I have called Chameleon spa a couple of times to make an appointment but they are always to busy. I live a couple blocks away and have wanted to go here regularly but have never been able to make an appointment to even see if I would enjoy

I keep going back for the relaxation facial with Tracy at Chameleon Salon. It is so relaxing that I feel like going to sleep, but I don't want to because I don't want to miss any of it! I recently tried the non-surgical facelift and that

Very disappointing experience. Was excited to try out the deep cleansing facial during their "happy hour." The place was pretty much deserted and I could see why. It was filthy and the room cramped. There was even a dead fly in the sheer

I was making a major and irreversible change to my hair-bangs. Jade was awesome in making this transition possible, fun, and, most importantly, cute! As long as I live in this town, this will be my salon.

Chameleon Salon is a hidden treasure in N. Portland. They use top of the line products, including Paul Mitchell Color and OPI nail products. They even have Vegan nail polish! Ever since I've been going to Madelyn I've been getting compliments on my hair color. The prices are in line with other salons of this caliber, however, they have "happy hour" prices between noon and 4 pm, send out emails for last minute deals (20% off), have really great referral programs and even have a punch card where you can earn a free pedicure or haircut after a certain number of visits. While the salon very charming, the atmosphere is not snooty. Love this little N Portland Gem.

Hello everyone! This is a belated ??thank you? to the owner and operators of Chameleon Salon NW, specifically Liana.

I really wanted to do something I had never done before with my hair. I had been putting off a haircut for about 9 or 10 months and was planning to do something new just before we left for our first vacation in many years. I also knew I was tired of the brown rapidly turning gray color ? but I was very nervous about the proficiency of the colorist. After doing some research and reading the great reviews about Chameleon on line, I decided it was where I should go.

As I mentioned above, I was VERY nervous about everything. However, Liana made me feel comfortable immediately, warm, welcoming and professional. She really listened to her client. As she worked, I could tell she knew what she was doing and my confidence grew??both in her and in my choice of Chameleon--as she worked on my hair. I now have wonderful red (!) hair with blond highlight and a great cut. I??m really enjoying my new look.

I??m looking for reasons to visit your salon again ASAP and will be buying Spa Finders gift cards for some family members with a note to try out Chameleon.

This salon is the greatest! Extremely professional and nice environment. Giselle and Madelyn are both amazing; I constantly get comments regarding how great my hair looks! :) Great products as well; my hair actually feels healthier after I get my highlights done..(if that's even possible!) If you haven't been there, you should go...it's definitely worth your time and money.

I've been going to Chameleon for the past year, and people frequently comment on how great my hair looks. I usually work with the Madelyn, and she is always on time, gives me her full attention, and works with me to give me a great cut and color. I can't recommend her salon highly enough.

I'm what you would call a hair-care-slacker. Meaning: I like to get my hair cut very infrequently and wait until it is almost beyond saving before I get into a salon. That being said, when I do get in, I want a really great hair cut that is not only going to be super cute, but that is able to grow out and STAY looking great for months and months. Every time I've gone to Chameleon I have not only gotten an amazing hair cut, but NO GUILT for neglecting my hair. I've been taught the easy tricks for the lazy hair-care girl, and have enjoyed great conversation, fun music, complementary wine if I wanted, and top notch service.

I can't get over how cute all the refurbished vanity stations are, as well as the little sofa and chair in the waiting area. If you're looking for the results of a super fancy over-priced salon, without the over-price, or the lack of character, this is a gem worth trying out. The staff is really helpful in helping to match you with the best stylist for your hair type and needs so make sure you ask and describe what you're looking for and you may find a stylist to keep for life. I know I have.

My friend and I both went in the same day and got the same package done, I was charged more for my visit than she was, when I realized it, I told the manager, she said she cannot do anything about it. It was the most stupid conversation I have ever had, how can you charge 2 clients different prices for doing the exact same thing and think thats okay?? INSANE! Never will i go back.

I absolutely love this salon! It's small and charming. The prices are excellent, the products are top notch, and the people are warm, attentive, positive, and great at what they do.

I went in yesterday afternoon for a deep cleanse facial and a hair glaze. My gal was Jade and she was Tops! She brought me a glass of red wine, was interesting to talk with, and the neck/shoulder massage during the facial was the best I've had yet.

The deep cleanse facial was comprised of four steps, took an hour, and my skin (which is usually overly sensitive) feels the best it's been since I was a girl.

The prices! I can't emphasize enough the wonderful value! With all sorts of promotions, packages, programs, and last minute deals - I'm thoroughly thrilled with this place. Checking around for the same services and quality, I found that they are an average 25% savings over other Portland Metro salons.

Highly recommended.

I love this place! I've only been twice. I had my hair cut in September before I moved and as June was coming to an end I was in desperate need of a haircut. I braved up and look up local salons. Chameleon was closest to my house, and affordable. They have a great website and I used the photos to get an idea of each stylists, uh, style. I decided to schedule an appointment with Madelyn. I got too antsy and made ANOTHER appointment for a week before. I went in and she chopped off all my hair. They schedule you for an hour so you get a wash and lots of time.

I liked my hair but it wasn't perfect, I wrote to the salon and right away (after hours even) Madelyn emailed me back and told me I could make an appointment. She guarantees her cuts so my 2nd appointment was free. Even though it was really me not really describing what I wanted. So I went in again and she chopped off even more bits and pieces of hair. My hair went from the longest it's been in a while to the shortest it's been in years. Pretty dramatic! But I LOVE it! It's perfect! I can blow-dry it straight and sleek or I can let it air dry for some waves. I've never been able to let my hair air dry and look normal.

The salon it's self is cool and chic without being too much. It's got lots of nice natural light and all the girls there make you feel really welcome! Both times I went in I waited for a few minutes and was able to just hop into conversation and not feel like I was intruding.

The only downsize is parking is kinda weird, there's not really a lot anywhere, maybe it's just where I'm from, but street parking is always a little off to me. But because it's small they don't seem to have a ton of people in there and I've had no trouble finding a parking spot.

If you can get there you should! All the girls are great and helpful. And it's not insanely pricey, they usual 35 bucks a hair cut type thing. It is great, give it a try, even if you don't know who best fits you just stop bye and chat, they're the best!

Excellent style without sacrificing a comfortable environment. It's important to me to not be talked down to as a customer and to feel like I'm among nice people - not just those out to make a few bucks chopping hair. The ladies at Chameleon Salon have been above and beyond wonderful, even fixing the mistake of a less-than-super stylist. Affordable, too! I'm going back again... and again and again.

I have been to this salon 3 times in recent months & was very unhappy when I was charged more than twice what I had paid here before for a hair-cut. The first 2 times were satisfactory and I didn't request a price list as the charges had been reasonable before. I have tried to get in contact with the owner but unable to reach her. I am told that she left early as she was ill - then several days later she is still unavailable.

Business Response:

There was a Miscomunication Beth, Madelyn was sick for over a week, however, we spoke on the phone with you together and cleared up this matter. You purchased a teeth whitening pen for $25 which made your total $56.50. You actually paid less than usual for your hair cut ($31.50 versus $35 normally) because you complained about the price. However, you thought the teeth whitening pen was only $1 which is where the problem came from. The Teeth Whitening pens have a sign that say $25 so I'm not sure why you thought they were a $1 and the person checking you out didn't understand you thought they were $1 so I understand why you feel you were rung up for double the price. Since you have already used the pen, we have agreed by phone to credit you the $25 for the teeth whitening pen towards your next visit. Let us know if there is anything else we can do for you. We appreciate your business. Shannen, co-owner.

My curly hair makes me particularly sensitive to a new stylist. I'm always dreading that the person has no idea what they're doing and will cut too much of my hair off not realizing it's going to shrink up when dry. Giselle listened to my concerns and worked with me to combine two styles I had brought in. She also took into consideration how much time I wanted to spend fussing with my hair in the morning. I absolutely love it and have a had many compliments on my new do, I will definately be back to see her.

They've done some wonderful things to the Chameleon now that it's under new ownership. The atmosphere is very welcoming, and I love the decor. It's quite a charming place and a wonderful addition to our North Portland neighborhood. Ms. Giselle Karam did an exceptional job with my hair. I keep getting compliments for my new look!

I look forward to coming back as a regular customer. I recommend the Chameleon to other North Portlanders who are looking for a great Salon and Spa.

If you've ever been frustrated with stylists that don't seem to listen, you need to go to Chameleon Salon. I went into the salon looking for an updated style that's easy to take care of and natural looking color. The stylist really listened. She not only gave me a style that's easy to take care of, she took the time to show me how to re-create the hair style myself. And the color......its beautiful! I would also recommend the chemical conditioning treatments. It has made a huge difference in the look and feel of my hair. Talented, friendly stylists that listen...what a novel idea!

I took my 8-year-old daughter in for a cut and saw Jessica. My daughter has long, thick, straight hair, so we were looking to take some weight off, without sacrificing the length. Jessica listened to us (me) and cut in some layers in the back and around the front. I thought it was ok, but my daughter loved her new cut. The total was $20 (w/out tip) and included a shampoo with the cut. Not sure if we'll go back, but they were very friendly and don't necessarily require appointments (which is always a plus).

I've been Brett's customer for several years and have followed him since he left Ziva several years ago. He is truly a very professional and talented stylist. I have a lot of thick hair that only Brett knows how to cut and color. He listens to your needs and does your hair just the way you want it. I'm so glad I found Brett again!!

Brett Packer has been cutting my hair over the past year. He has the amazing talent for-
LISTENING: (what I did or did not like about past haircuts),
UNDERSTANDING: (how much time I want to spend on my hair each day),
CREATING: (I get non-stop compliments on how great my hair looks).

I not only do get those compliments, but have a cut that looks great after one week or four!

I am so glad that Brett has re-located to Chameleon, a cozy salon that is so easy to get to. No parking and traffic issues here!

Brett Packer is now at Chameleon Salon in the Arbor Lodge neighborhood. I am so glad - he has cut my hair several times over the past year - and it is really great that he is now in a salon that is in my neighborhood AND is really easy to reach. Chameleon is so much more my kind of salon, and I was lucky to find Brett just in time ... I desperately need to get my hair cut again.

Brett has the ability to do a great cut that is easy to maintain myself! He listens to what I want, and how much time and effort I want to invest in my daily haircare. I am constantly complimented on how great my hair looks. (makes me wonder how it looked before!)

When you find someone that can do hair magic you don't want to lose them!

Pros: Friendly, Knowledgeable, Parking, Atmosphere,

.

Chameleon Salon is a wonderful!! I was in need of something new,but wasn't sure what I wanted-they were very good to listen, very patient-wonderful color skills! My color looks incredibly natural, not at all brassy- which has been my experience in the past.
I will surely be back!!
