We purchased two dresses last august for a wedding that never happened. I was never notified that the dresses were in nor asked what I wanted done with them. I would like to use them for the same girls in another upcoming event . when I attempted to contact this store, the number was not in service. Does anyone know what happened or how I can contact the owner to collect my dresses?

I have read all the reviews below and can very much relate to your concerns. I worked at Peggy's on and off for maybe 8yrs. I ran the store the last few years by myself so you definitely would have called me a manager. I should have been the STORE MANAGER but someone else has always had that title---the name is mentioned frequently in all these reviews. Working in the bridal business is quite stressful and you are asked to do things you would never have dreamed of doing or even thought of doing. So yes, when I hear 'shady' being used to describe Peggy's, that can be accurate BUT don't forget it applies to ALL bridal shops. Some may get caught doing something while others may not but eventually they all do. THEY ALL DO. Not every customer contacts In Your Corner to talk about it so alot goes left unsaid to the public. A customer can walk in and have the best experience while the next customer will not. Sometimes the trouble begins when there are conflicting personalities amongst a shop employee and customer. Most times, though, it IS the shops fault for something going wrong. More often than not, there is going to be a "no refund-no exchanges" sign somewhere on the counter or on the sales ticket at a bridal shop. That means, the shop will do whatever it has to do to not give a refund or exchange to a customer. I can understand why there is this policy because there are customers out there that will wear the mdse and bring it back, change their mind and want to bring it back, etc. It's alot of hard work selling bridal mdse because of the prices. You must work harder than you would in a normal retail shop at the mall. But then, there are alot of times I didnt agree with it because I felt the customer DID deserve a refund if I thought it was the shops wrongdoing. However, it was my duty to enforce the poilcy whether I liked it or not. And I didn't like what I was doing the majority of the time. I had alot of great customers and tried to do everything I could for them by guarding and keeping track of their orders the best I can but I couldnt do that for everyone. I wasnt the only one in charge of the orders---unfortunately, because I was good at making sure they were being placed. IF I knew about them... I can count on one hand the major mistakes I made on one hand in all the time I worked there. What can I say, Im human. I was, basically, covering for the head manager that would come in there and just mess everything up and leave me with a TON of problems. I got sick of it and finally left. Unappreciated. I got so tired of correcting the problems somoene else caused. I still miss the 'nice' side of the bridal business. To be fair, it wasnt always Peggys that caused the problems. There were many customers that made working there hell because of how demanding or rude they were themselves. Lots of people would have bad experiences at another store before coming to ours and would walk into our shop with an attitude. On the flipside, we would end up making the customers feels alot better and they would walk away satified. I loved those moments. And I loved my customers. I felt bad when I couldnt do more for an upset customer. Reading all the customer reviews, it all seems so familiar. I know your situation exactly and the lies you are being told. Im so sorry for your bad experiences. I know I had my bad days, being all stressed out with having noone to help me and may have contributed to a customers poor experience. I have been gone almost a year now and most of these reviews happened after I left. All I can say is, I tried. Best of luck to you all.

I ran the store 4 days a week by myself. Debra never showed up, never took calls, never called customers back... I didn't have any authority in the store. I was getting yelled & screamed at constantly, not to mention physically intimidated by one man. When I'd be on the phone getting harassing calls (because no one could understand that Debra wouldn't answer my calls/I didn't know what to do/there was nothing I could do) & end up crying. Some customers in the store would understand, so thank you to those few people that did (like Mandy, who called the Jasmine company & the married couple -the husband had been in an awful wreck & Debra tried to run out the back way when confronted by them.) It was awful working here. Not only was I told I'd make $10/hour, I'd get a raise in a few months. A TOTAL LIE!! I made barely more than minimum wage & drove 25 miles 5 days a week.
BRIDES: save yourself some trouble & just go to a bigger chain store. There would AT LEAST be some responsibility there if anything were to happen with your purchases/orders! I've seen too many sweet women have the most special day in their life become their burden when having planned with Debra. This should be a fun time for you, your girls & your soon-to-be husband! Please go somewhere else & save yourself the hassle.

Pros: Customer harassment for managers mistakes

Cons: "Sketchy" manager to say the least...

My daughter ordered her bride's maid dresses from Debra on 01/01/2009. We payed in full with 2 different credit cards. We were told that the dresses would be in March 19, 2009.
We read the reviews on this website after we had ordered and paid for the dresses. We became nervous and called Debra. We stated that we were nervous by what we had read and we were reassured by Debra that the review was falsed and the store was in the process of sueing the person who wrote the review. Debra reassured us that our dresses would be in on March 19, 2009.
On March 19, 2009, two weeks before the wedding Debra called my daughter and told her the dresses were lost in shipping and that she could have the dresses reordered on a super special rush job from the dress company, but had to reorder within 1 hr. In addition she told my daughter that her money could not be refunded.

My daughter called me and I called Debra, she stated that there was a problem with shipping of the dresses. Debra stated that the dresses were lost by UPS and were last tracked to Colorado. I asked for the tracking number so I could call UPS for myself. Debra stated that she did not have the tracking number and that she was never given the tracking number by the company. I then asked for the company's name and phone number so that I could call about the dresses. Debra stated that she could not give me the company's name because the store bought from a buyer.
I then asked for the buyer's name and number so I could call the buyer, again Debra stated that she could not release the buyer's name and number without his permission. I was then told that she had called the company and that there was some red/orange dress in the same style that could be rerouted to Peggy's if we wanted those dresses or she could reordered the dresses on a special/ super rush order that would need to be placed in one hour. Debra then told me that we could reorder the dresses or not have any dresses for the wedding. After telling Debra that this event was very distressing and was causing my daughter emotional distress two weeks from her wedding, Debra agreed to give or money back, this date was March 19, 2009. I asked if I could come to the shop and have a check cut for me. Debra stated that she had to put the money back onto the credit cards and would have to send the request to corporate. When questioned about the "corperate" office, Debra stated that there was an outside biller and she would submit the information on 3/20/2009. Debra stated that the money would be put back on the cards on Friday of that week or on Monday the following week.
As of today the 03/31/2009, the money has not be returned. I called today and spoke to Debra, who stated that she would call corperate office and ask about our refund. Debra took my name and number again, stating that she no longer had our information at the store because she turned it over to corparate.

I am beginning to wonder if I need to take the shop to small claims court or better yet Channel Nine, In Your Corner!!

I have to rate the shop to get this comment published, so I will say a one, but the shop is really a zero. I would say stay clear of this shop, find a shop that will not cause emotional distress!!

I would never recomend this place to anyone. I ordered my bridesmaid dresses from there and it has been nothing but a hassle working with them. I paid for all my girls dresses in full and all they had to do was go in and get sized. When my dad paid for the dresses the lady(Debrah) got really huffy when my dad (a disbled vetern) told her it was tax free. Then I had 2 of my girls call me when they went to get fitted and say that the store couldn't find my file and didn't know what dress to fit my girls for.
I called the store a couple weeks after all my girls said they had gone to get fitted to make sure that my dresses were ordered. I had to call several times because everytime I called Debrah was never there and would never return any calls. Finally I got a hold of her and she couldn't tell me specifically if my girls dresses had been ordered or not. She said she assumed they were. When I asked her to double check and not assume she got angry and said " I am sure they are ordered. I don't have time to look" I asked if she would call me back to be sure and she never did.
Here I am 2 months later and still no call back. I called again to see if I could get an ETA because the dresses need alterations. Once again Debrah was not available and would be calling me. Still haven't heard from Debrah.I would go down there but I am in Texas 4 hours away.
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE! THEY ARE SKETCHY!
UPDATE(2/9): I went down there Friday(2/6) Debrah was not working. Called on Sat and talked with her. She couldn't give me any information on my dresses. I called Jasmine Dress Company today and they told me no orders have been placed for Peggy's Bridal. SHE IS A FRAUD!! I am in the process with Jasmine Bridal to get a refund!

I rented a tux for Fight Night...January 22, 2009. I liked my tux...liked my service. This is actually the second tux I've rented from them. The first was two years ago for a Fight Night, too. I actually could have gone to Tuxedo Junction and received the Fight Night rate ($59.99), but had a good experience @ Peggy's two years ago so I returned. Again, everything came off pretty smooth. I'll be back for next year's Fight Night!

I ordered 2 dresses and paid for them in full in July for my Dec. wedding for the mothers of bride and groom. These dresses were to arrive by October. In novermber, Deborah, the manager told me that they weren't ready, and it was the fault of Jasmine Bridal because they were behind in production. I asked for order numbers so that I could call, and she told me she didn't have access to them. On Nov 17, I called the store and left 2 messages for Deborah to call me. My calls weren't returned. I called the next day and Deborah answered. I told her who I was, and she put me on hold for 20 minutes until I hung up, so I went to the store and it was locked. The next week, she called my mother in law and said her dress had arrived with a broken zipper and that she sent it back to report a claim but it would be there in 5 days (2 weeks before the wedding). 5 days later, she was told that the dress got lost in shipping after it was repaired and that the only option was to cut a different dress from the store down to fit her. When my mom went to her fitting, 2 weeks prior to the wedding, her dress had no size tags and had a weird seam in it, and didnt fit. I called the Jasmine Co. manager and was told that dresses did not come without tags and that the ship time was 6 weeks, never 6 months, and if there were lost dresses they could be replaced in 24 hours as they had the same dresses in stock. We went to Peggys to talk about it and saw Deborah in the window, but when we got in, she had hidden in the back of the store and told a worker to tell us she wasn't there. My mom went to the back and found her hiding. Since it was 1 week before the wedding, even though our dresses were ordered 6 months prior, both moms were forced to take used dresses bc they didn't have a choice. The dresses didn't fit but it was all they had left to choose from due to all the lies we were told by Deborah. I would never recommend Peggy's to anyone. Their business is shady.

We recently rented tuxes from Peggy's for our wedding. I had a bad feeling when the sales clerk insulted me upon our first visit but since they had a particular tie that my then fiancee really wanted, I told him that as long as I didn't have to deal with it, he could do whatever he wanted. This should have served as foreshadowing. The sales clerk, always the same woman, was consistently rude and snippy with not only my husband but several of our groomsmen. One afternoon, my husband's dad and brothers drove over from Midwest City to get fitted for their tuxes only to arrive BEFORE the posted closing time, to find the store locked up. When we later questioned the sales clerk she told us that she was indeed there and she must have been in the back. But why were the doors locked? I call bologne. Also, several of our tuxes, despite the guys getting measured IN THE STORE, came back wrong. This included my husband's, THE GROOM. I always wondered why people write reviews...now I know. It's to help people with good customer service and reputable service gain business. Sorry Peggy, in my opinion, that's not you.

On Dec 30, 07 I ordered a bridesmaid dress and paid a deposit of $109.75, leaving a balance of $94.00. I paid my deposit with my Visa debit card. I was told by the sales rep that my dress should be delivered to the store by April. I signed a receipt reading that my balance is due upon merchandise arrival. On March 3rd the same sales rep phoned me and explained my dress was in and I had one week to pick it up. I told her that the wedding was canceled, he beat the XXXX out of her and if I'm not in this week to keep the dress. During that week I decided to let the store keep the dress. On May 6th, 08 I noticed a debit out of my checking account from Peggys Bridal for $94.00, the remaining balance. This was now going to cause my checking account to overdraw. When I phoned the store the next day telling the same sales rep that the debit was unauthorized and I will come by to pick up a check today to deposit into my checking account she told me the owner was out of town for a week, I will not receive a check because the charge was authorized based on the receipt I signed. I also found out during this conversation that she doesn't recall me saying "keep the dress", this is now my word against hers. On May 7th I visited an attorney who viewed the receipt and agreed the debit was unauthorized because I did not sign anything stating that if I failed to pay my balance that the store will charge the card they have on file for me. If they sent me a letter in writing stating they are going to charge my card on file and I still didn't pay than it would be legal for them to make that transaction. He also did say I could take this to small claims court, but I have decided not to because I would like to end all contact with the store once I pick up the dress. I would not recommend this merchant to anyone. Also when I call the store most of the time it sounds as if I am calling a fax line, this merchant is starting to look a little shady.

About a year ago I had all of my tuxedos and bridesmaids gowns ordered from here for my large wedding and I repeatedly was given poor service despite the fact that I was giving them quite a bit of good business. More than half of my tuxedos were wrong on wedding day and they did not amend the issue despite the promise that would fix their mistakes no matter what. They refused to apologize, give me a refund, or any store credit. I was so disappointed. I hope they have had some staff turnover since then, I had expected such a nice result with the initial high end impression I was given.
