Porters is one of my favorites. Whenever friends from out of state come to visit Porters is where we go first. The atmosphere is great, they have done an excellent job in remodeling and capturing the ambiance of the old train station. I especially like their steaks. I recommend Porters with confidence.

It was great. I got the shrimp, husband got the steak. It was just great. They even had local fruits and wines. They were great with my two kids. We will go back again.

Cheap bar food. Cheap to you because the freezer bags of it are cheap to them. Dinner not too bad. Expensive not because it is super pricey, but in reference to it's 'quality.' Good enough atmosphere, so your long wait for service isn't too unpleasant. Whatever. There are certainly worse places in Medford (though several much better).

Porters is a beautiful restaurant in Medford's old train station. The food is perfect- they utilize local pears and Rogue Valley Creamery cheeses in their dishes. The bar food is good, too. For a really nice dinner in Medford, this is the place to go. Highly reccommended!

I had the pleasure of ordering the Rogue Valley salad and it was wonderful. It used the areas cheese and pears to create a delectable salad. Very much worth ordering. The Chicken Marsala was tender, moist and tasty - a great combination. The atmosphere is both great for business or romance. A quality restaurant in the center of Medford. No need to go to Ashland for quality, upscale food.

We have few really good restaurants in the Medford area. This one is the best. From the beautiful decor, wonderful food and the great staff it is a wonderful way to spend the evening. Can't find enough good things to say about this great restaurant.

I have been a "Summertime Regular" for about 4 yrs., and I must say that the ambiance and character of Porters is amazing. The back patio, with its strategically placed Adirondack patio furniture, greenery and heat lamps are a perfect setting for after-work cocktails into the cool Rogue Valley evenings with family, friends and peers. The food is excellent, with creative specials that change daily along with the tried-and-true everyday menu fare. The Rogue Valley Salad is a wonderful start to a meal, featuring blue cheese, Oregon pears and toasted hazelnuts. The wine list features award-winning wines from some of the most highly regarded Oregon wineries to compliment any meal.

I must say, however, that the service at Porters has become extremely disappointing, slow and unfriendly. Recently I waited 15-20 minutes after being seated to have my drink order taken, without an apology for wait time. The bar waitstaff has become seemingly discriminatory against the younger crowd or perhaps takes personal judgment to the workplace, which reflects poorly upon the business and is absolutely unacceptable. It is sort of a joke among many locals that Porters has been voted Mail Tribune's 'Readers Choice' for Best Waitstaff, and that their long-time bar manager was voted 'Friendliest Bartender' in the Medford Sneak Preview. Porters is the only full-service restaurant of it's class in Medford, and I see it as comparing a Lexus with a Toyota. It's the same thing but one is dressed nicer, therefore it tends to get the more favorable vote.

Porters is a good place for the ambiance, great food and cocktails as long as you are willing to sacrifice service. You may, however, get lucky and find yourself seated in a section with a new waitperson who has not yet been influenced by the arrogance of the Porters waitstaff.

I gave Porters a below-average rating because regardless of how great the food and atmosphere may be, terrible service can certainly ruin your dining experience.

We, ( a party of 4), were seated promptlyand courteously and offered dinner suggestions and specials. Though prices struck me as a little excessive, they seem to be in line with other places of this type. We agreed that the food was uniformly excellent. We'd go back.

Cons: Be prepared to wait on busy nights, even with reservations.

The ambiance is one of the best in Medford yet the food is only average for a restaurant that bills itself as one of the top restaurants in the area. I did not experience the kind of customer service that other reviewers did but making reservations on a Friday night definitely helped. I would have to say that we got B- food for A prices.

Food is above average but service is well below average. Staff seems to be more interested in their own personal issues that customer service.

The food I crave. However the service is on again off again. I have had dinner and drinks take up to 3 hours and not by choice. And have not always been treated so polite. But I always seem to go back for more.

We just visited Porters and were pleased with our high quality dinners and the wonderful ambiance. Surely one of the nicest restaurants in Medford, Porters is perfect for a romantic dinner or special celebration. We had the prime rib and chicken marsala - both were delicious as was the house salad with a lemon vineagrette dressing. Our waitress was cheerful and helpful and most of the diners were on a date, with a spouse or with the golf buddie (boo). There is also a full bar likely equally classy with dim lighting, dark wood and gorgeous decorating. If you're in Medford, check out Porters for a good dinner.

PROS: Ambiance, value, service, food
CONS:

I've had many great dining experiences and Porters ranks right at the top. Wonderful menu and daily specials, fantastic atmosphere and world class service. The building is a must see. A refurbished 1910 train station! It also has a hugh, vine shaded patio and the beautiful bar is always hoppin'.
