It's not like it use to be
I haven't been there for about five years, and heard that the landing strip was closed. That would be the part that I miss the most. I use to go there quite often via airplane from Tillamook. Did a little fishing at the pond. The only thing close to flying there now is in the name (Flying M Ranch) Too bad so sad!

The bar and dining in the main lodge appears to be closed now as a large portion of the property was separated and sold. The campgrounds is still open. The trails are very nice. It is an incredibly scenic area. The road to it is very rough gravel in some areas, especially with the recent weather that came through.

This is a wonderful huge loghome ranch up in the mountains near Carlton and Yamhill. Takes a long and somewhat rough gravel road to get there but it's well worth it. I've been going there since I was a little girl and have seen it grow, burn to the ground, be rebuilt and prosper again. Now I take my kids. My son absolutely LOVES watching the small planes come in on the landing strip right infront of the main lodge and parking area. My daughter and I love the horses you can rent for nice quiet trail rides up into the surrounding hills. Plus you can also camp at the campsites provided there and bring your own horses for your own trailriding! My sister is getting married there next year as they have a beautiful little outdoor area next to the lodge and little river for the ceremony and the main lodge is perfect for receptions! And they have little cabins you can rent for a great honeymoon or weekend getaway! Such a romantic and/or relaxing place to visit...and really has something for everyone!

PROS: Great diversity! Something for everyone in the family!
CONS: Brunch may run a little expensive...but it's worth it!

We recently went on a "steak fry ride" (horseback) here and spent the night in the motel. The ride was about 45 minutes up into the hills (walking horses only), then a great outdoor dinner with a guitar playing/singing couple as we ate. The ride back was short (15 minutes) but the kids enjoyed it all. The lodge offers dining and a bar. We spent the night and the rooms are neat but sparse - - not TVs or phones. Campsites are available. Sunday morning was breakfast in the lodge which for $7.95 was a great bargain and plenty of food for a hungry bunch. Located in a great setting outside Yamhill.

PROS: A great getaway
CONS: Make sure to reserve far in advance
