Disappointing
The luncheon my company hosted was passed off to an event planner who admitted that she had never worked on a lunch time event before. The service was slow, and the planner was not very helpful, let alone friendly or knowledgeable.

Bad experience for this Bride
MUST I EVEN GIVE THEM ONE STAR?
I would have rather served cold finger sandwiches at my wedding than dealt with Georgia. She didn't have time for us (brides are one time customers). She never sat down and talked to me about my needs and wishes. She tried to change prices on me (double the set up) just 2 weeks before the wedding.
I stopped talking to her and used the hotel as a middle man.
We NEVER received a contract. The "Creamy" chicken marsala was NOT. It was dark sauce.
She was rude and didn't care about us. She was late.
The food wasn't all that, and for the wad of money I dropped that night, it should have been much better!

Very Professional
Called on them at the last minute, food was excellent,
service first rate. Would hire them again.
On arrival they were particularly organized in the way
they off loaded and set up. They were quiet and kept
out of the way of our business operations.
When they left it was organized as well. The staff were
personable and ready with answers as to what was in
the dishes prepared. They were friendly and obviously
knew their jobs.

Out of Date Style, Bad Food, Poor Value
I can't believe these reviews! Are they real? How come I see the same exact review on other website? Who really wrote them?
Why do people pay a caterer for food that they can get at Safeway? I mean really, veggie platters and meat trays? Aren't these people supposed to be professional chefs? I mean, the cost for the food, they should be.
This company should have gone out of style with the 70's food they prepare!

Took Advice Here - Hired Rafati's
They did a great job for me. I needed a last minute quote for our shareholders reception following the annual meeting because "someone" forgot to get it scheduled. I called only two caterers because I was so short of time and BUSY. Rafati's was the only one who called me back.
Because it was such a hurry up order, I had decided that I couldn't afford to be too picky but was completely blown away by their performance. I received a comprehensive proposal within two hours, they modified it to fit my budget exactly and the order was in. So easy I couldn't believe it.
They arrived early, set a beautiful table, and the food was so yummy looking and smelling. I had lots of compliments from our guests on how great the event was and several notes days later. Rafati's was very professional, they saved me time, my boss was happy and the food was great.
This site really helped me out! :)

Excellent Service Provider
Contracted with this Portland caterer for a month of dinners provided to
my regional training center. They provided 20 completely different menus and were very consistent in these areas: on time, sufficient quantity, the right equipment, the right look. All that M-F for four weeks and delicious food too!
I would highly recommend them to any company wanting to achieve their training goals at a mid level + budget. Our trainees are mid to upper management candidates who want good tasting and healthy choices. After the first week of checking up on Rafati's work each day I left them for the rest of the time confident they knew and executed precisely my objectives.
I will use them now every time I need the right caterer.

Three Out Of Three Events Top Notch
I have arranged several business meals catered through Rafati's.
I can say I have top confidence in them. They will arrive right on time,
the food is always delicious and hot - freshly cooked and flavorful.
This is important to me because the arrangements are for medical
personnel who want something that tastes good but is healthy.
Rafati's advertises in Edible Portland, which is where I first heard of
them and why I called them for information.
From the first dinner through the third - raves from my clients. I won't
be looking for anyone else to provide my catering. My reputation is
important to me - they make me look like a genius.

Dream come true...
I was married at the Tiffany Center in May and loved the food, the room, all the staff (Thank you, Jessica and Georgia!) and I had a magical and worry-free day. I did appreciate that time but I came to appreicate it much more when attending a friend's wedding in August at another location. I was singing Jessica's praises all day!
Where to begin... the florist dropped off the flowers (a non-matching combination, by the way) in a box that was left in the sun before the photos started. No one mentioned there were boutonneires for the little attendants underneath so those were squished at the bottom of the box. The "planner" didn't show up at the ceremony site until the wedding was supposed to have started already (oh yes, it was 40 minutes late getting started) because she was getting the reception together (they didn't even have a plated dinner so I have no idea what she was organizing that she had to be there herself for; she had two assistants) and the caterer at the reception neglected to bring those dishes that can be heated from underneath. As a result, even being the first in line (wedding party), I had cold chicken! Besides that, the planner kept coming and asking the bride questions throughout the reception ("Should we cut the cake now?", "Is it time for toasts?"). I couldn't believe how unorganized it was!
When I was at the Tiffany Center, Jessica handled everything. I knew it was time to cut the cake because the DJ magically announced it and everything else fell together without the slightest worry or concern on my day. I found out after the wedding that our cake supplier had to remake the cake the day of the wedding because their truck broke down and it melted and I had no idea at all the day of the wedding!
It just goes to show that if you have great planners and caterers on your side and a beautiful venue, the day can be the effortless dream it is suppossed to be and Jessica, Georgia and the Rafati's staff made that dream a reality.
Pros: The Food!!!, experienced planners with personal help, beautiful setting
Cons: Only getting married once? :)

Best Experience all the Way!
My husband and I worked in the Restaurant and Hospitality business all our lives and appreciate the good work Rafati's Catering are doing each time.
We have been at the Tiffany Center (Rafati's Catering) on many occasions (2 weddings, Christmas, Birthdays and Business functons). Each time we were impressed and happy with the quality of fine food and professional service. The beautiful ballrooms were very tastefully decorated and the table settings were elegant. We highly recommend Rafati's Catering as first choice for any function.
We only had the best experience with Rafati's Catering and their staff.
The food and Service is worth every penny!
Pros: tasty food, good service, great ballrooms
Cons: none

For a Wedding like in the Movies
Georgia Rafati and her daughter Jessica helped my son; Christopher Nelson and new daughter in law; Mandi fashion a wedding at the Tiffany Center that was the kind that brides dream about and movies are made of. As the benefactor of this wedding, the betrothed couple included me in much of the planning, which was fun. We used the Tiffany Center, and we had the ceremony and the reception in the Crystal Room. The room was divided for the ceremony, and the stage was used for their vows. After the ceremony was over, the gathered friends and family exited out into the foyer for the reception line, and then re-entered the Crystal Room from another door for the cocktail hour and appetizers. The dividing wall was pulled back and the tables moved and chairs set up and head table, and we had a dance floor. All of this was done seamlessly, with both Georgia and Jessica in attendance. They butlered appetizers during the cocktail hour, the father of the groom sabered a bottle of champagne, we had a special 9 liter bottle of cabernet that they decanted and served throughout the evening, we had guests from Germany that required a piano for them to perform during the reception, and there were muscians to co-ordinate during the ceremony and reception, and a disc jockey for the dancing. The food was delicious, their presentation at our dinner and appetizer buffets was elegant. I had guests telling me that this was truly the first time that they had ever been to a wedding that was just like in the movies! People did not leave early. The dance floor was always full. I can not imagine a more perfect memory for my sons wedding, which is bittersweet, because I have one more bachelor son that has yet to marry, and I worry that when he does, his wedding can only pale to the memory I have of the Rafati wedding at the Tiffany Center. The food by Reza Rafati was to die for, consider yourself lucky if you get booked with them. You can call me; Patsy Nelson @ 503-524-3902 anytime.
Pros: Ambience, Service, Quality of Food, Linens, Chair Covers, Presentation, Professionalism
Cons: Not one thing

The Best
We had a beautiful reception catered by Rafati's at Tiffany Center. We rented the Crystal room, which is such an elegant ballroom. Our experience from the time we booked our venue was nothing but friendly and professional.
At one point we were invited to join 17 other couples for a tasting of our menu selections. It was really a nice party and we were able to discuss so many things with other brides and grooms. The food was very good and I have to say it gave us a taste of what we could expect. I know the others really liked that experience too.
We have had nothing but compliments from our family and friends on how good the food was, how pretty everything looked and how smoothly run it was. As the bride, I really enjoyed myself and am happy to share
our experience. These people know what they are doing and it shows.
Pros: Knowledgeable, great food, friendly and helpful

One hurt Brides thoughts
If i could go back to a few months before my wedding, i would not have had my wedding reception at a place that required me to use Rafati's Catering. I would have rather served cold finger sandwiches than deal with Georgia again.
Georgia was reluctant to meet with us, it seemed she didn't have time. She had other clients and could therefore not set a side time for us. Once she finally did set aside time, she was late. When she got there she sat down and just said "So what questions did you have?" I expected her to sit down and go over all of the aspects of the day and find out what kind of a wedding reception i wanted and what my budget was. She was also late to our tasting.
Two weeks before the big day, she emailed to tell me that one of the set up charges would be double what I was told previously. When i wrote back and told her that i could not fit that change into my budget, she said "it wasn't her fault the price changed" blamming it on the hotel. I spoke to the hotel and they adjusted the price back to the original price.
I finally stopped talking to her after her attempt to raise prices on me. I then worked directly with the hotel. I NEVER received a signed contract. As a bride this scared me. She could just not show up and i would be stuck, or change the price again!
The "creamy" chicken marsala, was served as regular dark marsala sauce even though I continuously pointed out that I needed to be.
Careful with the corking fee if you supply your own wine...they will charge you for all you bring, not what they actually cork.
To top of the evening, one of their employees stole my dj's iPod. But of course THEY aren't responsible for that.
I was never treated with respect, I was just an annoying bride (a one time customer).
The food wasn't any better than a regular family restuarant. But the prices were plenty high (esp. with the 20% service fee on EVERYTHING).
PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT THIS COMPANY!
Pros: The did show up with the food
Cons: GEORGIA!! Prices.
