Akron Design & Costume Co

I was just reading previous reviews prior to typing my own and personally my experience with Akron Design & Costume Co. couldn't be any better. I feel the people below maybe just didn't hear what they wanted to hear and therefore had to bash them. I came into the store on a fixed bugeted and couldn't afford to rent an entire costume for the play my son was in and the staff was so helpful at helping me piece it together in my budget. I took up alot of their time and they even google imaged the character I needed to come as close as possible to what was needed to make my sons part a success. I will never shop anywhere else weather it is school projects, summer parties and even Halloween. They are there all year long and are very polite everytime I call or visit. They also now carry lingerie with hard to fit sizes. I am a plus size lady and had never been able to find anything in my size that is as nice as their selection.

I've been to a lot of costume stores (because I love Halloween) and this is not one of those fly-by-night 30 day temp places: This is the real deal! Hands down, they have the largest selection of rental & retail costumes anywhere in ohio. I was really impressed overall with the entire store... it is huge and organized really well. I absolutely loved the horror movie latex masks and fx makeup! If you are looking for quality unique costumes and not cheap paper thin 'cookie-cutter' costumes, this is the place for you. Plus, they are open year round - not just Halloween time!

This is a Great Company! I have never seen a staff that is so help full and cordial. I came into Akron design looking for an item that i knew was going to be hard to locate. They did not have the item in store but Mary the manager (who i might say was one of the most pleasant people i have ever met) spent about an hour of her time locating this item for me. They also have a Wide selection of tights for all occasions. Thank you Akron Design for all your help Keep up the great work and never let people who bad mouth you get you down!!

Not according to Akron Design & Costume Co. I was confused on how to go about doing all the paper work that involves with renting their costumes. Mary the manager became enraged and was raising her voice at me then hung up. Also, I was quoted 3 different prices for this hideous costume. To top it all off, the OWNER sided with the manager in regards to my complaints. O.K.. Then; (I shall say no more)! I ended up buying a costume from Mr. Fun's for the price on what she was trying to rent this thing for! My costume is adorable! Thanks so much for your help Debbie the owner of Akron Design & Costume Co. I see I'm not the only one who has complaints! A pissed off costumer and you know who am!

I ordered a Halloween Costume on the website and was sent a damaged and/or used costume in which I paid $70 for. When I called to exchange the product for a new product which is what I had expected, the manager had the nerve to yell at me, insult me, and refused to pay for my returned shipping costs. She took no responsibilty for the product and basically said it was up to me to pay $15+ which I paid initially to receive a new costume, to send it back to her it to receive a non damaged costume. I have a costume party every year and will never consider doing business or referrring business to this company!

We found costumes for a '50's retro party. They were clean and in good condition. The big ones for Halloween go fast, so shop ahead and reserve it if you want something special/ popular. They also have props to complete your "look".

This place has great costumes that you can buy or rent. You can get costumes for Halloween or for a costume party or for a play. The prices here are pretty good for most of the costumes, but some cost more. They have accessories here, too, like hats and masks and makeup.

PROS: Great costumes
CONS: Some cost more
