Overcrowded to the point that it's actually a stressful ordeal to workout. Who wants that? Not me. In most if not all classes, it's so crowded, you can't even get a full range of motion so your workout is basically 1/2 of what it could be.
Outdated equipment. Dingy workout room.
It's evident that the owner(s) could give a rip about the overcrowding issues and are more focused on rolling in the dough. They continue to solicit membership and do nothing to upgrade their facility.
While they request member feedback via surveys and a comment box, they do nothing with the feedback which is poor customer service. I honestly believe the surveys and comment box are just tools to appease members. The overcrowding problem is a well known issue and most members are quite disgruntled about it. When my membership obligations expire, I plan to leave. Separate work out rooms are their stick, which is so ridiculous it's laughable (given the issues outlined above).

A good basic gym and fitness center but crowded workout areas (women's area, at least), poor air quality, and scary carpeting. On the plus side, friendly atmosphere for the most part. Also the pool area is very nice.

I have been a member of Oakway since 2006 AND I LOVE IT!! Everyday I see people of different sizes, abilities, and disabilities walk through their door. I appreciate the friendly atmosphere, the extremely talented staff, and the wide variety of classes offered. One of the classes I took was instructed by a member of the U.S. Olympic team!!!! A former weight lifting champion is on staff!! Oakway not only focuses on exercise equipment like a lot of gyms in the area, but they offer Weight Solutions which is a program designed to help individuals lose weight and modify behavior..... How many gyms in the area can boast of a swimming pool, steam room, sauna, and whirpool?

Regarding the comments from Cheryl. All fitness places have contracts.... Contracts are binding for a reason. If Oakway made an exception for one member, they would need to make exceptions for everyone who wanted out of their contract or they could be setting Oakway up for discrimination lawsuits.

Since Cheryl is unable to attend the gym because of the distance, she could continue her self improvement with a home-study course. I suggest she start with spelling.

A warning to all who consider Oakway Fitness as their choice of Health Club.....read the contract very carefully!!! In order to cancel your contract you must either become disabled, die or move 50 miles from the club!!! This contract is non-transferasble as well. We live approx 42 miles away from the club and now have the responsibility of taking care of my mother who has recently had a stroke, we have no time to drive the 84 miles round trip to the club these days. The GM/Owner will not release us from the contract!!!!! So, for the next 2 years 4mos we will have to pay our dues!!! This is a real shame and I feel the whole situiation should of been handled better. I can't tell you how many time I got "It's all in the contract"!! What ever happened to customer service??

As far as the club....very out dated equipment and segreated workout areas as well as pool, steam & jacuzzi areas that are available on an everyother day basis depending on what sex you are. Makes for a hard time scheduling a workout !

Staff looked to me to be very un-motivated!!! I have spent 25 years in the health & fitness business in another state and am quite embaressed that I made such an error in judgement. This is truning out to be a very expensive mistake.

I recently took advantage of Oakway's one week trial period. The weight/fitness areas really need to be updated. The carpeted floor is old, and not consistent with other gym's all purpose floors. Cardio equipment is dated, and needs replacement. The number of cardio machines is adequate they are just older generation. Weight machines are limited, and again older. The free weights are adequate, but some of the dumbbells are really old. Not a ton of free weight specific stands. No overhead press, incline press, etc. stands so I really had to get creative. Lower body machines/stands are limited as well. Men's fitness area is small so expanded equipment opportunies is probably limited.

The staff seem professional, and are always pleasant. Oakway may not be state of the art equipment wise, but it maintains a casual, non-threatening environment for those new to gyms. I have been a member of several gyms over the years, and this one seems more tuned to the average person, someone who just wants to workout and go home. I appreciate that environment so I can probably live with the older equipment, stuffy air quality and dated facilities for the short-term. I would hope that they look at other gyms in the area, and work to improve what they offer in the fitness areas especially.

Oakway Fitness has it all ~ cardio equipment, weights, classes (cardio, weights, yoga, dance, combination classes, cycle and more!) pool - lap and class area, snack bar, knowledgeable staff ~ what more could you ask for? There are a few things that make Oakway fitness stand out from the rest. The Cardio/Weight rooms are gender specific. This makes working out at your own pace much easier. There are also set times for each gender to use the pool with combined times as well. It makes you plan your workouts! The staff at Oakway Fitness is incredible. The personal trainers really know what they are doing and work with each individual to fit their needs, whatever that may be. The Weight Solutions program is right in the facility and stresses the healthy life, not just losing weight. It is a great place to workout.

Oakway Fitness Center is a great new facility, with much to offer to its members. The work out gyms are gender specific, which is nice (and on Sundays, genders can work out together in either gym which is nice for couples). The pool also has his/hers hours and some co-ed times. This can be frustrating when you really want to swim after your workout and its not 'your time', but if you plan things right, it's not a problem.
There are tons of classes offered and they are included in your membership fees, as is childcare which is really nice. I have never encountered an employee that was not kind and helpful at Oakway. A definite thumbs up.
