Great place. The best quality and service. I am continually impressed. This is one place I always make a priority when I visit Fremont.

The thing that struck me the most about Prairie Market was the knowledge and friendliness of the staff. The butcher I talked with was very knowledgeable and did custom cuts for me. He took the time to ask how I was cooking it and, after I told him I was smoking it, offered to put some of their own dry rub on it and vacuum seal it. It turned out AWESOME. The meat was fresh and my family devoured it!As to the cleanliness of the market, I saw absolutely NO cause for alarm much less concern. Everyone working was wearing gloves when handling food. The floors were clean as were the coolers. The only negative I have is they are a little more pricey than your average super mega-low-mart, but the service and quality of the meat was more than worth the price difference.

I have been a shopper at this market for over 15 years and you'll be hard-pressed to find better smoked bacon. We have lived in 3 different states and always come back to get their bacon, since it is so tasty. Their meats are excellent quality and it has been run by the Chudzinski family for over 40 years. My mother-in-law has been a loyal customer for 30 years!

Although I'm sure this place has had to pass health inspections, I couldn't help but feel a little uneasy about freshness and cleanliness when I went here for the first and only time. I got a gift certificate for Christmas and when I went to the store to use it I was taken aback by the less than sparkling look of the little house turned into a store/butcher shop. "Old" is the word that comes to mind as for the fixtures and decor, but not in the "quaint" or "antique" or "general store" kind of way. This made me wonder about how much business they got, and how fresh their stock was. I was a bit nervous to try the butcher shop items, so I used my gift certificate with what I considered to be "safe" purchases like milk (after checking the expiration date), chips, bread, and some cheese from the deli section. If you are used to shopping in ultra-modern, sparkling clean, state of the art super markets then this will probably seem a bit too rustic for your tastes as well. The parking was limited.
