It seems like the norm these days is poor service- not so at LATHAMS LUGGAGE. The good service I received there was greatly apreciated as was the nice store and great merchandise.. Kudos!

After having purchased multiple pieces of high end luggage here, I would NOT recommend purchasing luggage from Latham's. Ownership is less than cordial or helpful, follow up is non-existent, and the Owners attitude is TERRIBLE! STAY AWAY!

I travel very often and needed a good quality 22" suitcase. I settled on Latham's own brand largely due to the excellent wheels, good construction, and assurance of satisfaction. I've never been disappointed, always been treated with respect, and the one problem I had with the bag was taken care of at no cost and with apology. I will go back if and when this bag ever wears out - it's traveled over 150,000 miles and uncounted baggage handlers yet it still looks good!

In August or September of 2007 I purchased a leather messenger-style bag at Lathams. At the time of purchase I explained what the bag would be used forcarrying a laptop and students papers. I purchased a bag, recommended to me by Kirk Latham, that supposedly was made with high quality leather and would last twenty years. It cost around $250, to my recollection.
In October of 2008 the nylon-web strap on the bag began to disintegrate. When I brought it in to Lathams I learned that the problem was happening with other peoples bags. The strap was replaced without a problem.
Unfortunately, the bag failed in two other parts after the first problem was fixed. The main handle broke, and the leather holding the strap buckle also broke. In both cases, the leather itself failed. This is three failures in a bag that was less than three months old.
When I brought the bag into Lathams on November 30, I was told that I was overloading the bag. At the time the bag held a laptop and a few manila folders of student work, weighing 10-12 pounds.
When I insisted that the bag was defective and asked for a replacement, the person helping me grudgingly agreed to have it repaired instead. He refused to take the bag back, saying he couldnt resell the bag. The bag is defectiveof course it cant be resold!
Since leaving the bag for repair, which was supposed to take a week or two, I have regularly called in to hear various excuses about why the bag hasnt been ready.
At this point, Latham's has had the bag in for repair longer than I have since purchasing it. This is absolutely unacceptable.

I did not enjoy 'looking and buying' there. All of the stores merchandise is made in China and vastly overpriced. The owner is a really specially kind of jackass. I have only had the misfortune to cross his path a few times. He was very unwelcoming to me. He struck me as the kind of person who truly enjoys the sound of his own voice. While attempting to casually converse with him, he seemed to agree with himself a lot. I suggest that consumers shop for luggage apparel and other useless crap elsewhere.

I will never go in that store again. I went in today to return some merchandise, which had been purchased a little over a month ago. Since it was past the 30-day return policy, I asked for a store credit. Kirk Latham, the owner, began yelling, yes yelling, at me, saying that he hated dealing with customers like me, he can't believe I'm so cheap, why am I wasting his time, etc. This went on and on while he was issuing the credit. I thought he was going to jump over the counter and attack me. He told me to get out. I left, with the credit, but I never want to go in there again. I can't believe this person is in business.

The owner, Kirk Latham is literally psychotic. He doesn't know how to manage his business or employers. He is rude to customers and often curses behind their backs. He also is NOT good with returns. Not a good business to support. Recommend going elsewhere. He is essentially running the business his father left him to the ground.

This business does not do the repairs in house. They send the repairs out to a 3rd party. They promised I could have a zipper repaired on a bag in time for a vacation that was 2 weeks away. When I called to confirm the repair and set a time to pick the bag up, they told me they did not have the bag and the 3rd party repair person was not returning their call. He indicated they did not know when the repair would be completed and then said he was busy and hung up.
Do business with these folks at your own risk!!!

I received a nice bag as a gift when I started graduate school. After only 3 months, I brought it in because one of the buckles had broken. The bag had a one year warranty, but the manager hemmed and hawed about having to replace it. He finally did. I used it for another month and the same thing happened. I brought it back. He refused to honor the warranty, claiming that I was abusing the bag. I told him that it was ridiculous to be accused of abusing a product, when it was clear from the rest of the bag, that it wasn't. He had the audacity to call me a b#$$h. I will never shop there again.
Besides that, the prices are outrageous, compared to what you can find online.
PROS: Variety of high end products
CONS: Horrible customer service

I recently found out they have purses/bags at Lathams and I have really enjoyed looking and buying here.. They are in a great location with plenty of parking. I'm going to look here first to replace my luggage this next year, as they seem to have high quality products.
