I brought my cat to this vet to be declawed. I noticed at home that she was walking and in pain so I brought her to the ER for pain medicine. That seemed to curb the pain but she kept meowing in pain when I touched her side where it seemed a scab was developing. It kept getting increasingly bigger so I brought her into dover and the vet that performed the surgery admitted that she was burned on a heating pad during her surgery and she may need surgery on the 3rd degree burn. Dr Snaverly, the owner, then saw her and said that it wasn't a burn but maybe an allergic reaction and to take her home and put a baby shirt on her so she couldn't bite or itch it and to continue with the pain medicine. After two days I came home and it looked like her whole scab which covered her shoulder and part of her side was falling off and she was raw. I had to return to the ER where they needed to do immediate surgery and it was "definitely a burn." This is on-going and I am already in $1200 which is secondary to the fact that my cat must be in a lot of pain and has been lethargic and not eating much since. It was a horrible mistake to take her there and I would strongly suggest to others to keep away from a vet like this where the health of your pet is not a priority.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS THERE!!!!!! The people who like them must have money to throw around because they are EXPENSIVE!!!!! They charge 72 dollars just for blood work and an office visit on top of that so you walk out spending over 100 dollars on one visit then you are required to pay for another office visit to get the results....i hate this place and will never take my animals there again!!!! Dr Snavely is a jerk who is money hungry and the rest just follow suit.....DONT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr. Snavely has been my family vet since I was 16 years old. He has an expertise and insight that is rare. I moved back home from Florida and my cat had to have surgery. Her surgery was a success, we had a few bumps in the road after recovery, and Dr. Snavely took the time through the first few weeks home to ensure a full recovery and follow-up care. Libby has never been better - problem solved and great surgery and aftercare. Now my other cat has some thyroid issues and he is working with us to ensure my 16 year old cat has the best possible last years of her life. I don't know what I would have done without him these last several months. I highly recommend him as your vet with his expertise and service that cannot be matched.

The care and concern exhibited by everyone there, from front office staff to the doctors is exceptional, They treat the animal like it is their own. Dr. Feeney has taken care of our Schnauzer for a number of years and has got him through some very tough times, for he is a diabetic. Dr. Snavely was great, he performed surgery on our pet to relieve bladder stones. Even though this is the first time I had met him, he showed care and concern like he had been taking care of our dog for his entire life.I would not take any pet of mine to any other vet. I don't care how far I have to drive.

We have only made a few trips to Detroit Dover and we absolutely love the service we receive!

The office and waiting rooms are spotless, it doesn't smell like a vet's office (you all know what I mean) and the staff and Vets are simply amazing! (Our dogs are actually excited when we pull in the parking lot because they know they are going to get spoiled rotten with treats and pats on the head as soon as we walk in the door!)

The doctors are also very knowledgeable and take all the time necessary to explain what is wrong with your pet and what steps are going to be taken to remedy the problem. We have never felt rushed or forgotten when we've visited and we've never had a long wait. I cannot help but recommend Detroit Dover! You and your pet will not regret it!

I absolutely LOVE Dover Animal Hospital. My family took all of our pets there when I was younger and I am going to continue to do the same! I recently took my first pet (a cat) there for a check up and for surgery and they were SO caring and compassionate with her. They stayed friendly when I called to check on her (twice) after her surgery and seemed happy to do it. Everyone is so friendly, especially Dr. Cunningham and so is the rest of the staff! I would highly recommend bringing your pet here!

I have an Irish Wolfhound who has cancer. When he stopped eating and got sick enough to make the call to the vet. You know the 'call' being the one everyone dreads. Dr.Cunningham listened to me and before just making an appointment for him to be put down he advised I try some different medicines to see if we could change things for him. Cancer chemotherapy is so expensive that we told them up front we couldn't afford it and Dr. Cunningham was completely understanding, taught me what to look for with regards to lumps and gave me medicine to help with his eating. This was over a month ago and our wolfhound is doing fantastic, eating normally, running around, bright eyed and happy. If it wasn't for the vets at DDAnimal Hospital he wouldn't even be here. I think they are all awesome right down to the receptionists and I will continue to go there as long as I can. I Iive right around the corner from Northview Animal Clinic and wouldn't even consider going there unless it was to work with DDAnimal Hospital.

My family has taken our pets to Detroit Dover since I was a child and as an adult I have taken all of my pets there as well. I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with them and always recommend them highly. When my cat was hospitalized last year Dr. Cunningham was wonderful and reassuring and made sure I was updated regularly in his condition. Dr. Snavely is a wonderful surgeon as well.
They have always been very willing to discuss prices with me up front and have worked with me on cost so that my pets get the best care possible.

I've been taking my dogs to Detroit-Dover for 23 years and have had nothing but the finest service. I couldn't recommend them more. They've helped my dogs and me through two end-of-life situations with great kindness and compassion. The staff (esp. Dr. Cunningham) feel like old friends.

Bodhi, my canine companion, has been going there since I brought him home from the kennel where he was born. I expect he'll go there for the rest of his life unless I move out of town.

I have to strongly disagree with the first review. We have taken our pets to several vets before we found Detroit Dover Animal Hospital. Drs. Cunningham & Feeney treat our cats and dogs and I love them both. Everyone I know that take their pets there love them. I have never had any problems. I have a diabetic cat and Dr. Cunningham was great, we thought we had to put my cat down but we just kept adjusting the medication and it worked. Thanks to Dr. C I still have my cat.

You cannot find a better vet than Dr. Snavely and Detroit Dover Animal Hospital. I have been going to Detroit Dover for years and years. When I was a teenager my mom and I took my dog there and loved the staff and doctors. 25 years later I have taken my cat and both of my dogs to Dr. Snavely. The staff treated my animals like they were their own. Anytime I had questions about fees they explained them up front. If you are unsure ASK FIRST - they will gladly expain it all to you. Caring for pets (especially dogs) is not an inexpensive pursuit and surely Detroit Dover is not the cheapest place in town. But you will not find better service, compassion and personalized care for your furry friends! I was stunned by the other reviewer, as so many people I know go to DDAH and see Dr. Snavely and ALL of them rave about the care they receive.

I took my dog to the Detroit Dover Animal Hospital from when it was a puppy until it was about three years old. Most of the time I brought her in they used the "wait and see" approach and would tell me to monitor her and bring her back if the symptoms continued. Every time I brought the dog back for the same issue they would charge an additional exam fee. They prescribed medicine that gave here a bad skin rash and then prescribed the same medicine at a later date claiming they did not have record of her allergy to the medicine. My dog developed a small cyst that the vet thought was the result of the ID microchip they implanted in her neck. They waited until it was infected to do anything about it and at that point it required surgery. They claimed it would be of no cost to me because it was due to the ID microchip they implanted. When I went to pick up the dog after the sergery they changed their mind and demanded payment for the surgery and would not give my dog back until I paid. The hospital owner was not there to discuss so they said there was nothing they could do for me unless I paid. I would advise anyone not to take their pet to this vet. They do not have your pet??s best interest in mind. They are money driven and it became obvious the more I took my dog to this Vet.
