No way, go somewhere else

I haven't been there since late 2006 so it might have changed but I doubt it. The price is cheaper then most, but SO not worth it. I worked there. The owners don't care about the children or the staff, just money. They don't pay their teachers enough (about 6.00/hr). Most of the people their are single mothers (no offense intended) so they HAVE to work. There is a lot of favoritism, especially when a teachers child(ren) are there. They had four different directors (managers) in two years! The highest turnover rate I've EVERY seen, I could name 20 girls off the top of my head who worked their within a year. When I worked there they were EXTREMELY understaffed so we were lucky if we got 10 min. breaks. They didn't want to pay overtime but they wouldn't let the director hire more staff until they had enough children enrolled. They don't really tell the parents if their children act up until it becomes a non-avoidable issue. Their was a boy there (who was WAY too big to be in daycare) who had three siblings in the daycare with him and he tortured them all the time, then acted like he didn't do it (I think they gave him leeway because he was partially deaf but that doesn't excuse this behavior) He threw a football as hard as he could at his sisters head and nobody said anything, so I finally told his mom (she was pretty mad). He ripped the tail off of the chin. (intentionally, he was swinging it around by it's tail) and didn't even get talked to! The toys in the school-age room aren't interesting for any child over 5. The baby room and the toddler rooms aren't that bad except that they need better and different toys, but the owners won't buy any and will only reimburse the teachers for $10 A MONTH! You can't rotate the toys, because their has to be a certain amount of things in the room accessible to the kids at any given time. We had to fill out a schedule for the next week on Thursdays but never got to do any of it because of lack of supplies (again the owners didn't want to buy any). One day the owners wife, (he is hardly ever at the 41st & Mingo center except to drop off the checks) came by and I showed her a evacuation crib that when you moved it the wheel popped off, she just said "okay and..." I was like "well shouldn't we not use it or move it or something" she said "oh just move it" I was applauded! It's still there and in use as far as I know. They want you to change a child's diapers every hour on the hour. If you have 8 children (ratio in the 2yr old room) to change, 5 min. per change that's 40 minutes, you don't have time to do anything with them. Angie, in the three year room did WONDERS but when she wanted a raise, they refused because they didn't like her! She went to a different daycare in Owasso (where she lives) and is much happier. During the summer, they do a lot of activities like going swimming or the zoo but the parents have to pay for that out of their out pocket and they don't provide alternative activities at the center. The little kids also don't go anywhere or do anything except for (sometimes) the two year olds get to pay in the sprinklers in the summertime.
PROS: cheap price, summer activities
CONS: understaffed, overworked, low pay, high turn-over rate, ratios not kept, favoritism, no discipline, greedy non-caring owners, & no age appropriate toys

still unsure
by k l.
I just put my child in their care and I am still unsure about the place. The staff is friendly but when I pick my child up they never tell me how he did that day or what he did. I always have to ask. It also seems like their are more children than staff to care for the children. But I do drop my child off early so Im hoping that maybe not all of the staff is their yet. The price is great the hours are wonderful for working parents. Also they have cameras in each room which is a real plus. I wish there was more teacher parent interaction and then I would be happy with the place.
PROS: price and operating hours
CONS: no staff to parent interaction about how ur child is doing

Diamond in the rough.

My child has been in this center for two years. Yes, the building is older but the management seems to keep it in good shape. There are constant improvements. But the main reason I continue to be a patron is because of the staff and the classes. The staff truly cares about the kids and enjoy them. I know when I leave my child there, she will be well-taken care of.

Oh, where to start? The teacher to child ratio is never on target and it seems like its not enforced like it should be. I see a lot of areas that needs improvement. The building should be updated and checked for unsafe toys. One perk about this place is the staff is really friendly and seems caring. You should take a tour here before making your final choice on child care.
PROS: Price and Friendly Staff.
CONS: Needs improvement in many areas.
