Obviously this is a soup place, they usually have 2 fresh choices of soup daily. But they also offer sandwiches, wraps, hummus and more. It is small, but they do offer seating across the hall. Very busy at lunch, so plan on coming a little early or take a late lunch.

My partner and I spent a four day roadtrip perpetually disappointed in the quality of food, service or both we received at a number of restaurants. We were lucky to find the Soup Cellar, aka "Filipino American." The name might be confusing but the food was absolutely clear. The salad bar had freshness and diversity of options down to an art. There wasn't a wilty lettuce to be found among the large variety of offerings. And the soups were excellent, the kind I wish my mother could make. The pumpkin bisque was hearty and filling, and the turkey potpie cured both my partner and I of our restaurant malaise. If I lived in Salem, I would be here ALL the time.

This shop specializes in the obvious - soup. Their home made soups are rich with flavor. Their salads and sandwhiches are also worth several stars. The atmosphere is quaint and friendly and diners have the option to sit accross the hall from the actual shop in a very nice dinig room. Come early it's always very busy at lunch.

The soup cellar is a great place to eat lunch. It is located on the bottom floor of the reed opera house mall in downtown salem. They encourage you to sample the dishes before ordering. They always have 2 fresh, homemade soups everyday and one is usually vegan. They offer wraps, sandwhiches, hummus, and more. They are a no lunch meat establishment so if the special is turkey it usually means a turkey breast was smoked by the owner and that is what they are using. They have lamb and salmon on a regular basis also. The soups are delicious and are my favorite thing. Very affordable and yummy!!!

PROS: Great selection of both regular menu items and vegan, yummy, affordable
CONS:
