When I moved to Portland, I went through Westaff to get work. I found that they didn't pay attention to what I told them on the application or to their face. I mentioned that I couldn't lift over about fifty pounds as I was recovering from a back problem, but they immediately placed me in a position where I was required to lift over 100 pounds many times a day. It was a really awkward day on the job not being able to do many of the tasks, but being required to stay.

This review is for the downtown office, which supplies temp staffing work for the entire Portland, OR metro area.

In my opinion, this is a temp service, that is not only not being truthful in the work they have available, but should you find something better than what they do have, they throw a big shit-fit.

I was in their office in early June 2005 to fill out an app, submit my resume and do their test to see if your a candidate for their work--at which they told me they had plenty of work available for me to do. Well, almost SEVEN weeks later, and after submitting apps for THREE other jobs they had available online, they finally offer me a short-term assignment paying just above minimum wage working for one week. This staffing service just DOES NOT have it together!!

When I spoke with Claudine one day about why was I not hearing back from them on positions I was applying for, they said ALL of their jobs that are posted are for RECRUITMENT purposes is all, doesn't mean there is a job available for it !

I worked just a day, before one other place I had applied at, called and offered me the job for much more than Westaff was paying me, but I would have to take the position at this newer job immediately. So I quit working here ( I left a very courteous reason as to why I couldn't finish this one week assignment ) and when I did, Darci, in particular ( Westaff placement staff ) was pissed off because I didn't let them know I had other places I was applying at and it put them in a "big loop". Excuse me, but where the hell were they when I was without any $ for almost two months of NO contact from them when I would attempt to reach them, and this was a TEMPORARY job and TEMPORARY service I was working for?!??

I heard on a informational program on the radio--and this aired on 20/20 tv program too, about how employers are playing mind-games with employees to get them to quit, fire them over little petty things that were not even an issue 5 years ago, and do s

PROS: Their office is in a nice location of downtown--that is the ONLY pro !!
CONS: Plays mind-games with you, wait WEEKS for any job offer, RUDE service ! :-(
