I have tried pilates off and on over the years, but I never really "got it" until I went to Pacific NW Pilates! The teachers here are amazing! They know just what exercise your body needs and how to make you feel just the right muscles to create that movement. I have so much fun in their classes I don't even notice how hard I have been working! Over the last four months I have lost two dress sizes and I can't believe how great I feel!

I have been going to pilates classes here since 2005. And it is always the best hour of my day. My teacher, Cheryl, has never had us do the same thing twice. She is so skilled, that she can be creative, while ensuring every part of your body will be worked.

The studio is very friendly, warm and accepting of all kinds of body types and people.

It's such a relaxing, strengthening exercise, and I always feel like I've had a massage when I've left!

This place is great. They really know how to zero in on your issues. I've never had personal training before, but if you have any injuries you're trying to get over, it's the best way to go! There's lots of "core" work, but it's been great for my back too. They go at just the speed I need and I'm feeling better than I ever thought I would. I'll be a customer for life now!

Pros: the personal attention can't be beat

Cons: small group classes are great, but there aren't enough of them

The teachers here are really amazing and so accepting. And once you do Pilates, you?ll be wondering why you ever waited so long. The exercises are interesting, not mindless. Whether you?re doing them on the mat or the equipment, they are so much better than anything you?ll ever do in a gym because you?ll work more muscle groups at the same time and you?ll have someone looking over you to make sure you get it right. My posture has improved tremendously!

Pros: It's a full-body workout

Cons: None, really

I go to the Vancouver studio in Salmon Creek. And I take the 6:30 a.m. reformer class. I had never taken a reformer class before and I have been a regular for over a year. It's the best thing I have done for my back. I have no more pain when I sit and stand up. I cannot say enough about reformer classes; everyone should be doing pilates!

At age 71, with stiffness increasing, body parts crying out for attention and movement becoming restricted, I ventured into PNW Pilates in a desperate state and found a treasure! The staff was welcoming and enthusiastic with an expertise far beyond my expectations in a relaxed and professional atmosphere. Their attention to detail in planning an individual program with ongoing assessment documented for continuity is remarkable in its effectiveness. The private sessions are individualized to the tiniest detail, group classes are small with individual attention, instructors continually praise and appraise. Their enthusiasm is contagious, their proficiency outstanding. I am hooked. I appreciate that they too continue to improve their knowledge and techniques with ongoing education.
My transformation has been subtle but dramatic: increased flexibility, identification and resolution for nagging problems, improved posture & muscle tone with an increased well-being thanks to Lisa and Joanna whose positive encouragement, combined with skill and mastery, are saving my life style.

I've been attending Pilates classes since November 2004. It is like a second home for me. I recently had baby and attended class up to the week that I delivered. Within just a few shore weeks I was able to get back into my normal clothes weeks after delivery and I truly owe it to Cheryl, my instructor the past two years. She kept me motivate and customized movements so I could continue to participate.

The Tuesday Ball Bosu and Beyond class is the best...HIGHLY recommend that they expand it to either allow a few more people in the class OR open up another session another night of the week.

By FAR - THE best pilates studio in town! Amazingly qualified instructors who know what they are doing and will take the time and go the extra mile to make sure you are doing things correctly. Matt classes are brutal. Reformer classes will sculpt and tone. Yoga, bosu, ball...Attend classes at PNWP and you will stand straighter, walk taller and discover abs you never knew you had!

I had decided to become a certified Pilates teacher so I enrolled in several Pacific Northwest Pilates certification courses. I took Functional Anatomy, Intensive Mat Plus and Intensive Reformer, and I'm very pleased with both the course content and the PNWP teaching staff. The instructors, which include the co-owners, are extraordinarily knowledgeable and experienced. They are very helpful and encouraging, and they really care about their subjects and students. I highly recommend these classes for anyone interested in teaching Pilates.

The instructors here are not only super smart and intuitive, they are EXTREMELY patient. They?ve figured out what I need to do to recover from an overuse injury that?s been plaguing me for years (one that no doctors could even figure out, much less help me with it). I can?t say enough good things about them! Plus, I see people of ALL ages and sizes here ? senior citizens, athletic types, extremely overweight people. It?s a comfortable, low-stress environment. You don?t have to be in shape already to feel like you belong here. And they have a lot of different options for getting started.

This is a great pilates studio!! When I first moved to Portland I checked out several studios in the Portland area and this one is the best!! The teachers know how to modify their classes so that everyone can benefit. When I went to other studios in the area, I felt like the teachers didn't know how to work with a group that had people in it at different levels. I highly recommend this one!

They have the best teachers here! Classes are small and really geared towards your skill level. The teachers here really know how to kick it up a notch and make you discover something new in an exercise you've done many times before. I sent my aunt here after her knee replacement surgery and she is back to skiing now! We love this place!
