I have been an Aloha customer for 11 years. I needed to switch my garbage cart size and called the office for help. I was very pleased with the friendly service. A smaller truck came and delivered me
anouther cart, he was a very pleasant young man. I have no complaints and would recommend Aloha Garbage.

This is the worst company I have ever delt with. They have been hounding me for 3 years for a bill that was incurred by the bank that forclosed on my house. There was no pick up or service done for the time that they are billing me for. Now that I have moved back into the monopoly they are refusing service if I don't pay the bill that shouldn't be mine in the first place.

I just got off the phone with Barb after requesting a dropbox for the weekend. My second time in three years. She was pleasant and very helpful. I've not had any bad experiences with this vendor. The one time my yard debris got missed I noticed it was the whole street. It was picked up the next day along with everyone else's. Hey, stuff happens and mistakes are made, hardly anything to get worked up about.

I recently found myself in need of a drop box after a plumbing mishap caused flooding in my basement. I assumed I would have to wait at least several days in order to secure one but was amazed when I placed a call to my garbage hauler (Aloha Garbage) and they had one in my driveway within 45 minutes after hanging up the phone. In addition, the lady I spoke to on the phone (I believe her name was Barb) was very kind and sympathetic when I explained my situation. I deal with the public and really appreciate "above and beyond the call of duty service" and that is exactly what I received.

Aloha Garbage has been very accommodating. We recently rented a drop box to clean out our shop. We followed their guidelines and received no extra charges. People who have experience problems with this company should take the time to read the guidelines. Aloha Garbage has clearly stated what is and what is not appropriate when using their services. There are no secrets.

Just a suggustion. April through October there should be 3 yard debris pick ups. Like the first Monday of month for paper and the other 3 for yard debris. You need to meet the needs of your customers.

Beware of this business. They will over charge you, double charge you and have business manners reminiscent of Tony Saprano. Someone should really check then out. When we moved from our old house 5 years ago, they billed us for dumpsters the new owners used replacing their roof and remodeling 2 months after we moved. Not only did we give then 30 days notice, but we moved our service to another local address and were still billed not only for the dumpsters but also for 3 months of their trash. They wouldn't pick our trash up (even though we were up to date) until we paid their trash bill. There needs to be another alternative or the state should step in and stop their mafioso style rule.

One the other side, the guys that pick up the trash are extremely professional and helpful. Shame they work for a bunch of losers in the office. I'm sure Karma will take care of their business one of these days since they don't.

I hate Aloha Garbage from the first week that they have to pick up my garbage. They didn't pick up everything and they have missed weeks of my pick up and when you call customer service they are so mean and rude. The last one they picked up my garbage including my garbage can, I have to call them to bring back my garbage can, how stupid of that driver to bring the whole thing. Apparently there is no proper communication between the office personnel and the driver. At one time also I forgot to mail my payment so I called the day before my pick up schedule and they said if I drop it off the night prior they will still pick up my garbage the next day, but they didn't and I called again and they said they will send the driver back. What a waste of time and effort for everyone. If only there is an option, why don't we have an option to choose, isn't this a free country...

I called the company on their next business day and they "reviewed" it after i had to move my vehicle so i could go to work the next morning. I took photos they refused to look at. I have lived in Aloha for 23 years and recently bought a new house 1 mile from the old one in Aloha and now have Aloha trash service. What a huge change from the other hualer. If I was new to recycling after speaking with them I would not bother. I do not know how they promote metro's goals. The staff is hostile and unfriendly from the minute you get on the phone. When I signed up for service, I must of heard don't, no or can not in every sentence. There is NO customer service. If there was an option to use another carrier, I would and they would be out of business!

If you live in Washington County unincorporated, you call 503-846-3663. I did speak with someone at both phone numbers and my complaint has not at least been acknowledged. Recently I had a lot of garbage due to a remodel. They worked with me to determine if a skid was needed, or if the cheaper option of simply up-sizing my garbage can for a month would work (much cheaper).

Every time I've called, they've been friendly and helpful.

It would be nice if they had an online presence for viewing account information. I use my bank's bill-pay service, and they already had Aloha Garbage as a normal bill recipient. That has worked flawlessly on my end.

My only complain is that they don't have Online Service..now a days doing payments online makes everything so, much easier, and faster. Also is easier to keep track of your bills, w/out losing your envelopes/stamps etc. ;)

I can not believe this service. The worst customer service ever, next to Verizon. I ordered service to my new location, and instead of receiving the size of container that I ordered, they gave me a smaller, older can that would barely fit the garbage we already had from moving. They did not even give us a yard debris can, nor notified my that we were on back order for one. I thought "no problem" must be a mistake, and called. They did not apologize or fix the problem. Instead, they argued with me about the size. She said to me " well it says on my computer that you have the correct size, you must be mistaken. I have been forced to do business with this company for years because of the monopoly waste disposal has in an effort to "make things easier". I'm sick of it. If you have the choice to decide on a new place that is not serviced by Aloha Garbage, feel lucky. After I was told that I don't know the difference in size, even though I have had the correct can for years, I was hung up on. Then, when I called to complain to the manager, She was short with me too, trying to defend the rudeness and ignorance of her staff!! A simple "Sorry, we will take care of it would have worked!! Who trains these people?! What happened to "the customer is always right!!" Just because I don't have the choice of firing these incompetent hustlers, shouldn't mean they can treat me however they want!! I'm taking my complaint to the city.

This is my first complaint here-I called Aloha Gargabe because I had not received my bill. When I called I was asked to hold. After being on hold for five minutes I hung up. Called back and said I was left on hold for five minutes. No apology was given. I think the people in the office are rude. They are the only garbage company in my area. They are not worthy of my business, because of the instances below. About 1 year ago, I seperated from my husband and moved out of our residence were we had lived for nearly 5 years. He moved also to another location. However the rental property mgmt, decided they were going to make us responsible for ridiculous and illigetiment charges for damages. They also included a bill we owed to the garbage company which was approx. $130.00. Obviously we hired an attorney to fight these disputes. In the meanwhile I had to open a new garbage account at my new residence. Aloha Garbage Co. was unwilling to open open a new one account for me until the old one was recified. I explained to them that we were disputed the charges. So I asked them if we could change the old bill to my husbands name. They would not do that either., not even after he contacted them to accept responsibilty. They we unwilling to cooperate or help me at all. Basically they did not care. So for 6 months I had no garbage service, until finally our case was resolved. For 6 months I had to drop my garbage at the dumpsters where my husband lived. It was degrading and embarrassing for me and my kids. I hope no one has to go through what I have.

NO, it must have been blocked or in the wrong place for our driver... or over-weight... or whatever makes it my fault AGAIN. ...

Anytime I have inquired about their policies, it seems that they are enforcing the wishes of the owner. In a College Advertising Course I took, I was taught that in business they likened the company to a fish. If the body of the fish stinks (ie: employees with bad attitudes.) then the head of the fish stinks (ie: owner/ manager with bad attitude towards customers/ employees)... or if the head of the fish stinks so does the body. How true that statement is about Aloha Garbage. ...

Its not likely to change until there is product competition. As long as the garbage service is allocated to each garbage company by area verses free enterprise, Aloha Garbage is likely to keep their smelly attitude.

BTW, I know one of the drivers, for the most part, they say the same about attitude towards the employees.

Our Problems:: Whenever they miss your can the standard response is that it was YOUR fault. You are told they probably did empty your trash but because you compact it so much it STICKS in the can. Um, right :) But they do eventually return and retrieve your garbage, which by some sort of miracle actually DOES empty out on the second attempt. Okie Dokie.

Our neighbors recently discovered that they had been getting free service for a period of time. Interestingly enough the neighbors are the ones who notified the company (because there was a problem with their service!). Now the company wants all the back fee's for garbage removal even though the neighbors hadn't known they were getting free service. They thought it was paid through a standard utility company (like a lot of areas) for water/sewer/garbage. Now they're forced to come up with extra money they didn't know they owed. Is that even legal? Company declares they need to recover their costs for trash removal, but since they hadn't known they had been giving their service away, how much extra could it possibly have cost them? According to the company they would have found out eventually ON THEIR OWN. Say it with me people, uh ... SURE.

They weren't gonna figure it out. Trust me. Bad policy for the company to back bill on something they had no hope of recovering, except the integrity of others, because the neighbors are gonna pay the bill. Good to have honest neighbors. I wouldn't pay it, and it's not honest or dishonest thing for me. It's just practical sense. I'd see what a Judge would have to say.

All-n-all, mostly good service from a beligerent customer service crew. If you pay your bill they empty your trash (most the time). but don't be looking for something to write home about. It ain't this place.

We are EXPECTED to pay the bill by a certain date. we have auto pay set up, so they GET their payment on time every time. We are paying for a service we EXPECT on time every time, but we are not getting on time every time.
If they have to credit my account, every time, they would make SURE the service They SAY they are going to supply, they WILL supply it.

I was in making a payment on my account and there was a lady yelling and cursing when she was on the phone. I heard someone say "Kim watch your mouth" and the nice lady that was assisting me apologize for her foul mouth (which she was nice and polite). What company in there right mind would have such a person represent there company and call it customer service. Where do they find these people! Wouldn't you believe this same fouled mouth person was at it again the next time I came in. Due to this person I will not be in to make my monthly payments in person I will be mailing them in since they don't believe in convience (billpay, online pay etc..)

Then there is the issue of paying your bill prior to the date of pick up, and they don't pick it up. I dropped my bill off on Friday night after they closed. Garbage pick up was Monday morning. Too bad. They won't pick up your garbage if Monday is your pick up, even though they recognized that payment was received, unless you want to pay an extra $13.00. I have been a customer for 30 years, and this place has always been poopoo. You find much of your garbage and recycling in the raod after they have come through. Cans half emptied, recyling rules change regularly. I wish Metro would take a serious look at the business practices of this place. Their service is horrible, and we are stuck with it. I hope Kim and the rest of the staff takes time to read these comments.

They did tolerate late payments for nearly a year and did not cancel me until I had not paid for about 4 months, so what are people complaining about? I finally got a paycheck and was able to reinstate service, but they didn't pick up the bags of garbage they told me to leave at the curb while waiting for my cans to be delivered. I do recall one instance in the past when my garbage was skipped for some unknown reason and they did show up to get it in reasonable time. We'll see how it goes this time. I have no idea where I'm supposed to put all that garbage while I wait this time. I checked my bank and the bill was paid and cleared 2 days before garbage day. BTW - why all the complaining about not being able to pay your bill online? I always have and always will. Just set it up and pay it and stop complaining about an inconvenience that does not exist. If your bank has billpay, just set up your garbage bill. They aren't going to refuse payment from your bank. I paid the latest bill I had and double checked the amount. I still have to wait another week for the garbage to be picked up.

I sent them a check meant for my HOA last month and I sent my HOA a check meant for Aloha Garbage. My HOA sent the check back and recognized my mistake. Aloha Garbage, on the other hand, saw the check, stamped it with their endorsement and deposited it. Then they sent me a letter stating that I did not pay last months bill and they requested payment. I paid them my normal amount and they cashed that check as well. What's more funny about this is that when I called to demand a refund, they thanked me for both payments... Supposedly my refund is in the mail, but we'll have to see about that. Oh, and watch out for Key Bank because they allow checks to be deposited that are not written to those that endorse them.

Lets all thank the government for imposing restrictions to support competition. Without their intervention we'd actually be able to choose our garbage service providers and we wouldnt be forced to stick with horrible providers such as Aloha Garbage & Recycling.
