220 is a wonderful salon! They are friendly and take your needs seriously and are extremely skilled at what they do!
Unfortunately from what I have read from other reviews that 220 is obviously being attacked. Accounts have been created

This is a great salon and Jodie is a super talented, extremely professional, down to earth and just plain cool chick. Whoever is writing these bad reviews needs to grow up. I'm guessing a rival salon? It is obviouse to anyone with a brain that they are pure B.S. I have had my hair done by Nicci and Jodie and they are both great, they will listen to what you want and be straight with you about the results you can expect. My stupid fine hair is super healthy and has never looked better. They use great products and show YOU how to use them (and tools) at home so you can get the same look. Once I got highlights and I thought that they were not quite as bold as I wanted (but they looked great) so Jodie re-did them at no charge. She also lets me come in (free) to add a rinse if my hair gets to brassy (which it does because my hair has a ton of red in it.) Jodi bends over backward to make sure EVERY client is happy. I always see people in 220 who are having bad color/cuts done at other salons fixed. Jodi is amazing and I have recommended her to all my friends. Don't listen to the jealous...see for yourself!

Cons: downtown parking

Melissa is fantastic, the salon is beautiful and I leave every time feeling like a million bucks! I am so sorry for Salon 220 having to deal with the seriously mentally ill person who has posted over and over again negative and psychotic reviews that are stupid, immature and repetitive. This is internet harassment! Don't listen to a word, try Salon 220 for yourself!

Jodie is totally deceitful and will do whatever she feels like regardless of what you discuss. I have suffered damage to my hair that cannot be repaired. She hacked all my hair off after promising me she would not. Stay away iIf you like your hair. She overhauled mine after I asked for only a few inches cut off. It all was on the floor and she razored it to inches off my head. I have cried every day and do not recognize it. When I saw it, it was too late. Every move was deliberate from cutting the hair to my desired length before going to wash it to gain my trust. Then she kept my chair facing away from the mirror so I could not see what she was doing as she chopped off another twelve inches. Only an evil person would act this way. I feel sorry for your arrogance and misery and hope you find peace.

I went to 220 Salon many times before Karyn cut my hair and the other two stylist were great and I would totally recommend them. Since the other two were so great I thought I would be safe, so I tried Karyn. She did the opposite of what I wanted, it looked fine to begin with but after two weeks it was a total mess. I think she is safe for long layers and bobs, but just be cautious. The next stylist I saw told me that they could not cut my hair for at least two months, until it grew out some. She seemed to think that Karyn didn't know how to cut hair.

I had the most unfortubate experience at 220. It has been over a year since I walked in and my hair will never be the same. As I sit here now, it is still shorter than it was promised over a year ago and totally thinned out. It is unrecognizable. I have had a year of heinous hair days, nasty comments and tragic photos. I had beautiful, healthy hair and it is now, a full year later, still choppy and full of flyaways due to Jodi. She lied to me when she asked what length I wanted it, cut it to that length, asked if that was good, I said yes and then she turned the chair away from the mirror and proceeded to chop it all off, razor it to a thinness I have not recovered from and tell me it needed to go. She styled it and added so many products that I could not see the extent of the damage until I went home and washed it. I called ans was told to come back in. I did go back to ask why and see if it could be salvaged and she was unapologetic and had no explanation. I appreciate all the spin this salon is trying to do. All I can say is I am a real person who this really happened to. And I am sure I am not alone.

There was a feature on NPR recently about how businesses are being attacked on sites like this. The example they sited was a wedding dress place that had a lot of positive reviews and then more recently a lot of negative reviews. They found out most were from the same computer. The clues are extreme opposite reviews (lots of 5 star and lots of 1 star), a similar style of writing, similar words, lots of reviews submitted the same day, etc. Seems to be whats going on here.

I went in with hair like lindsay lohan and left looking like edward scissorhands. It was not what I wanted or asked for. My hair is shredded from the razor used. Jodi is the owner of the salon. She is a unfortunate human being who is jealous of people with nice hair so she chopped mine to bits. I have cried every day since she assaulted me. Do not go to this chop shop. It will be years before my hair is nice again. I hate you Jodie

My hair was destroyed at this salon.
Jodie is a useless, talentless, pathetic excuse for a hairdresser. After a consultation which included photos and promises, she performed the worst cut I ever received. This looks nothing like I wanted. We agreed on a length and it is 5-8 inches shorter. It is at my jawline when we agreed to mid back. It is frizzy from all th razoring and my natural highlights look uneven and I need to change the color to cover this ugly cut. My friends, husband and co workers are aghast. My niece thought it was a joke. I think I could have done a better job blindfolded with one arm tied behind my back. Honestly, save yourself I have cried every day since the incident. I hate her for what she did and she should lose her license. Do not go here because she is no artist or guru, she is a butcher.

After one of our own was named "The Best Stylist" by Portland Monthly in August of 2008, 220 salon has received an onslaught of harsh reviews, many we believe to be false. 220 Salon DOES NOT pay for this site and we DO NOT agree with the ethics of this site or any other site in which they provide a platform for anonymous, individuals to bash a stylist or a business either unfairly, untruthfully, personally, and from one perspective. A platform in which people are allowed to provide no personal information, which creates no accountability. A site which so easily allows people to leave repeated reviews by the same person. A site which allows individuals to try and undermine a thriving business. WE DO NOT AGREE.

Since August this site has removed over 40 false reviews from our listing and are currently investigating the remaining post-Portland Monthly article reviews. Therefore, we advise anyone who is using this site for worthy information you either don't use this internet source or you look at the 7 years of reviews prior to the release of the August 2008 Portland Monthly article.

220 Salon includes 9 stylists that work diligently and passionately for their career's. This site has provide a way to undermine the success of not only a salon, but 9 individuals who love what they do.

220 Salon prefers face to face communication. The most important aspect of being a stylist is to make people happy, and the most rewarding. While we understand that we cannot make everyone happy, that remains our mission. Face to face, truthful and honest.

So proceed with caution and take this internet source of communication/referrals for what they are, unsubstantiated.

220 Salon is strong as a team. Growing as individual hairstylists, and are continuing to build as a salon the way we have been for the last 10 years.

Violated is the only way to describe how I feel after the massacre that is currently my hair. Jodi has no skill. I had beautiful hair which looks like someone took a garden whacker to it. She destroyed it by cutting it too short and we had a discussion and decided on the length I wanted. She cut 10 more inches off. It went from 3/4 down my back to my shoulders. She had me faced away from the mirror so I could not see what she had done. I would not suggest going to her because you can not trust her. Honesty. i could have gotten past the length if she gave me a good cut. It is the worst cut I ever received. She used a razor and thinned out what hair was left. People that knew me gasped and asked what happened. A friend I had not seen for a year asked if I was sick. At the end of the cut when I had a look of shock on my face and almost fainted and asked why she did that, she simply stated - it had to go. No apology, no reason, for the betrayal. We all have things that are our high points. For me, it was my hair. I was not trying to hang onto hair that was not healthy or had tons of split ends. I cried and cried. I went to another salon and someone tried to fix what was done, she told me if my hair grows 1/2 inch a month, it will be 2 years before it grows back. I am heartbroken because it was done without my consent. I could not in good faith suggest this salon.

It's nice to find a hip hair salon with a friendly attitude. The stylists were attentive and eager to strike up a conversation. The stylist I used, Liberty, is quite talented. Especially with hair color.

The only downside is that it's a little hard to find parking close by.

3 haircuts later and I will not be returning. The first time it was okay but there is always a learning curve with a new stylist. The second time I tried to explain what I did not like about the first cut but she did the same thing again. The last time (what can I say, out of convenience I tried again) my hair was messed up. would not recommend this place because the stylists only seem to cut hair one way. I was informed they were all trained by Bumble and Bumble so maybe that explains it. Scissors and a razor will be used on your hair. Honestly, I think it does more damage than good. I would suggest going somewhere else that everyone is not a clone and doing the same thing. The parking is not convenient and the overall atmosphere is just okay. There are better choices out there.

I have to laugh because I have been a client of Jodie's for six years and she always delivers above and beyond. She supplies great conversation and professionalism while still creating a fun work environment. It's also a nice change to see an entire salon full of women who all really get along and respect each other. Now my message for the pathetic low life who has nothing better to do than to attack a successful business woman. This is one person doing this and getting her creepy friends involved too. What? Do you not have a job? How do you have the energy to do this? I realized it's one person because the second Jodie gets a positive review she's slapped with at least three negative ones that all sound the same. 220 Salon calls it creative writing, I call it physco babble from a pathetic looser. If you're going to try to sabotage Jodie could you at least come up with a better word then "beeyatch" and maybe learn to spell her name right. These are
personal attacks! Also you have posed as a man on this crying about how your wife's hair isn't soft anymore. I'm sorry no man talks like that. Your a fake and a phony and I hope your embarrassed when you read this, but physco's probably don't carry that emotion. So get a life or at least check yourself into a clinic. I feel very sorry for you.

The stylists at 220 Salon have noticed that ever since one of our own was voted "Best in Portland" in the August 2008 issue of Portland Monthly, we have received a lot of harsh, negative reviews here on Citysearch. Prior to that we had only ever been reviewed positively. To us, they just don't ring true. Many of them include 'facts' we know to be untrue and we suspect that most of them are from one source. We stand resolutely behind our work and have nothing but gratitude for our clients, old and new. While we realize we cannot possibly please everyone, we have not recently received any complaints in the salon regarding either our work or our professionalism. We encourage anyone with an issue to contact us and we will do our utmost to make it right. In the meantime we hope that anyone reading these reviews enjoys the positive and takes the negatives for what we believe they are: creative writing.

I am tired of people making excuses for Jodi. You can call her what you want, an artist, a genius. I vehemently disagree. Listen, I may need a straightforward haircut because of my lifestyle. If I ask for it and you do not style hair that way, have the courtesy to tell me so I can leave. You do NOT have the right to say you are going to perform a service and then go off and do whatever you want. You affected my life in a very negative way when you decided to liberate from my hair. I work in a corporate environment. I do this to provide for my family. It does not make me less of an Oregonian nor do it make me a princess. I simply cannot conduct meetings with funky hair and be taken seriously. NO person has the right to do that to you because they believe they know best. Jodi, if people are angry and attacking your character it is because you did this to them. You did it to me and I do not forgive you. It has been 6 months and my hair is nowhere near what it was. I have been the subject of ridicule because you felt you knew better and most importantly NEVER gave me the CHOICE to say no. You did what you wanted and I was left to deal with the consequences. That is NOT a good person. That is NOT a good stylist. That is NOT a trustworthy person.
Learn your lesson from all of the bad reviews. You are supposed to perform a service and if you are incapable or unwilling then tell the client what you are planning on doing and give them the ability to say no thank you and leave. That IS a person of character.

Cons: Jodi will do what she wants, not what you ask for

.

After reading some reviews I felt inclined to write one of my own. I have also been going to Jodie for 8+years. Even when I lived in LA I would wait to be in Portland to have my hair cut by Jodie. Her color and cuts both are excellent. I have never been disappointed. In fact, every time I leave I feel great and can't wait to go back! If you like straight forward, boring cuts then don't go to Jodie. She is artistic and highly trained in trendy and current cuts. The posts that attack her character are so ridiculous I almost have to laugh! I will continue going to Jodie as long as she is at 220 Salon!

I had long beautiful hair and Jodie hacked it to pieces. She has an idea of how people's hair should look, and doesn't appear to care what the client wants. I cried for days after my cut, and people literally commented on how horrible it looked, following this hack job. PLEASE if you are looking for a new salon, SKIP this salon. The only worse hair cut I've had in my entire life, was when I was 7 years old and I cut my own hair with plastic scissors.
My hair still looks dreadful, months later. I look like I have a cross between a mullet, and like a reject from a 1980's rock hair band.

I've been going to Jodie for 10+ plus years, as have my entire family, We've recommend her and the salon to countless friends and associates, men and women alike and have never had any express any displeasure with her or the salon.

Look if you're a yuppy princess this probably isn't the place for you. However if you're a person who considers yourself a Portlander you'll fit right in.

Not only is my hair wonderful (thank you Jodie) , but everything about this salon is wonderful. I have referred all of my friends and family and clients to this salon for so many years and we all love this salon. We also love all of the stylist who work there, so open and accepting. Thank you 220!

I have been going to this salon for the last year and a half and have loved every hair-cut and color that Jodie has given me. Whoever has been writing all the negative reviews must have alterior motives or a personal vendetta but nothing could be further from the truth. I have tremendous confidence in Jodie's talent and ability to give me a great cut and color each time. I have short thick hair and it is crucial to get a precise cut that I literally have to do nothing to until the next cut. My hair looks fantastic for over 10 weeks which is basically unheard of for short hair. I love Jodie and the salon and I highly reccommend it.

Tomorrow I am going in for a consultation with a new stylist. It has been four months since I went to Jodie and she completely destroyed my hair. I have lived with this for a long time and it as not been pleasant. At the time, it seemed I was making a wise choice. In this 4 months, I have suffered the humiliation and comments of the butchering of my hair. I needed to purchase a flat iron, curling iron and several bands, clips and holders. I used to shower, comb my hair and leave the house. No matter the cut, my hair used to be easy to style until now. I am brokenhearted when I look at photos both now and previous honestly feeling that my hair will never return to its original lustre. The cut was ill-performed, unskilled, rushed and horrible. I did not give free will to do whatever. I asked questions, gave suggestions and we finalized the overall look, length and style before one hair was cut. I walked out looking nothing like we discussed. My hair looks nothing like it used to. I have no doubt at some point or with some people Jodie performs well. I was not one of the lucky ones. Whatever the reason she chose to do this, I do not know. I cannot speak for her. I do warn others that before you assume you will receive her best, be concerned because I received her worst. I am completely uncomfortable with the idea of having someone new try to style my hair again. My trust in stylists was shattered. It makes me sad she smiled at my face and allowed me to believe she would do her best and she betrayed me. I have read others' personal attacks on her and I understand the anger. I feel I was attacked. When I left the salon, Jodie no longer has to live with what she did to me. Sadly, I do.

If you have long hair do not, I repeat. do not go to Jodi. She purposely cut off all my hair when I expressly said I did not want a big change in the length. It is not an honest mistake. There is no rhyme or reason she would do that. She said she was unable to grow her hair that long. I have had my hair cut many times by hairdressers who echoed the same sentiment and did not cut it all off. A foot of my hair is gone, more on the sides. This can not be undone or changed. My hair was healthy, no need to cut that much. I should have been the person to decide when I wanted to make that change, period. The cut is ugly, not because it is too short, because it is several layers. It is different lengths. There are waves and colics. She used a razor in a few places and started at my scalp. It is the ugliest haircut ever. There is no way you could honestly say this is a good cut. There is no way you can say you did not do this on purpose. Shame on you. You are a discredit to your profession. If you cannot rise above your own pettiness you should not cut hair. Run as fast as you can to another salon if you want to save your hair.

I HAVE BEEN A LONG TIME CLIENT, AS MANY OF MY FRIENDS AND REFERRALS. CLEARLY THERE IS A PERSONAL ATTACK ON THIS WONDERFUL, TALENTED, HARD WORKING GROUP STYLISTS. ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN IN THIS SALON WOULD FEEL THE EFFORT AND THE LOVE AND APPRECIATION FOR WHAT THEY DO AND I AM PERSONALLY OFFENDED BY THESE RUTHLESS ATTACKS THAT ARE OBVIOUSLY HOLDING A PERSONAL VENDETTA AGAINST MY HAIRSTYLIST WHO I LOVE AND ALL OF THE OTHER AMAZING PEOPLE THAT WORK THERE.
IM SORRY FOR ANYONE WHO HAS NOT EXPERIENCED THIS SALON AND WILL BE RELYING ON THIS CITY SEARCH SITE RATHER THAN HAVING A GREAT EXPERIENCE WITH 220 SALON...

What is happening here people? I was randomly looking through Citysearch and saw the blitzkrieg of awful reviews. Did anyone else happen to notice all the bad ones were written on the same day? Someone went after that salon and that stylist with a vengeance. Another tip, click on the reviewers name and see if they have written any other reviews. That will give you some idea of the validity of these reviews. Stylists are funny creatures. It does not escape me that someone who was fired or left on bad terms wouldn't sit down with a glass of wine and a few friends and bash someplace. This site can be a blessing and a curse. I dont know any of these ladies and have never been to the salon but in the interest of fairness, I needed to comment on this. Jealousy and Envy can make a simple person act awful and that is what I think happened here. I'm just sayin.

It's fascinating that these negative reviews started after Jodi was named best stylist in Portland in a local magazine. And that whenever a good review is posted, many follow soon after that bump it off the front page. Hmmm...? Someone needs to get a life. For real.

Don't believe the negative hype. I've followed Nicci from salon to salon, and I couldn't be more thrilled that she landed at 220. It's a great space with great people. Everyone is always friendly and welcoming. I let Nicci decide waht she wants to do with my hair - style and color - because I trust her implicitly. My most recent foray into bangs has brought so many compliments. And my color is always gorgeous.

I would whole-heartedly recommend Nicci and 220 to my friends. I often do, and they end up with amazing hair.

I want to share what a wonderful hair stylist Liberty is at hair salon 220. I drive all the way from West Linn just to see her. Her styling is so exceptional that I'm able to stretch my haircut up to 3 months! I have a really busy schedule as a business owner and mother of two very active children, so it is nice to go and be so well taken care of in such a lovely place.

Holy cow...all of a sudden, it seems like this salon is Portland's new favorite battlefield. Not wanting to add to the personal notes that these reviews have turned towards. Let's rate it like this:

A little bit about the scenario...

1: I have difficult hair and lots of it
2: I wanted to grow it out long, like a frickin' princess
3: I didn't want to cut any length off ever, since I'm growing it out
4: I didn't want to be spoken to in a salon, or anywhere for that matter, as though I am a preschooler or a puppy.

Enter salon 220...

1: No puppy talk, thank god. I am a grown person, and almost princess for crying out loud
2: I was told in order to grow out my thick, frizzy hair, I need to take off some of my damaged length, and keep it layered so it doesn't look like a brick. (Bricks aren't very royal). This will allow me to move forward in the princess process.
3: Received excellent cut, and some lovely highlights
4: Got less hair than I thought I wanted, but somehow it looked longer than when I came in. (The very same day, neighbors said how much longer my hair looked, and healthy too.)
5: After many months and cuts, my hair looks better and better, truly.
6: Am now a loyal client with ladies in waiting (referrals), and hair that actually fetches compliments instead of hats.

I always have had great experiences at 220, hope this is helpful, and doesn't land in the warzone.

The thing I love the most about 220 Salon is Nicola. She is fantastic! I send everyone I know to her. Each one of my friends that sees her is unique. The reason that I trust her for them is that she totally gets each individual person. I have never heard a complaint from any of my girl/boy friends that go to Nicola. When I first started going to her I wanted to grow out my hair color. I have pretty long hair and I thought the process would be hard and I would cave and get my hair re-colored. She did such a great job that I never worried about how my hair looked during the process. It's still long and all my own color. My cuts are great. I not only trust her with my hair but with my conversation. She wouldn't tell a fly. I also enjoy all the other people in 220. This is a salon that caters to everybody.

I can only describe my time at 220 as unbelievable in the worst way possible. I was misinformed that Jodie was good and went to get my hair done. We talked at length about what I wanted and what she recommended and what happened is nothing like any of it. I am under the impression that Jodie knows how badly she messed up my hair because she left before I paid and refused to return my call when I tried to see if she could repair what she had done. I was very polite and respectful and willing to give her a chance to repair the damage herself. A true professional and a person with inegrity would fix it. I am the one who was left to go to another person who needed to color correct and cut my hair again and she was appalled at how bad my hair looked especially after I showed her a photo taken the week before the cut. I also needed to pay again which is unfair. The saddest part is Jodie cut it so short there was no way to fix it without going shorter. I do not wear my hair this short and was extremely clear that I did not want it cut that way. Not only was a tremendous amount of length cut off but the volume is gone as she thinned it out. I have never undergone this unbelievable of a situation. After going to 220 salon, my hair look terrible. No other way to describe it. The color was uneven throughout the head, the layers were uneven and they were cut up into the hair. The style was not flattering at all. I only wanted a good cut and darker hair without a lot of length cut off. I was not asking for anything difficult. I certainly did not think I would be harmed in the process. Wihout an explaination of what happened, an attempt to correct it or even a call back there is no way that I would tell anyone to go there.

I've been a customer at 220 salon for years now. I must say that I have never had such consistantly great haircuts, street stopping compliments and all around wonderful experiences EVERY time I have my hair done . I have had my hair cut, colored, or styled by almost every person that works at 220 so what I am telling you is that you would be CRAZY not to go and experience any hair treatment, cut or color for yourself! I have been living in Orange County and Los Angeles over the last two years and still cannot find anywhere or anyone who is as good as 220. I fly to Portland just to have my haircut at 220!!!

I've now had several cuts at 220 Salon with Jodie and had a terrific experience start to finish. My hair is a tricky cut and the stylist I'd been going to for years left.......inevitably, a new stylist means months of "training" before they understand what I like. Not with Jodie - she's honestly the first stylist I've ever tried who gave me a terrific cut the very first time. And who I trusted completely. That, and the entire salon has a great feel - not fussy and pretentious (or trying to be pretentious in order to be hip) - just funky, relaxed and comfortable.

It's not for everyone - some people want a more corporate environment and approach. But the quality of the people there and the kind of service and ability they bring is unparalleled. I highly recommend it.

The salon has changed in the past year. I believe the press has caused an attitude within the workers. They are careless, sloppy and arrogant about work that has gone downhill. The staff has become rude and petty talking about others while they are doing your hair. I could care less about other people in Portland. You do not know if anyone in the salon knows them. As big as we are, Portland is a tight knit community. Shameful you would talk about people whose hair you messed up, how upset they were and you have the nerve to be laughing about it. That person has to live with that haircut and has a right to be upset. Really, has a little bit of notoriety has gone to your heads ? It should make you strive to be better not inspire you to become lazy, less talented and snobbish. I won't be coming back nor would I tell anyone else to.

The first time I went to the Studio 220 was a good experience and every visit ever since became more and more a disaster. The first hair dresser kept pumping up the price by 5 dollars every time I visited. By the time of my third visit I paid 35 bucks for a 20 minute hair cut. That makes it over 70 bucks for one hour! I guess doctor?s charge that much for their time! I have easy hair and it is not too long. The girl also told me that a 5er tip is not enough. Daft!
However, after a while I gave it another try. I decided on another hair dresser at 220. The result was not shocking but not flattering either. Not very well taken care I would say.

Pros: friendly girls

Cons: overpriced

.

In a word. talentless. I excitedly set an appointment with Jodie for a new 'do. That excitement rapidly turned to dissapointment. I had a lot of hair to work with and could have received a great cut from a talented professional. I found none of that in Jodie. My hair has never looked this bad. When you go to get a haircut, you hope for a great cut, you are happy with a good cut, you expect at a minimum a decent cut that will get you through. My cut does not even rank at decent. I received a plain cut which is unsightly. There are several pieces that just hang there. Several parts are layered so unevenly it looks like a novice performed the cut. The real burn is so much of my hair was removed that it will be months before I can try again. Simply put. I walked in with my great, healthy hair that never, never gave me problems and now have to battle with it every day. No amount of time, effort or products can tame this mane. Sadly, sadly inefficient.

It is a few months since I went to 220 salon and my hair is still in terrible shape. I saw Jodie and she demolished my hair. I had long hair and I was very clear that I wanted only 4 inches cut off. She cut it to my shoulders for no apparent reason and then sheared through the whole head with a razor. I have been suffering with this for months. Even a poor haircut should start to look better in a few months, mine does not. There are areas that were razored to inches from my scalp which now either stick straight out from my head. In other areas, they render the hair incapable of keeping any sense of style because they break through and cause hair to have a severe wave or colic look. If someone only does a good job on certain clients, new clients should be wary. I now have to go out and try to find someone new to trim my hair and have no idea who to trust. I have read other reviews which help me realize I am not the only one whose hair she has ruined. Whatever the reasons a stylist would not do their best all the time is questionable. I would not risk it. Anyone who believes its just hair and its no big deal has never been treated this poorly. It is one of the first things everyone sees so if it is awful, there is no way to hide it. The difference in my hair was shocking and obvious and so bad people felt uncomfortable mentioning it to me because they had nothing good to say. No exaggeration, it will be a year minimum before my hair is anywhere near its healthy normal self. If you are not looking to be extremely altered without your consent, I really urge to go somewhere else.

Just one visit to this salon has changed my hair and not for the better. I am sorry I ever came because what I will need to deal with for a while is a very poor cut and style. I have no idea what the vision was but the results are quite bad. We looked at photos and discussed what the final style would be. What happened to my hair nothing close to it. Several layers were cut into my hair, several inches were cut off, several strips of hair on the back of my head were layered upwards and created a look of hair that does not blend with the rest of the head. There is no rhyme or reason to this cut and the only way to explain it is either the person lacked skill or they did it on purpose. I caution anyone from coming here. Fixing this cut and growing it out will take a very long time. Nobody should encounter this situation. It is avoidable by seeing someone with real skill instead of someone who thinks they are good but really aren't.

Placing your hair in someone else's hands is an act of faith. You hope the person will bring you to a better version of yourself by looking at what you have, listeneng to your needs and using their skills to create a great look. At 220 you will not receive that care. Jodie took what I had and wrecked it. My hair is no longer healthy looking because it is frizzy now. Both the length and volume have been severely reduced. The color is in shades. In summary it looks like it needs a new cut and color. Restoring it to its former condition seems impossible. Definiely not a master at her craft.

The cut I received was in a word horrendous. My hair is in a state of total disarray. I have heard the most devastating comments from people. I have always has nice hair which people, even strangers, have commented on. This is a travesty. It is a foot shorter than it was and severly thinned out. It makes me look less attractive. It is the wrong style for the shape of my face. Recovering from this will be difficult. I think you should find another salon.

I am happy to have found this salon with such amazing hairstylists and great music. The space is amazing both in look and feel.

I had my color fixed by Jodie and my cut by Nicola and they where both the BEST EVER . I am so happy with my hair!

Cons: parking (if you go in the evenings) otherwise not bad

One of the stories heard about a visit to the salon entails someone with great hair arriving for a touch up and trim and the finished product is a catastrophe seemingly done with intent. Must be an exaggeration, possibly an urban legend. 220 salon made a believer out of me. Referring to my hair as unrecognizable is an understatement. The "cut " left my hair in a shambles. Far too much was removed by cutting with scissors and a method using a straight razor which reduced the hair to a stringy, floppy mess. Where once there was shine and bounce, now there is dullness and matte. How did that happen ? It used to be a chic, fun style. Now it droops and looks shapeless. It almost seems purposeful but why would somebody do this to an innocent customer who is paying you ? This visit reflects an inept staff, in particular, Jodie who is the salon owner and the cause of this calamity.

Whenever I've been to a salon and received a haircut I didn't like, I simply didn't make another appointment with that hair stylist. It would never occur to me to go on line and trash that person and their business on the basis of my one haircut. That would be unfair and purely malicious. Unfortunately, any review site on the internet is susceptible to having multiple fake accounts, spammers, trolls, etc. And apparently receiving a favorable review in a widely-circulated urban magazine opens one up to attracting certain individuals who have no interest in anything but bashing the recipient of the praise. There are always going to be a few bad apples in the bunch. I say ignore them and trust all the great reviews written about 220 Salon that ARE legitimate, by clients who have been perpetual clients through the years; reviews in which Jodie and 220 Salon receive commendation and praise that is totally genuine and which they rightfully deserve. I've been a long-time client of 220 Salon (since 2001) and know 220 Salon well and the type of work they do. 220 Salon is dear to my heart and Jodie and everybody at 220 Salon is good as gold.

Pros: My haircuts and hair color are perfect each time. It's also the people and the place that make it special. Casual, romantic & elegant ambience.

Cons: None.

Having read several of the reviews before I post this, I can only speak to my experience. I am not pleased with the service I received. I do not expect miracles but I do look for guidance. Having no time to fuss with my hair, I have always asked for and been given a solid cut which I can style with ease. I no longer have that luxury and it frustrates me every morning. I will not refer people to this salon because my life and routine is more difficult since I went. The cut does not flatter me and the color washes me out. These are the things I look for in a good salon. This salon dissapoints.

All my hair is gone ! I specifically asked for mild changes and I don't recognize myself. It is a bad dream which I am not waking up from. My favorite person retired and I went here due to the write up in a magazine which I no longer trust. How depressing to pay for the ruining of your hair. I do not think it would be wise to patronize this place. Find someone from a source that can be trusted.
