I read a lot of the reviews before I started doing a major transaction with them in hopes that I would get some insight. Here are my discoveries (that in fact both the positive and negative stuff are both kind of true)
+They are REALLY working with me on doing a trade in for the saxophone that I wanted though I had trouble generating the funding. They had in fact worked out a deal that I could practice on the new horn in the store until I bought it. They were also willing to offer the sale price on the new horn though the sale didn't start until August 15th or so
+Price are comparable (equipment wise) to what one would find on the internet (though the reeds and smaller stuff was much higher)
-They did fail to call when my other saxophone repair was complete
-They seem to have one employee for each specialty and have tied hands if that employee is gone or off for the day

Overall I believe their service is tied mostly to friendly customers and positive attitudes (which really is that way for everything). Some of you had bad experiences there but during my year in OKC they are the only place that I've gone to and I've had less trouble than I have anywhere else but Weatherford, OK. Soooo my advice is to have a clear idea of what you need and they will do the best they can to help but if they DON'T give you what you want, stay calm and they will fix it.

Took two ukulele's to Larsen's. One had one string and the other had two strings. Had them put the three strings on one ukulele and new strings on other one. Gave my cell phone number for them to call when finished. It's been two weeks so I called and they said it was finished and would be $27. (Why didn't they call me?) When I went in to pay, man said it would be $38. I told him when I called I was told $27. He said it's $38 to have new strings put on both ukuleles. I told him I had only wanted new strings on one. He said (without looking at the ukuleles), "Oh then that will be $26, so I paid them $26. (Seems like they can't get their prices straight.) Came home and there were new strings on one ukulele but THE STRINGS WERE NOT TUNED! I have never known of a place to put new strings on an instrument without tuning them. I will not go to Larsen's again. I will go ANYWHERE but Larsen's.

I went to larsons to sell a piano and the salesman said they don't buy used pianos they will sell on consignment. This was Thursday afternoon and he would call me Friday. This is my mothers piano and Larsons is less than a mile from her house. I live in Mustang so I went there Friday and waited all day and I finally called at 4:30 and Ward said he could come tomorrow so I spent all day Saturday waiting and now it is Tuesday and still no call. This is just RUDE.

I bought an instrument with them for my son, made 1st month payment there in the store. When the 2nd month payment came due, they swiped my information and the bank denied the payment. A gentlemen called me to inform me that my payment was denied, when I asked him if the system gave a reason, he says "no", but I ASSUME its because lack of payment"! I got online and checked my account and there was money there, when asked if maybe they wrote the card number down wrong he got upset and said no, but I made him read it to me anyway. They had written down the wrong expiration date. Did I get an apology from him for his caddy remark? No, not even a thank you for your payment and clarification on their part. needless to say I will be going to a different music store.

Just a note to say how refreshing it is to have "Ray" a the OKC store go that unexpected extra mile to assist me......When he didn't have the needed Essential sheet music my daughter needed, he offered to call Edmond to find that they had it and would ship a copy down to OKC the next day....I was thrilled! He then chased me out into the parking lot when he found a copy in the backroom.....Kudos to Larsen because of people like Ray...........Jay

Larsen's has always been a great music store. We have done business with Larsen's for the past 40 years. It beats every music store I have been to with the exception of a couple in New York.

We have purchased band instruments, stringed instruments, mouthpieces, music and other accessories. We have used them for a number of repairs. The staff is always knowledgeable, courteous and will work with you to meet your needs. Their prices are competitive.

We no longer live in Oklahoma City, but will drive a few hours to Larsens to make our major music purchases, most likely a professional level trombone.

To Katie: perhaps you gave them the wrong number, or something. It's your responsibility to call and check on your instrument. I can't imagine anyone at Larsen's talking to a customer without provocation. I'm sure Edmond music would love your business, until they make a mistake or miscommunicate with you.

To S.O.: Most professional instrument repair shops will not work on the instruments bought on the internet. They cannot afford the liability if something should happen to the instrument, as most instruments bought inexpensively are inferior quality made in China or Korea. Most school districts will not accept these instruments to be used in their programs.

We were holding a camp with 85 kids and our keyboard started having key problems. They fixed our keyboard promptly and were nice enough to lend us a loner. Thank you. Walt Myrick

I took my flute in to be repaired 3 weeks ago. This has been the third time in six weeks it's been there to be fixed because their repairman can't seem to get it right.

I was originally told the repair would take 2 days. After 3 weeks, I still hadn't gotten it back, so I called to check the status. The repairman told me it had been done for 2 weeks. When I asked why I hadn't gotten a phone call, he told me he called me twice and left messages - which he did no such thing - and then proceeded to call me ignorant and a liar.

WHAT HAPPENED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE??? I can't believe someone would have the balls to say such a thing to a CUSTOMER! I've never been treated this badly in my life and I never will again because I am never setting foot inside that store ever again!

I'm taking my business to Edmond Music from now on. The people are much nicer and work in a much more timely fashion.

I'd like to make it clear that is is my experience with the repairman only. If all you're doing is looking to buy something, they are a great place to go and the salesmen are very nice and very helpful.

I play in the church orchestra and had a key not closing on my alto sax. The repair person at Larsen's was absolutely wonderful! He fixed the key that needed it and showed me one other key that needed tightened up, taking care of that as well. The people at this store are professional, courteous, and helpful!

I bought a new student violin fro my daughter and told her to take it to Larsen's so that they could put the bridge on it and tune it for her. When she got there they told her that it "looked like a cheap violin purchased from the internet" and that they "wouldn't touch it". I was appalled! WHAT HAPPENED TO COURTEOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE?!? It was bad enough the they would not even attempt to help her but also to HUMILIATE her. I'll take my business elsewhere next time! BAD BUSINESS, LARSEN'S!

Larsen is your typical generalist music store, carrying pianos, guitars, basses, recording equipment, etc. Staff is friendly enough. Not much used gear, so not a high priority for the vintage gear or used bargain finder.
