The man who came through our apartment to give us our estimate seemed very nice, seeming to fill us in on how other companies will try to take advantage of you. He walked through our entire place, entering every piece of furniture. He then went over our insurance options and left. Feeling like we were in good hands, we opted to go with mayflower. Yet, when explaining insurance options, he neglected to mention that pressed board furniture was not cover under any extended warranty, when he witnessed himself that only coffee table, kitchen island, and dresser would actually be covered since we were paying separate insurance for our TV and any items in boxes, since packed by us, were not covered as well. But, we still payed for the higher priced insurance for every pound of the entire move. And of course, our TV stand got broken. I did not see the damage until after the movers left because they had it up against the wall with our 42 in flat screen on it. I was told it was stable enough from that. When looking at it, the back leg was completely ripped off, and was balancing on one pin, that was in a partially broken hole. Luckily for them, if the TV had fallen and broke, once it is out of the moving box, even if it doesn't work immediately, they are off the hook too. Surprise Surprise! We can only get 60 cents a pound for it. My partner tried to call to talk to them about it and we have never received a return phone call. They pretty much fulfilled every sleazy moving stereo-type you hear other than stealing our stuff.
