I found this hotel on expedia.com for a really great price. The price on expedia also gave us an upgrade to the next room that was suppose to be done at the time of checkin. However I am allergic to down and needed my room to be ready for me when I got there. So I called ahead of time and not only was my room ready but they had already upgraded me. The service was great, and the food was awesome!

I'm not terribly familiar with the Avalon as a hotel but more as a spa, and it is that aspect of it I recommend. Located on the waterfront, it's mainly a hotel, yes, but also a restaurant and most notably, from my perspective, a spa and fitness club. They have close to three dozen spa services available in various reasonable packages, along with fitness club services and memberships.

This is both a luxurious and a modern hotel. The first time I came here I stayed in a non-river view room, but the second time I stayed in a river view room. The river view room was much nicer (or so I thought) because it had a better bathroom and a balcony, not to mention a GREAT view.

This is a nice four star hotel in Portland with pretty cheap rates. I didn't really like the air conditioning in our room though because it was loud. We got a room with a river view, and it was pretty nice. Our room and bathroom were spacious. The staff was pretty helpful and polite.

First of all... they are going in and deleting bad reviews, so who knows how long this will be up.
I bought a gift card for $405, the spa changed management, and now they will no longer honor it. The GM has a "not my problem" attitude, and I'll be making sure to tell everyone I come across never to use their services.
