Service is outright poor, waited over 10 minutes for any type of service. The owner needs to do some reading abut the state of Ohio drinking law, being a college town he should be up to speed as to understand that Ohio law provides that when you are with your legal parent and they consent, you are legally allowed to have a beer! The owner is his rude way, must think that he is running a 5 star establishment, wake up, only a 2 star at best; his big statement that the Columbus police will arrest me and my daughter and that the police have told him numerous times no provision for underage consumption is outright BS--being a highly educated town the owner should do some free reading on the internet. Bottom line the food is ok, the noise level is a 10+, you will sit right on top of other people, service is poor, food is average and the owner is rude-----Columbus has so many other great places---take your business to another fine establishment!

Had an awful experience at this restaurant. My wife and I went for our anniversary and ordered their top menu item. When the server brought our food out, he placed both of our plates in front of us and then presented my wife with a choice. Because the kitchen had cut a 7oz vs a 4 oz filet, they withheld (hostage?) the seafood portion of the meal. Her choice was to accept the 7oz filet or allow the server to take the ENTIRE plate back off the table, back to the kitchen so they could cut off 3oz of the filet, at which time, they would bring out the seafood. Absolutely ridiculous. We asked the bar tender walking through the dining area if we could take dessert in the bar, without breaking stride, he looked over, snorted and said ""I don't care"". I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy.

My husband and I are what you might consider ""earlybirds"". We like to eat dinner before 6pm to avoid the crowds...especially at the more popular restaurants. But even on St. Pat`s day you cannot order from the dinner menu before 5pm. \r\nOf course it was worth the wait! And we ordered a beer sampler and some fantastic cajun Hummus while we mulled over our dinner choices. But beware, the hummus will creep-up on you! and you`ll feel the heat in the back of your throat.\r\nPortions are good and the dining room was nearly empty. But the you have to pass thru the busy bar to get in and out.

Besides the fact that this place is supposedly haunted and ghosts are one of my biggest fears, I absolutely love it and have become quit the regular! They make the best drinks, the food is consistently delicious and the service staff is very friendly . The food is reasonably priced for a downtown restaurant, and the beer is excellent especially the dark horse. I have never been a fan of dark beer, but this is one to try even if you never have been a dark beer drinker in the past. As far as the food goes I especially love the crab cakes but the rock filet is really fun for a special occasion. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and is definitly the spot for an amazing date night, a night out on the town with friends, or for relaxation after a long day at work. Hope my review helped, and enjoy!

The space is the best part about this place. The old bar and tiled floor are beautiful. The beer selection is also pretty good. The food is just really average. Overall, still worth at least one visit.

Im not a big beer drinker but my husband loves the selection... I like supporting local businesses and this is one worth checking out. The food is good but a bit pricey which is to be expected from a downtown restaurant. Nice servers and envronment!

This place has awesome fish and special meals on its menu. There is parking nearby which is good because it is downtown a few block from the Capital building. They also feature their fresh brews some of which I like. The price is moderate - it was featured in the fine dining section of the Entertainment book. Nice special night out place.

This was some of the worst service that I have ever had at any upscale restaurant in Columbus. Our server was not attentive and when asked simple questions about the food/drinks would answer rudely and would not be of any help. Additionally our server was rude and refused to split the bill for our group but did not make us aware that we couldn't split the bill until after we were ready to pay. Besides the horrible service, the food was decent but was overpriced for the quality.

Have been here twice now. Once for lunch once for dinner...The building alone is worth the visit. Very nice decor. Food has been GREAT both times...The beer is not out of this world, but it is fun to do a beer tasting. I really enjoyed the Hefewiezen...Had the Chicken Salad and it was divine. Husband had the Chicken Pasta and really enjoyed it. Service was quick and friendly. Definitely will go back here.

I was in town on business and my hotel recommended the Elevator for dinner. There recomendation was perfect. The bar is amazing (over 100 years old), they brew all of there own beer which is great since I love beer and trying new ones. The food was also fantastic, I ate there 3 times in the 4 days I was in Columbus. I recommend the rock filet if you have never been. I also had the Almond chicken salad for lunch (my server told me people are addicted to it and I can see why. The bartenders were actually very knowlegable about the beer too. Over all a must see while you are in town.

The scene is fabulous. The old bar and blue lighting really makes it more of a special night unlike normal breweries. Great beer, excellent food and the atmosphere makes you not want to leave. The art on the walls is highly rated to view.

Pros: Excellent Beer

.

The atmosphere is great. The food is filling. The old bar is amazing.\nBut the best part is the Beer! For those who appreciate beer with flavor, this is a truly great pub. As a certified beer judge who enjoys dark malts and hoppy ales, I can recommend The Clock to anyone who enjoys good beer. The owners/managers are friendly and helpful in teaching customers about the flavors of beer.

Pros: Beers, the Bar, the cellar

This has to be one of the best brew pubs in the state-bar none! Although the meals, while really great, are slightly expensive, this place is still worth the trip. Also, there's a few things on the menu that are delicious and not too pricey. Try the Hummus & Pita, and the Spinach and Pear salad! the Rock Filet is the specialty and it's dynamite! A knockout beer selection tops it all off. Don't listen to haters who say this place is too snotty. It's a fabulous place to have some good beers and good food. The pool tables are great too!

The wife and I stopped in here for a few beers while staying in Columbus. We arrived at 6:30pm and the place was fairly crowed, but it was a Friday night after all. We did find a small table and I sampled all their beer (you get a small glass of each). Their beer is very good and I enjoyed having a little of each. We just ordered some appetizers and they were very tasty. Tried to stop in here on our next trip but a private party was being held so couldn't sample anymore beer.

My husband and I both really enjoyed our experience here. We started with an unusual appetiser, beer corn battered brats, we were pleasantly surprised at how good they were. I ordered the surf and turf on a rock, a very unique dining experience, you cook your steak and seafood on a rock at your table. We both enjoyed our food, and would return here if we were in Columbus again.

I'm sure I have been here more times than any of those providing the negative reviews, and I have never had a bad experience here. I agree with one of the reviewers who claimed that those looking for a chain restaurant or bar like TGIF should just stick to that! The beer selection is great and it tastes good too. I have only eaten here twice and the food was good, although not fine dining, but you are at a microbrew with the most unique atmosphere in Columbus, set in a historic building with original stained glass and a very cool looking bar with pillars and lots of other neat interior work and ambience. I recommend you go at least once or twice and try an original Elevator microbrew and/or a mixed drink, which is typically very well made; sit back, be social, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Ate an early lunch here and it was excellent. Everything was great. From the appetizer to the dessert I could not recommend this place more. The beer was also excellent. I could see that it may get loud and busy for dinner. However the prices are average for a good meal, the place is beautiful and the food and drink great! All in all one of the best resteraunts I have been to...no idea where the negative reviews come from...unless of course good dining to you is TGIFridays then you may be let down....culture shock I guess.

DO NOT TRY THIS RESTAURANT!!!!! EVERYTHING WAS HORRIBLE!!! The best part of the entire evening was leaving and going somewhere else. Overpriced, in-edible, and rude. Stay closer to the Arena or the Short North, you'll have a better time.

Perhaps the WORST food I have ever had!!! Everything from the bread, soups, salads, entrees and desserts was absolutely horrible. Some of the beers were quite tasty, while others were very average. I recommend the Pilsner, ESB, and Dopplebock. This is a very attractive restaurant/bar. I just wish that the food could live up to the ambiance. I suggest having some drinks and watching all of the pretty people. DO NOT EAT! Food and Drinks are one category in the rating system. I gave it a one becuase the food is so bad that it can't make up for the reasonalbe drinks!

The food is terrible. The service is hit or miss. The beer can be very good, but you have to pick the right one. Don't drink the beer of the month. I suggest having a mixed drink, or ESB or Pilsner, and shooting pool on some of the coolest pool tables around. If you're not into pool, GO ELSEWHERE!!! This place is not worth your money for food and drinks. There are much cooler places to go just slightly north of the Elevator. Try the Arena District, Short North or German Village (slightly south).

The place is very good on the eyes. Take my advise and don't test your stomach. The food is awful (and over-priced). The beer is pretty good but it would be nice to have at least a small selection of bottled beers. The bartenders are friendly when they are not too busy. If you must eat, I suggest having a few beers and some chicken wings - about the only thing they can't mess up. I guarantee you can find better places to eat and drink in Columbus.

I have only gone to the Elevator Brewery once, however, EVERY drink I bought there was better than the SAME drink ANYWHERE else I have gone. \nBartender was nice, prompt and talkative, not like some bars where you are almost ignored. Drinks were about average price maybe .25 cents to a dollar more.\n I did not eat the food as I have heard mixed things and would rather go to Chipotles, Hounddogs Pizzaria, or Blue Danube for something a little cheaper. I say go for the drinks and if you have the cash try the food, I mean how bad can it be.

I'm not sure what the other reviewers were smoking, but it certainly wasn't the cigars at the elevator. We found the food to be fantastic. Try the ""Stone Rock Filet"", a dish which allows YOU to roast your steak (or fish) to perfection, if you're in the mood for something new. In addition, the wine selection was excellent (we recommend the Mendocino Syrah). The service was quick and courteous. The stained glass, classic decor and paintings hung throughout the restaurant made conversation interesting before and during dinner. In short, a great place to eat.

This is a great place to stop in the Brewery/Arena District of downtown Columbus before a hockey game or a night at the symphony. The food is slightly over priced but very good. The decor is beautiful, with definite art-deco surroundings and blue hues everywhere.\n\nNow, on to the beer. The bar is set up almost like an old-fashioned soda-fountain, with taps all the way down. They have a healthy selection of beers, all of which are better than average. I recommend the APA or Nut Brown.\n\nThere are a lot of complaints about the service but any time I have been there it has been decent.

Nice atmosphere and good beer. However, the service at the bar was slow and the bartenders (if that's what you could call these eighth grade dropouts) were extremely rude. This probaby explains why such a nice place was almost empty on a Friday night. I probably won't come back.
