We just finished our 3rd set of classes at Happy Go Lucky and are so glad that we did. The instructors use positive methods for pups with great results. We had two different instructors, and although they each had different styles, both were fantastic. Our dog definitely benefited from HGL. Class sizes are small and you receive lots of individual attention. We drove in from Beaverton once a week just to take classes here and will probably take more in the future. Classes here would be a great gift for a new puppy owner.

I LOVE HGL dog training! I own 4 big dogs, & over the past 6 years I have taken all my dogs to many different classes there. Originally I was recommended to go to HGL by veterinarian Dr. Kimberly Booth at Canyon Pet Hospital. Her opinion was important to me, because she is extremely knowledgeable & interested in animal behaviour (both canine & feline), and she felt the staff & classes offered at HGL were, in her opinion, some of the very best in Portland. Over the last 6 years I have also attended several other dog training facilities here in the Portland area & I can say unequivocally that the folks & classes offered at HGL are unparalleled. There are many reasons I feel this way, which I will expand on a bit.First, regardless to whether your 1st class at HGL is Puppy Kindergarten or a later Companion OB class- their teachers have the ability to condense all of the most important current positive training techniques into the most important (& "rememberable") basics that will (hopefully) lay the critically important foundation to the rest of you & your dog's life together. The classes all have a generous proportion of teachers to students - so you get individual attention and plenty of hands on help, especially on things where 'timing' is critical! The diverse staff of teachers all have many years of experience (even some of the ones that seem impossibly young to know so much!), the classes are really FUN(!), innovative & fast moving. All the trainers obviously love what they do for a living & their enthusiasm shows. Most importantly, classes are carefully laid out & well.planned, While the class is relaxed, being neither too loose or too rigid, classes also don't ramble around in a disorganized, time-wasting manner, the way so many other dog training places can. For instance, the very first class in a beginning puppy class series is taught without bringing your dog to class, and runs quite a bit longer than other classes in your series and while at first this might seem odd - turns out it is the perfect way to do the class! Classes at HGL are significantly more interesting due to their forethought & planning. Finally, in my opinion, while you might like some teachers better than others at HGL, each trainer is exceptionally well-qualified to be teaching & I appreciate each ones "uniqueness" & slightly different input. So, YES!! Have some fun & take your four legged friend to HAPPY GO LUCKY at their convenient, close-in SE Portland location.

We always recommend Happy Go Lucky for training to our clients at the vet. They do a great job and the dogs that get trained by them are very well behaved. Check them out for training and day care!

I took my dog to the begining ob. class and he loved it! We both learned what he needed and then some fun things too! The trainers know what they are doing and it shows! I am now in class with my puppy for kindergarten and I am looking forward to the other classes they offer for both of my dogs! Really organized and keep on track even with unwilling dogs! Schedule is great and variety too! Take your pup and see the results the for yourself!

My experience with this company was positive the whole way through. The trainer for the intermediate puppy class was A+ and all of the staff were friendly, accommodating, and so good with the dogs. My dog learned how to interact with other dogs and also gained a lot of great behaviors in a safe and fun environment. I highly recommend them.

My dog and I have taken the beginner and intermediate obedience classes and have also completed the action/distraction class. We enjoy the teaching methods, the friendliness and helpfulness of the instructors, and my dog and I have learned much with their techniques for training.

We have brought my puppy to their puppy kindergarten and puppy intermediate classes. My dog has not only learned behavioral skills but also got invaluable socialization at a young age. We are now considering taking our dog to their daycare regularly.

I took my pup to a training course here, and it was so beneficial for him. The teacher was very knowledgable, approachable, and made the class fun. No snobbery involved!
They give you little coupons for being on time, particpating, etc etc. for redemption after the class is finished towards merchandise or another class.
The facility is clean and open, but parking can be an issue.
