Don't tell you when you join that they charge a $49 club maintenance fee at the end of the year. So SURPRISE! right before the holidays they take an extra $50 out of your account. If you call them, they will tell you it was in the contract. Membership enrollment was advertised as no enrollment fee and the sales representative failed to disclose this fee.

I have been a member of Aspen Athletic center located at Rockwell and northwest highway for about 9 months. They have great equipment and a reasonable amount for membership.
But I have been to the doctor twice with ring worm in the past six months. I don't go anywhere else to work out, so suspect I'm catching it at Aspen. I always were shower shoes and shower after I work out.

Andy Turki is a sick piece of s*** and all he wants is your money! He has zero education but will try and convince you about how great he is. He's been in jail twice and should not be around women. Stay far away from this creep!

Stopped in today to ask about $19 no contract deal. when you inquire there is a $50 sign up fee... I said why isnt that on the sign, and the manager growled back at me "no body's stupid enough to believe that!' AND walked away! Dont ever give them a CC for anything.. they will get money from you till you change cards... horrible management!!!

I've been a member since they opened the Edmond location. My biggest complaint is the lack of evening classes!There are plenty of members who would support another evening. They just don't seem to want to cater to those of us who work 8 to 5!

I'm very disappointed with the new management. The women's locker room smells awful.....the floors are dirty uck!!! But the smell -- at least please clean the facility!!!! Even if the stupid manager has to do it in his suit....The machines are always broken down, the machines have dust on them, the yoga room is nasty--never enough weights to go around. I don't think the facility would pass the health board examiners. It use to be a 4 star facility - WHAT THE HELL HAS HAPPENED!!! Get a new manager or at least have Michelle Laney be the manager or Mac - They are the only two great people in the facility, that seem to care! Also, some friends are paying alot less like $99.00 per year and I'm paying 62.00 a month what gives!!! Most members that where there when I started have moved on.....don't blame them at all!!!! Let's get it back to what it was and is suppose to be - a Healthly Clean Exercise Facility with helpful people and friendly people setting an example to make people healthly and stong!!

I would have to agree with all of the comments about the rudeness of the staff and trainers. The worst part is that once you finish your contract, it is almost impossible to stop getting charged each month for a membership you no longer want. Unfortunately for me, I had my payments set up on automatic withdrawal, which means they continue to deduct funds from my account each month, regardless of what I have done to cancel this membership. Not only that, it isn't even the amount I had been led to believe I would pay ($22), but is $38.25 each month--even though I had received a letter saying my fees would drop to $13 per month if I stayed with them! All I can say is that I feel like a housecat! I don't know about other Aspens, but avoid this one in Edmond!

Be aware of their cancellation policy. This is in the fine print on the back of the contract, but they won't tell you about it. I was stood up for personal training. I was double booked for personal training after paying good money to be trained alone. When i wanted to stop the non-helpful training i lost hundreds of dollars. There were a couple of months my account was charged more than the agreed balance, but the long hectic process of getting my money back wasn't worth my time. Clients of mine have reported unprofessional trainers suggesting sexual remarks about their personal lives during sessions.

In the past year this gym went from a four star to a single star frequenty the mens locker room has no paper towels to dry your hands. The restroom smells like an port-a-jon and the sauna is molded and nasty. The water in the pool is always cloudy and there is always several treadmills broken. What happened to the management of this gym?

I recently discontinued my membership at Aspen because of the rude management and staff. I got tired of wasting my money and getting what I would call very unproffesional service. The staff and trainers are arrogant and rude. I felt like it was a meat market. I would not recommend this gym to anyone.

I found this club to be outstanding. The staff is a littelgreen. However the Treainers are AMAZING! I am a professional in the Medical community and have been training with the trainers at Aspen and referring my patients since 2009.
Outstanding NASM certified and well versed in rehab to college prep and professional athletics!

I've been an Aspen member for three years now. I go to all three Oklahoma City locations, but mainly the one in Edmond. I have to say that I have not always been impressed. They used to have pretty big problems with the staff and stocking items we need like towels. About 4 months ago they changed management and I now have no complaints! The staff is very helpful now and the facility is always spotless and really well maintained. A very positive change has come to our gym and I love the new energy. Highly suggest!!

This is the most ignorant staff of morons I've ever come across!! I've been to A LOT of gyms in my time and this is by far the most ridiculous one I've ever joined! Yea, it looks nice when you walk in but after about a week of being a member you start to notice things like leaks in the ceilings.. I mean, they charge that much for a stinkin membership and they can't even fix the roof????!! Wow, and the management is a bunch of rude idiots that have NO right running a gym.. wow guys, stay away from this gym, don't waste your time or, your money!

Want to be able to watch an OK State game while exercising. Three times I've visited during a televised game (2 last year and today). All three times the channels have been changed to channels the staffer explains are incorrect but the staffer doesn't have access to the remote to turn them to the correct channel. Today three of the TV's were on the same ESPN station while the other two were on news channels.... The staffer explained that she was frustrated that the channels are always changed on the weekend and people complain but that no one has access to the remotes to solve the problem. I guess they don't have ladder either.... Oh yeah, most of the elliptical machines are broken.

I asked to buy a workout for the day and the guy at the desk wanted to charge $15.00 for 1 workout. I was like "Wow" thats a little high, and the the guy said, "well you could buy a membership for half price today." I said no thank you I am already a member at a gym in town, but they are closed for the day, so I just thought I would come over here and buy a 1 workout pass. I would have gladly paid $5.00, but felt that $15.00 was a little outrageous. Without even trying to negotiate the price the guy just started looking at his computer with a sour look on his face. I stood there for a good 30 sec. looking at him waiting on him to negotiate something but never did. I was disgusted by this and left.

After writing to Iowa (as stated on the back of the membership contract) trying to cancel my membership (owned for 6mos and then was transferred/moved to Claremore, OK) of $1100, I resorted to calling the Edmond location on 2/2009 and spoke with "Jason Pelt, VP of Sales/Fitness" whom explained that they had supposedly sent me a refund of $100 bucks or so. HA HA, great one! After a very RUDE and ARGUMENTATIVE convo, I made him aware that our convo had been taped, he then opted for me to pay $100 per person (x4) to reinstate the contract and add an additional year to the already $1100/3yr contract I paid for. The Internet will provide you with much negative feedback on this organization and the criminal behavior that they utilize each and everyday. DUE YOUR HOMEWORK and then tape your convo with anyone you speak to in this organization.The Attorney General of Oklahoma, Drew Edmondson has a Consumer Fraud Task Force, I would suggest if you have any problems with Aspen forward your information to them and they will address.

The customer service is the worst thing about Aspen. I went in to look at the facilities and ask questions about membership. I was herded into a little box to be treated very rudely by an insensitive, aggressive employee named Caitlin Murphy. She was not open to any questions and acted like I was stupid when I tried to ask her anything. She did not even ask if I wanted to tour the facility even after I told her I came to check the place out. I was basically given financial options to purchase a package or get out. Come to find out...Caitlin Murphy is the general manager. So, don't even try to speak with a manager if you are also treated poorly.

I would rather be locked in a room with 10 used car salesmen before dealing with the staff at Aspen again. After an hour of the "hard sell" I all but ran out the door, never to return again. Save yourself the hassle, buy an elliptical trainer for your home. It's cheaper and doesn't talk back!

My husband and our family joined through a corporate promotion. It has been a nightmare since. They continue to try to charge us for services we did not purchase. I've called numerous times to straighten this out and just a few weeks ago received another letter from their corporate office in California stating I owed for training sessions! Honestly, none of us go because of their horrible customer service and we purchased a 3yr membership which wasn't cheap nor competitive with other facilities in our area.

I called to make an appointment to tour the facilities. I felt like a slimy used car salesman was trying to steal my identity. After wiggling my way out of giving him my mother's maiden name I went in for a tour. The facility is decent by gym standards, but there are few things that bugged me. The first being the staff and their lack of customer service skills, the second being co-ed saunas. The sheer arrogance of the staff made me feel insignificant and I have been employed in the fitness industry for 5 years. My suggestion to the management at this facility would be to change your employees attitudes and you would have a worthwhile facility that I would like to join. Until then I will stick with my own workout.
