Yet another bad day at Giant Eagle.

Giant Eagle has the highest prices of any store in town, coupled with the worst cashiers and customer service. If you've forgotten your card, you can forget it. They won't offer you one, and I've even had a cashier once refuse to let the person behind me in line let me borrow theirs! He said I could sign up for one, but I already have one.

The employees don't know where anything is, the store brand products are bad, and the name brands are expensive. During the dinner hour or later expect to see lines 7 to 9 people deep with no signs of hustle or the thought to open more registers.

I doubt things will improve though because the whites who shop here are either too cowardly to complain or seek lower prices at the High St. Kroger, or they're like me--they only stop in when they need one ingredient in a bind. Even so when I do this, I end up kicking myself that I didn't go to the Brewery District Kroger or High Street Kroger instead. What I lose in driving time I would make up in the time I could u-scan it myself. I stand there at G.E. thinking, would it be so hard to put a da%* u-scan in? I would complain to the manager but wouldn't you know--the two times I've tried no one knows where the manager is! I just leave fed up and try to remember not to come back!

Everytime I shop at this grocery, I continue to be disappointed. Sadly, it is the closest grocery to the Short North area in which I live, and if they don't carry something that I need suddenly at UDF, then I am forced to shop at Giant Eagle. Examples of some of the problems I have had there over the last three months are:

no carts available except in the parking lot, while the manager outside with a lit cigarette watches me go fetch my own cart

worms in the tomatoes on display by the front entrance

no courtesy card at each cashier to swipe for the sale items prices...you have to fill out a form so the cashier can then take it to the customer service counter for approval while you and the line in back of you wait for the cashier to return to finish checking your order out

high prices!

poor selection!

rare opportunities to ask a customer service attendant to help you locate an item

double charged for items...this has happened twice now...so make sure you check your receipt

The list goes on...fortunately I am looking forward to the Whole Foods that is rumored to be setting up shop in the Arena District in the future.
