Even if you aren't in the Christmas spirit you will be before you leave this store. They have a great selection of Teddy Bears and Dolls along with Christmas decorations of all kinds. It is small but a fun place to get in the Christmas spirit.

I've driven by this store a few times and thought, "Well, they're paying the rent, so somebody must be shopping there. My own needs are clearly not serviced by such a store." Or are they??

I'll soon be attending my Godson's baptism and as a gift my wife suggested a hand made wooden Noah's ark mobile or play set of some kind. I called a couple of high-end toy stores around town and was getting frustrated when ding!! Christmas at the Zoo!! It's Christmas, so it's got Christian stuff, and it's at the Zoo, so well, it's got Christian animal stuff. Perfect.

I called the store and eagerly explained my needs, to which the woman curtly replied, "Um, no we don't really have anything for children." I was looking at the website, so I tried, "Not even the stuffed animals?" To which she condescended, "Our stuffed animals are realistic." She did admit that they have some teddy bears, but seemed to imply that these are NOT the sorts of bears to be played with by some untidy baby.

So back to the Noah's ark thing, I finally asked if they have any Christian items at all. "Nope." I honestly did not want to give in to cynicism and hate this store without experiencing it in any way. What's the point in hating a store? Nor was I bent on writing a scathing Citysearch review without considering the people who might actually find something to buy here. But when someone is that snooty on the phone without even knowing that I'm not an equally snooty "realistic" stuffed animal connoisseur? I'll find a less ridiculous store on NW 23rd to treat me like dirt.

Pros: Teddy bears

Cons: Customer service

It's late summer and the temperature outside is 100 degrees. We needed some shopping respite and ducking into this wonderful shop transported us the spirit of the winter and Christmas. Gloriously decorated trees offer all sorts of ornaments to choose from. Also a great selection of nutcrackers. And everyone, young and old will get a thrill from all the stuffed animals of ALL sizes (some bigger than us!). Make sure every child gets to visit Christmas at the Zoo!

PROS: lots and lots of christmas ornaments

We love to go to the zoo train. The last time though, the lines were very long and it was freezing cold. Lots of lighted animal figures and mostly people are friendly and happy. Also, dressed up animals to smile and wave at the kids. The Max is very handy to getting to the zoo and saves on parking.

I've never actually bought anything here, but my experience at this store is one of the things that made me want to move to Portland. On a trip up from California, we stopped in here shortly before heading back to the airport. I somehow managed to trip in such a way that I didn't just fall forward, but managed to fly halfway around one of the Christmas trees. I don't know how many of their delicate glass ornaments I took out in the process, but as I stood up I had visions of one salesperson locking the door while another got the Louisville Slugger from under the counter. Nothing could have been further from the truth. They were only concerned that I was okay. I was genuinely touched by how forgiving they were, and that was the cherry on top of a delightful trip that convinced us to make our home here.
