Polliwogs Playground is not a very good place.

by Jenna S.

I must say, after using polliwogs I wasn't pleased. The woman at the desk (who I later figured out was the owner) seemed to have a stress issue and it was written all over her face. When I came back to pick up my girls, I noticed her talking down to a kid (while in their face) in a mean tone. I didn't feel comfortable with that at all. I understand children need discipline when behaving inappropriately but she just seemed like she enjoyed being in control way too much. When she turned around and realized I saw the whole thing, she gave me this fake cheesey grin. My kids didn't have the greatest time there but the other workers that were with the children seemed to be pretty nice and patient. (A little young though) The place looks ran down and junky (for lack of a better word) I will not take my children back there. I feel they deserve a more decent place to spend their time when I have adult things to tend to.

Polliwogs Playground is Wonderful!

by Lisa B.

I have been taking my three children to Polliwogs for several years and I have absolutely no complaints. Admittingly, the original owners and staff were not friendly, especially if they were busy, however, Laura (the current owner) and her staff are fabulous! My children have always stayed at home with me and I would use Polliwogs only if I had a dr's or hair appt that I couldn't take them to and they all adjusted easily as the staff was very understanding if they were having a fussy day. Also, their prices are undeniably the best in town! I would recommend Polliwogs with confidence that you'll love it as much as we do!

Polliwogs Playground is the greatest!

by ashley A.

We love Polliwogs! its so convenient, affordable and so much fun for my kids. I feel confident leaving my kids and they beg to go back and sometimes refuse to leave, hahaha. We moved from Tulsa about two years ago and seriously, Polliwogs is at the top of my list for wanting to move back. We aren't lucky enough to have grandparents to take the kids off our hands for short periods so polliwogs is truly a Godsend!

Polliwogs Playground is GREAT!!!

by tobie s.

The staff in the infant room was exceptional with my "cry baby." I have a baby that until yesterday (10 months old) has cried the ENTIRE time that she was with anyone besides myself or my husband!! I have apologized to the staff while leaving for my college classes and they reassure me saying "it's ok! mom's need a break too! That is what we are here for!" They are great with her, in fact, almost every time she has been there they have held her the entire time to keep her calm and comforted! you can't get that at a lot of day care centers! My older child (6 year old) likes it there but the activities are more geared to younger children (i would say under 4)

OH...... also they are very good @ child security & privacy. I called in to check on my baby & had to give them a lot of info to verify it was me including my drivers license number & you have to show ID to pick you children up!

Polliwogs Playground is "exceptional"

by Matt B.

I recently herd a story about the owner of Polliwogs that I must share. At any childcare you will have kids that play by themselves, kids that play good with others, and an occasional problem child. I could never work at a childcare facility, let alone own one. The main reason is, for me it would be too stressful to watch that many kids, or deal with parents when there so called perfect child isn't so perfect. As a father I spend more time with my kids than most men do. I still can't stand hearing that my child was bad. Even though in my mind I start thinking about whole milk cartons that have been dumped on the floor or even the hair cut my son gave our daughter. Like most parents even though I know the truth its hard to except it when someone else acknowledges it. I know the owner personally and over the years have had ups and downs, but compared to were her business was when she took it over she is a world class business women and mother. Most owners hire staff and duck out when there is trouble, but not her. When a kid is having a bad day she is right there to turn that frown upside down. Or if a staff member can't handle a problem child she steps in. I don't know this for sure, but I think there are even times were she gets called in from home and comes right in. I read s the other reviews before I wrote mine. To the ones that didn't like it I pray that you find a place you love. When you have 50 kids and one is acting out to the extreme the other 49 shouldn't have to suffer or ever be hit by another child. That is very common but still shouldn't be tolerated. I think Polliwogs is an "exceptional" drop in day care, and to Laura my hat goes off to you!!God Bless you, your business, and all 5000 of your children in Jesus Name.Matt Bold

It's a good place.

by Sheila T.

It's not as good as home. It's not as good as a professional 3 star daycare but it is good for it's niche which is drop-in daycare. It does have good staff but sometimes the staff is not the friendliest or the quickest to respond to the front desk. It does have separate facilities for babies. The activities for the older kids could be better but it works for what they are doing. They have snacks and lunch dining from various places which is good.

Very Pleased

by katy s.

My child does have gross motor skill delays and has been attending polliwogs day care for 11 months. I had her in regular daycare and pulled her out a month later for neglect. The staff, especially the manager, has done everything in their power to make my daughter (16 months) very comfortable. I have not had a problem and refer several of my clients to polliwogs. I am glad they do not let kids stay that hit others. Violence is taught and unacceptable.

Kids loved it

by brittany h.

I was very nervous about putting my kids(3 and 1 ) in daycare when i went back to work, but i went to polliwogs on a recomendation from a coworker. When i went in there was a faint smell of clorox(always good to know they are clean!)Both of my kids had fun, were well fed, and asked to go back the next day!!! A little sad for me, but they loved it and were well cared for.

No Problem in 5 years! Managment very professional!

by Heather J.

I am a stay at home South Tulsa mom who uses Polliwogs for appointments etc... Both my children love to go! ( 5 and 2) After reading one of the reveiws...I can see how a child raised by a nanny would not like the variety of interaction with people if one were used to individual entertainment. Children have a hard time adjusting and act out by hitting and bitting. As a former educator and protective mother, I am pleased to hear that the managment enforces their policy for behavior!

Very good place for the kids to go to...

by O B.

I've been taking my children since they were little. Overall, I love taking them there, and they love going! I interact with the workers to make sure I know all of them. It has a limit on the amount of kids that they can have, which I love. The maximum hours they can stay is 6 hours, and that's good enough.

Horrible staff and unprofessional managers

by michelle b.

My son had always stayed at home with a nanny , so to get him accustom with kids , sharing, interaction, etc we signed him up at polliwogs. He went two or three times and everything went fine until I PAID UP FRONT for 50 hours. The very next day they said that he had to be picked up early for hitting ( even though he doesn't hit at home) so we said OK and picked him up . Who would of thought that the very next day they called and said he had to be picked up again and on the third day they said he could NOT come back for 10 days. I asked the manager why and she said for hitting , she was VERY HATEFUL when she spoke to me. I asked her how they handle his hitting and she said that they do not do time out, but they did STRAP HIM IN A HIGH CHAIR several times during the day. She also laughed at me on the phone several times when I was asking her questions about his behavior. After speaking to several other moms in my neighborhood, I found out that this experience was shared by others. This was my sons first experience at a daycare facility and it was HORRIBLE for him and myself.

Not the place to put your kids with Autism

by J & J K.

We've tried to use Poliwogs for the last 4 years and they are NOT a good place for children with Autism. Our son has Aspberger's syndrome and Poliwogs has clearly been the most inflexible child care facility in Tulsa.

We stopped using Poliwogs because if he had a difficult moment, he was put on probation for 30 days, period end of discussion. There was zero help from the staff.

Other childcare facilities like Playtimes Plus work with him to get him thru the moment or call us if there is a big problem. They have never placed him on probation. Plus our son likes Playtimes Plus much better as the facilites are larger, with more things to do, and the locations work better for us: in Broken Arrow and at Fontana Shopping Center.

MY KIDS LOVE IT!!!!!!!

by Regan U.

I have two older children (5 & 7) who go on my husband and I's date nights, and they have a blast everytime!! And by the way my 7yr old son has autism. Im really worried about how he's gonna get along in daycare type centers, and he has never had a problem there. Come to find out the owner also has a nephew whom is diagnosed with aspberger's and is able to correspond well! The last time we had date night, my 3 yr absolutly cried his eyes out to go, so just to check with them, i asked if he could stay too. I didnt think he would being it was later in the evening and i did not have his shot record handy, she was able to do that and request his shot record from the Dr. the following day so it would be on file for future use. HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!! GREAT ENVIRONMENT, GREAT STAFF, FRIENDLY, CARING, AND CLEAN!! NOT TO MENTION A GREAT PRICE. SNACKS PROVIDED FOR A LIL EXTRA AND LUNCH AND DINNER FOR AN EXTRA PRICE. WELL WORTH IT!! WE LOVE IT AND DEFINATELY RECCOMEND IT

I love Polliwog's!!!!! I have a 5-month old and a 7-year old child. They love coming to play. The extended hours are great for date nights or those who work part-time or need an afterschool program. PROS: Loving and entertaining environment, extended hours, school transportation

Best staff!! Exellant for infants!!

by Laura D.

Polliwog's is a fabulous environment for infants and older children. They have a seprate room for infants/toddlers. I love the cirriculum they use and the creative activities for each age group. This is absolutly the cleanist environment I have seen. They pride themselves on specializing in seperation anxiety, ADHD, and other special needs. I have tried other facilities and will never take my children(12 months & 6 Years) any where else. At Polliwog's I know my children are in a safe, loving, and caring environment! They even transport to local schools!

PROS: Excellant care for infant/toddler, Accepts special needs, fun for all ages

Polliwogs

by Toni D. | insider Insider | Rank: 18,180

This facility is pretty good. It's small. I do not reccomend this facility for children who do not walk. The staff have a difficult time watching younger infants with so many older children around. The weekends can be very hectic and crowded. If you have an older child, they do seem to have a good time playing, watching videos, and jumping in their jupiter jump. The prices are fair and affordable

PROS: Lots for older kids to do. good prices
CONS: Small, not god for young children
