I am late posting this review. Lew and Shane have the most outstanding customer service out of anybody I have ever dealt with in any industry. Being deployed I was not able to bring the car down to him, but I was giving it to my friend so I wanted it to be nice. They went to my storage unit, picked up my car, drove it to his shop, repaired and painted the bumper, then drove it to the tire shop, and even drove it down to Wilsonville to get a wiring problem repaired. And the paint/repair of the bumper costed me less than $400. I saw the car out when I went to visit out in North Carolina a few weeks ago, and Maaco Portland did an outstanding job on it. I could not be more satisfied. Amazing job guys and if you read this thank you!!!!
Believe the terrible reviews this place gets. no expertise, job took 2x as long as quoted and cost $500 more than estimate. poor communication the entire experience. car returned missing pieces, paint job had to be redone. to top it all off - failed to properly replace radiator hose clamp leaving me on the freeway with an overheated engine with antifreeze all over the freeway. disappointingly but unsurprisingly, failed to take responsibility for ANY of it. Went with them to save money, but at the end of a WEEKS LONG ORDEAL would have rather paid thousands more to work with someone honest, accountable, and with an iota of pride in the service they (claim to) provide.??
Lew took over about two years ago.
I am a retired, crusty old veteran, and had him repaint my 1984 Mazda 626, on the cheap.
He and his crew did themselves proud; the old 626 came out looking like new, and for less than a thousand dollars!
Lew Wood and Shane are great - their professional aptitude and attitudes make the difference!
All you folks out there with hot rods and classics - don't be worried about this shop! I lost my collector 1986 Audi 4000CS to an auto accident (not mine), purchased another not quite as old A6 Quattro to cherry out and replace the little one. What this shop was able to do after a crappy, cheap paint job by the former owner....AMAZING!!!
Highly recommend this shop and these artisans! (There was a nice little '56 Ford under their watch...looking pretty good and it is nowhere near done!) I think even The Beard would have been happy with this crew - nope, take that back - I KNOW he would have!
I have worked in the auto business for some time now. Of all the shops I have worked with, Maaco has the best customer service out of all of them.
I just got my car painted at the Portland Maaco and I couldn't be happier. My experience started before I even got there. Trying to find time to bring my car down there the only time I had was a SAT. afternoon after 3pm, but the website said they closed at 1. But I called ahead and the owner was more than happy to stay late so that I could bring my car in. When I got there he was in no hurry to get rid of me either. He spent over an hour patiently helping me look through paint chips trying to find the exact color that I was looking for.
When I couldn't find just the right shade of yellow he made arrangements with Sherman-Williams to custom mix a color to my specifications.
They checked and rechecked with me to make sure that the design of the racing stripes was exactly what I wanted.
Lew, the owner, is an endlessly friendly guy who has a passion for what he does, and is all about making the customer happy. The same can be said for his entier staff. Everyone I met was a pleasure to work with.
I wish that I had another car to get painted, just so that I could take it down to them.
If you need a vehicle painted or body work done I recommend this Maaco location 100% it will be a very pleasant experience. I recently had my Range Rover re-painted and I am very happy with the results. Lou and Shane are two awesome guys both with a great sense of humor. It was a great experience doing business with them, they are quick to resolve any issues you may have and the work they do is great. I will definitely be using them for all of my future paint and body work needs.
I could go on and on about how great the guys at Maaco on N. Ross are.
My experience with the folks at Maaco on N. Ross was great from the first phone call. I needed front and back bumpers for my '99 Toyota Camry, and I had been looking on eBay for cheap bumpers and calling local body shops to get painting/installation quotes. Most places I called wouldn't give me a quote over the phone or work with me. Shane at Maaco spent time with me on the phone. He listened. Not only was he able to get bumpers for me cheaper than on eBay, he gave me a complete quote within 20 minutes of my calling (he had to look up a price--said he would call me back within 10 minutes and did). He backed that up with an email and I was scheduled for bumper repair. When I took my car in, the bumpers were already painted for me and installation took an hour less than I'd expected. I was thrilled because I had stressed that the earlier they could be done, the better for my schedule and they listened! On top of that, they threw in some minor fixes for free. My car looks good!
Again--GREAT EXPERIENCE and BEST PRICE of all I called. The owner is super nice and Shane is friendly, considerate, and thorough. Need auto body repair? Call Maaco at N. Ross in Portland!
I'm happy I gave them a call. I was skeptical at first but a friend assured me that Lew and his team would do a great job. They did! My car was repaired quickly and for far less than the estimates I had received from the other collision shops. While I hope I don't get in another accident, I will take my car to Lew should I ever need another repair.
?Value? seems to be the buzz word in today?s current economic climate. The Maaco in Portland strives to provide the best value for everyone?s auto body repair needs.
I can attest to the fact that they do a fantastic job! I just had my 20 year old pickup truck painted (who can afford a new pickup these days?) and I love the new paint job. You wouldn?t believe the compliments I?ve received.
Everyone I dealt with was extremely professional, answered all my questions, did not try to sell me something I didn?t want/need and completed everything they promised on time and without any surprises. If I ever have another vehicle needing body work, the Portland Maaco will be my first and only stop. I had a wonderful experience and wish everyone operated their business like this Maaco.
What a great team!
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
Believe the poor reviews. no expertise, job took 2x as long as quoted and cost $500 more than estimate. poor communication the entire experience. car returned missing pieces, paint job had to be redone. to top it all off - failed to properly replace radiator hose clamp leaving me on the freeway with an overheated engine with antifreeze all over the freeway. disappointingly but unsurprisingly, failed to take responsibility for ANY of it. Went with them to save money, but at the end of a WEEKS LONG ORDEAL would have rather paid thousands more to work with someone honest, accountable, and with an iota of pride in the service they (claim to) provide.?
Pros: none that I was able to decipher
We were told that our car would be ready in four days and they had it for over two weeks. Communication was horrible and the work was sub par. We can still see two small dents and there is paint in places it shouldn't be. This after he called to tell us he had to do more work and tack on an extra $100. When we finally were able to retrieve our auto they had it parked on the dark street in the rain so we couldn't even inspect it before we left. The management has changed since the last review, but apparently the work hasn't.
Cons: No sence of Timeliness
Not only did it take them almost a month to fix my car (I was promised the repair could be done in a week) but when I went to pick my car up it was FILTHY! It had dust and dirt all over the inside and was not washed. I even had to get them to come out there and remove paint from window, windshield, and mirror. Not to mention the repair job was badly done. I seriously wouldn't take a hot wheel to these guys.
