What do you want in a summer camp? Well this is a barebones stripped down version of a theater camp. No costumes, no props nothing beyond some people trying to charge a very high price for a very poorly run theater camp.

I've had kids in the other local camps in Tulsa are and they put on shows that were of a much higher caliber even though they were attended by fewer kids, which means that they were taking in less money than this one in Broken Arrow. When our child asked if they needed to wear costumes the answer was, "no this camp is just to learn about acting, no props or costumes it would cost too much money". Which is baffling because after sitting through the performance at the end of the week it was clear that they had 3 or 4 times as many students as the camp run by Theater Tulsa and considering the price was nearly identical, this camp was racking in the money.... it just wasn't going to the actual camp just the owners' pockets.

Did they put together a decent show? Sadly no. I sat through two performances of the two different groups that performed that week and one was so poorly done that it was embarrassing to watch. I doubt even the parents could actually claim they liked it. A stage full of little kids trying to sing a song they clearly didn't know the words to making movements that were completely out of sync... what were they doing with the kids that entire week? Clearly it wasn't working with them.

The other group of older kids gave a very good performance for what it was. But you couldn't hear half of it because they placed microphones on the stage that either cut in or out or were so high that the kids couldn't even reach them. Now if the music had been much lower in volume you could have heard them but that wasn't the case as it was extremely loud drowning out the voices on stage unless they happened to get close enough to the microphones on stage.

If you want a baby sitting camp, then feel free to sign up. But if your child actually wants to do theater then don't be sucked into this monstrously overpriced and poorly run camp. It just isn't worth it. And it will only disappoint your child and you.

The kids here are either hand picked for their talent, or they are just that good at pulling talent out. It is definately the latter. They seem to take great pride in bringing out the best in everyone.
