          I went to this place 1 time before to do my brakes and they were quite helpful, but the 2nd time I went in to get a routine oil change, and they BROKE MY RADIATOR MOUNTS!!! After finding the sagging radiator under the hood (2 hrs after i left) I was livid... I was in Astoria and had no way to get home..luckily a very friendly (canadian) camping neighbor used "zip-ties" to secure my radiator!!!! I called Damon and after repeatedly denying the issue, he hung up on me!! I contacted the owner and he put the radiator in at cost, which was still not my fault, and said QUOTE" THIS IS ALL I WILL DO FOR YOU"!!!! He knew he was wrong, but still would not take full responsibility. and when i went up to retrieve the "fixed" car I asked for the broken radiator (to check for "leaks") and they "threw it away"...plus Ken had an "emergency" and wasn't even there to talk to after the job was done!!! This place is just dishonest and they prey upon the ignorant... I am not a stupid man and they still were able to get $125 out of me.. PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR YOUR AUTOMOTIVE NEEDS!! I would hate this to happen to someone else!!

          Response from the owner Reposted September 21, 2011- Reposted Feburary 8, 2012 Original Response August 12, 2011 Thank you for your feedback from your December 13, 2010 & January 20. 2011 visits to our shop. 1998 Nissan Sentra SE with 145,000 miles arrived with an over heat no start issue. 12/13/10. You requested a complete inspection and estimates of recommended repairs needed. You choose to replace the radiator only and due to economic reasons, you did not want the radiator hoses replaced or any other repairs done that that time. 1/20/11. Hoses were replaced. Estimates are always based on symptoms since it is to costly for the customer to have everything disassembled and inspected. It is a standard policy for any shop to have you sign a waiver for metal-on-metal back brakes which would be a liability to the shop if any thing were to happen. Reliability & safety of your vehicle and you is the shops main concern. Thank you

          As a broke, post-college 24-year-old woman, I've owned a total of 8 cars older than 1993, so I'm quite familiar with potential car problems. However, I haven't the tools or the space to be my own mechanic. I took a car here for diagnosis and was happy with the service I received and appreciated their follow-up emails. However, I found the particular individual I worked with very patronizing. It wasn't just me - my sister, who was with me, actually said something about it first. They diagnosed my car as having either a bad water pump or timing belt but of course didn't actually know unless they opened the whole thing up.

          I decided to take my latest car to them when it developed a coolant leak. I suspected a hose but wasn't sure which one. The particular person who worked with me this time looked at my engine without running a pressure check, and told me my radiator was bad. He spoke to me like I was a child.

          I left and took it to Jiffy Lube (of all places). They ran a free pressure check and found the leak in the heater hose. They don't fix that, so I took it to another mechanic who confirmed this and is fixing it right now. Pacific might have charged me $500 for something I didn't need, but they didn't get any money from me today.

          Finding a reliable and reasonably priced mechanic is not always the easiest venture. Having lived in the SW Portland area for over thirty years, I??ve been to several in my locale. I am greatly pleased to know I have finally found one I can always count on. I recently had a complete front and rear brake job (including new rotors, ect) and the price was much lower than I expected. Just out of curiosity, I checked with a couple of competitors and they weren??t even in the same ball park. Les Schwab wanted nearly $300.00 more, and Keith??s Automotive was almost $200.00 more than Pacific Car Care.

          More than the price, however, is the way I am always treated fairly and with the utmost respect. Ken makes it a point to thoroughly explain the process and all the necessary repairs. He also makes it clear what things do not need to be replaced and why . In other words, he doesn??t try to tack on additional, needless parts or labor and he always tries to educate me without talking down or insulting my intelligence. That approach seems so commonplace throughout the industry and I have no tolerance for that. One of the other things I really like about Pacific Car Care is how quick and efficient they are. I do not like being without my vehicle and they don??t keep it any longer than is absolutely necessary. I am an extremely happy customer.
