Montavilla Sewing Center is fantastic you can always find what your looking for. The staff is so helpful. They have selection after selection of fabrics, patterns, supplies, crafts, and hard to find items. The prices are great and watch for sales. If your needing a part for your machine they are willing to find it for you. They also have sewing classes if you want to learn.
I was looking for a nice sewing equipment shop. I came here because i was looking for a special tool used to create 'rips' on jeans. After browsingt throgh about three or four stores that also specialized in sewing, i found no luck. This store is the only store in Portland that sell this tool. I was so glad that i can end my search. I linering around the store for a while and I realize that they sell the best and the most sewing supply. They also sell vaccum bag for about half the price at Fred Meyers. I didn't expect to buy vaccum bag here. This store truly a diamond in the rough.
IF you can dream it, Fabric Depot has it. Thousands of fabrics, patterns, and notions. This store has incredible sales, usually 30-40% off regular prices! They have great service even though they can be very busy on the 40% off days. Get on their mailing list so you'll know when the sweet deals are! Plenty of parking!
Not only does this store have a great selection of fabric, but the staff is wonderful! The staff members were very willing to help me choose fabric to make my daughter's Christmas dress and gave great suggestions to make the dress even better. We received 30% off our fabric and ribbon which made the dress less expensive than buying one in the store. If you have a sewing or craft project to do, check out this place to find everything you need.
PROS: Wonderful selection of items, knowledgable staff

If you need it, they have it...and then some! A huge selection of fabric and notions. From tapestry to cotton to fur..they have it all.
The prices are spendy to reasonable.
Inside the store they also have a Montavilla Sewing Machine store. They have fabulous machines and are experts in their field.
If you are a fabric addict...this is my ..err..YOUR place!
PROS: Great selection and quality
CONS: none
This is an absolute warehouse of fabric. There is every kind of fabric, sewing and crafts that you can imagine. Keep an eye out for the store's sales in The Oregonian - ususally 30% off, or sign up to get on the mailing list for discounts.
PROS: Largest selection of Fabric
CONS:
I LOVE this place. You can't beat the selection. Prices are average to good, but if you want it, you're sure to find it here. Huge store with very nice brands and great deals on patterns. They run a 30% off sale very often. Avoid shopping on the first day of sales or at 40% off sales, you will be bombarded with crowds of people.
My mom like to sew and she usually go to this stores to buy most of her sewing supplies. I've come a few times with her and i must say, even though i'm not into sewing this store is really great. The prices here are very affordable. They have so much selection of sewing supplies and sewing materials like fabrics. Not just sewing, they also sell vinyl cover. I've went there because i needed to buy some vinyl to cover my seat cushion and three meters square of the vinyl only cost $6! Is that great or what? there are also sewing classes open in there if you want to learn sewing.
PROS: nice service
CONS:
