. The store has a wide range of trade paperbacks to get your collections in order. Kendall Swafford does a good job of working with you to order what you need. The store also provides gaming and card collectables.

Best store by far that i have ever been to. The selection at the store is amazing and if you cant find it he will do everything he can to help. Just an all around good guy when it comes to taking care of his people and i would just like to personally thank him for everything he has done. Kendall has made shopping for hard to find things easier than ever thought possible. He honors all of his commitments, his U-Card is probably the best shopping tool i have ever used at a store like this. He does everything he can for his customers, even pulling things from his personal collection to sell to you. He has earned my business every day that i stop in and i will continue to be an up up and away customer for as long as i live.

Up Up & Away is the best comic book store around! 2 years ago I began getting back into comics and started browsing various stores in the Cincinnati area. Several were good, but I kept coming back to Up Up & Away for several reasons. Kendall, the store owner, is very helpful and friendly. After only a few times in the store he knew me by name, and that really makes the store a comfortable place to be. It's like being Norm from Cheers when you walk in! He answers any questions politely and always seems glad to see you come back in. If he is sold out of a specific new book, he does a great job making sure you get a copy if you want one. The store is also laid out in way that is very "user friendly". All the titles new and old are very easy to find. He also sends out a weekly email with the list for the current weeks' titles which is very helpful so you dont miss anything. The U-Card discount is fantastic and very good deal whether you spend a lot in the store or a little. I live 45 minutes away from the store but still manage to come in at least once every other week if not every week. Even when gasoline was over $4 a gallon and I couldn't make it in, Kendall offered to hold any books i wanted for me until i could make it in. Just one more reason to make Up Up & Away your one stop comic book shop!

Up Up & Away is you one stop shop for all you comic and gaming needs. You are greeted by name(once you are a regular- and believe me you will be) and always with a smile or a joke. They are very informative and knowledgeable. If they don't have it they will try to get it for you(and usually succeed). Everything is presented well and easy to find. They have a great selection of statues and figurines. They are reasonably priced and I highly recommend them to everybody I know as well as anybody who asks me where I get my different variety of superhero tees that were bought at Up Up & Away. I always leave with a smile and usually with alot of comic books. Now pardon me, somebody wants to see me make this pencil disappear.

Aside from having the newest ongoings every week from all the major comics publishers Up Up and Away comics has an impressive collection of Back issues, Hardcovers, Omnibuses, and Trade-paperbacks for sale. If your a manga fan Up Up and Away has you covered with an impressive collection of both popular and hard to find manga titles. Hero clix, statues, booster packs and apparel are also found at in abundance. The associates are friendly but not annoying like typical comic shop owners and are always willing to pull your books at the shortest notice. The store is well lit and the neighborhood is friendly as well.

i used to go to another comic book store. i went there for over a decade, and the proprietor never made me feel at home. he never had an extra syllable for me unless it was to tell me the books would be in on thursday on a holiday week. he even hassled my girlfriend when she tried to buy me a gift card over the phone from out of town, as if taking the money up front was a burden to him. i spent thousands of dollars with this guy over the years, and he never offered me a subscription service or to pull comics for me every week, let alone some sort of discount. luckily, i decided to stop by up up & away. i was drawn by the lure of the U-card (earning a rebate for all the money i plunk down on comics can't be a bad thing, i thought), but i would keep coming back even without such a nice financial draw. i noticed kendall was calling me by name as i walked in within a few weeks, and he is always helpful in suggesting his favorite reads or opinions on current (comic book) events. he immediately offered to order a book he was out of and asked if i wanted him to hold onto anything for me. kendall has a naturally friendly way of making the customers feel welcome, as if the service he provides actually matters to him, instead of just being a way to pay the rent. the other store is on my home from work, and up up & away is not, but i will gladly go the extra 40 minutes round-trip for kendall's store, because he has actually earned my business and seems glad to have it.

Since Kendall has taken over, this shop went from good to fantastic. The selection is stellar, and if he doesn't have what you want then he'll get it to you. The store is large and clean, with sections for different titles that allow you to easily find what you're looking for.

Kendall is extremely helpful and knowledgable, but he doesn't bug you by walking around the store holding your hand, he lets you shop! He's incredibly friendly and knows every customer by name, providing the greatest service I've ever had at any comic shop.I actually travel an hour every Wednesday to see him, passing up several shops in the process!

Aside from the awesome atmosphere, selection, and customer service, his U-Card program allows me to receive $50 in free comics every few months. My loyalty couldn't be stronger!

Anyone with a negative review is simply promoting different shops because this one is the best!

Not a huge comic fan (though I do buy them from time to time), but am into Warhammer 40k. Originally, when I first went to UU&A, Kendall had some stock, but not very much. After a few trips to check out his supply (mostly to buy paints, though), he said that they were going to become a partner distributor, because of the demand that the area was starting to have for 40k. Now, he's been sponsoring prizes for tournaments and letting people play 40k on some of the tables in store, not to mention rearranging the store to be more gaming friendly. I know that this does not pertain to comics, per se, but I think that even though his main focus is comics, he does a great job with everything else! Kendall is also an extremely friendly owner, and is very in tune with what customers want.

I used to shop at this location when it was under different management and a different name. Since Kendall took control and it became Up Up & Away the quality of service and product has increased dramatically. The owner really takes an iterest in ordering items collectors want/need; he even has a e-mailing list to let us know what's arriving on Wednesdays. I nearly always find what I am looking for, unless it's something off the wall or rare, and Kendall knows me by name. Not to mention the store itself is always clean, bright, and organized.
I recommend this store to everyone I know. I actually feel guilty if I buy comics from anywhere besides Up Up & Away. You won't find any rude, Comic Book Guy attitude at this place! (unless you're the worst customer ever and deserve it)

I've been going to UpUp for years but if you include previous management and a different name, I've been going there for decades. I stopped collecting comics in 1995 but was interested in a few new titles that were coming out in 2006, so I decided to stop in. UpUp had all of the titles I was looking for and is set up in a way that makes anyone (whether a new customer or veteran) just a few seconds away from what they are looking for. And in the rare occurrence where they don't have what you're looking for, you can be sure they'll get it for you. As far as the actual location; the store is quite large (compared to other Comic Book shops) and it is very clean and orderly; no tripping over longboxes or getting buried under mountains of unfiled back issues. Everything has it's place and is situated for the benefit of the customer. Another great aspect of UpUp is their U-Card. This card is free to any customer and you get a punch for each $5 you spend in the store. Once you fill your U-Card you get $50 of free merchandise! So, just showing up and getting your normal stuff can result in $50 of free stuff!! It's a great benefit to any collector Definitely, the best side of UpUp is the people that work there. I remember when I was a kid, "comic book guys" were precisely like the one on "The Simpsons"; annoyed, condescending and indifferent to your patronage. In 2006 when I met the current owner Kendall, I was sold on the store. Kendall took the time to talk about what I missed in 11 years of not reading and not only discussed the different events, but took the time to show me where each book was and even recommended some. Now, many would think this is just good business, but as far as Comic Shops go, this is quite rare. Through the past few years Kendall has been a great help and a good friend. So, if you're looking for Comics in the Cincinnati area, Up Up is the place to go; I wouldn't think of going anywhere else.

A friend of mine and I found this store on CBR. So we decided to check it out. I was very happy after talking to the owner and seeing how his store was laid out. All the main titles were in there special spots wich is helpful for new people or younger ones.
He sends out a weekly email with whatcomes out and you can have him put something back or have a pulllist. The only complaint I have is that theres been a few times that some things werent pulled and I missed out on some good books. Other then that its a good place to go. Kendall has always been ready to help me with find something or preorder a item.

I returned to reading comics less than a year ago. The reason i got out of it was there was only one decent comic shop in our area. The store just seemed...like a store! You go in; browse; find what you want and leave, too much like a business. When I stopped in this shop, (you can't call it a store because it's so much more than that), i loved the setup, the displays and not cramped. I spent almost 2 hours here on my first visit. I found what i was looking for plus much more. It was very easy to get hooked on different genres of comics due to the layout of the shop. I generally read one publisher and now I read multiple titles. I blame it on the owner when my wife asks where I've been when I was just to stop and pick up a couple of titles. I can't just go in and get what I need; I always come out with more, sometimes things I never thought I would be caught reading. My expectations are high when it comes to comic books. Yet i am always up for a bargain, i am willing to pay for quality in which I also blame the owner. This shop has a little of everything; comics (old and new), gaming cards, gaming accessories, toys and apparel. The shop owner is just one of us. He reads comics and is usually up to date on current events in the fantasy realm. Anything from the past, he is a whiz. I enjoy conversing with him and some of the regular patrons whether it be about comics, current events or movies. To all my friends who read comics, I talk up this shop like one would talk up a local pub. Once you go in, you find yourself there regularly. KUDOS TO HOMER!!!!

As a parent, new trend often sneak up on you, that is one reason I love Comic Book World. The owner and employees all work very hard to help the parents learn about what their kids are into especially since it changes so much. They have a great selection of Magic cards and can explain all the differences to you. The store sponsors tournamaments and even has sone several library programs on comics and manga. Great place to visit and connect with your favorite comic books and learn about the new ones.

PROS: Great
CONS: Can become addictive
