I go to Macforce on a regular basis for support and product and have always had a great experience.
I love that the location is close in SE and that there is always parking.
It's also nice that the salespeople do not work on commission so

Seriously, I wish there was a minus option for rating here. The only thing Mac force wants is your money and they don't care how they get it. Once they have sold a product, no matter what problem(s) there may be -they will not work it

I wish there were NO stars, or negative stars! Too bad, because that's what MacForce deserve!

MacForce has "ok" pricing. It's really the same as any other Apple resller. They have a type of "membership" pricing, which is kind of a joke. You have to PAY them $25 a year to save a buck or two here and there.

The only time it pays off is if you make several hundred to several thousand dollars of merchandise. There are supposedly other perks to the membership... IF you're ever able to take advantage of them.

What they do have is HORRIBLE & DEPLORABLE communication! If they say one thing... they'll turn around and tell you something different later.

My wife got me something and made sure to mention our M2 membership to get a measly discount. She was in a rush because this was a surprise, so she trusted the sales person and didn't bother looking at the receipt until later...AFTER we opened the packaging. They didn't give us our membership discount. WHAT? Where's the discount, we asked ourselves?

I contacted the guy who sold the item to my wife and he says... your membership expired. I asked him WHY he didn't tell my wife. He said she didn't mention the membership. WHAT A BOLD FACE LIAR!

I told him, that she in fact DID mention the membership, and if that was the case - why not mention the membership had expired? They could have sold the product, and STILL kept their profits because we would have had to pay extra $ for the membership.

What made us more mad than losing the $5 bucks was that they flat out contradicted themselves, and to boot, we had no option to choose if we wanted to keep the item because we had already opened it... well... unless we wanted to pay a restocking fee. WHAT A JOKE!

Short of my wife taping her conversation with the sales person, I don't know what she could have done to protect herself in the situation.

I guess anyone reading this... take a video camera or a witness when buying anything from MacForce?? Or just be safe and buy from Apple direct or another Apple reseller. Try MacPac!

Good selection, great service and stellar people. Always nice and quick to help these folks understand what customer is all about. Something I think many businesses have forgotten about recently. They have there own parking lot and free classes too! Lot's of neat gadgets to play with. Check them out.

I have been going here for years for work and my own personal needs. I have noticed that I never get the same sales or support staff each time I'm there. That concerns me.

That said, they know their stuff. If you're not a power user they will take their time to make sure you understand what you can get from you purchase and how to best use it.

If you are a power user they tend to not really be there for you. The Genius bar is better for those of us who need the inside scoop on how to get the inner workings of our systems working.

They carry it all. And the nice thing is they get outside of the normal Apple Store inventory. So they have some hardware that is an alternative.

The place is clean and well organized. It fits the feel of apple as a brand.

Note: They don't sell iPhones, but they do sell some accessories for the iPhone.

The support can be limited. However, I think they need to be in order to honor the Apple warranties. So the three times me or my staff needed to drop off our laptops, the needed to send them to Apple. I have never had them actually serviced by them. However, they were easy to contact and did keep me updated on the progress of my laptop.

I try to shop locally. But I always catch that tattooed, hipster, my alt-country band rocks, well sort of, I couldn't get into art school vibe from these cats. Just kidding. They rule. Now go back to Michigan.

(See: "Horrible Customer Service" review. We agree with this experience)

MacForce has the best prices around compared to other local resellers and the Apple stores - at a COST in more ways than one. We've spent SEVERAL thousand dollars over just a couple of years with them. They have good "garage sales," and they have a buyers loyalty membership. And it seems that so long as you're spending money with them, they're helpful and friendly, but that's about where their loyalty stops with you.

If there's a discrepancy in communication they'll blame you rather than take responsibility for their part. Get things "in writing" AT the time you speak with anyone, or you could possibly regret it later. They use to make us believe they wanted to work things out if there was a problem. With (another) recent situation we're now convinced they would rather - "ream you out," rather than... "work it out."

We would disagree that "the customer is always right." However, customers are your business. You don't ask your customer to have a discussion to work out an issue, as we were asked, only to turn it into an opportunity to barrage and blame the customer for 25 minutes. YES, this happened to us from one of the managers!

We will shop at MacForce again for the prices, but we have no fantasies of receiving customer service beyond the "norm." If you want "above and beyond" customer service - you won't find it here. They are only interested in your dollar, and that's because they're a bottom line business, and that's just the reality of business.

Subsequently, although we were going to make our purchase because their good pricing (a $3000 purchase) we chose not to for the sole reason of how poorly and disrespectfully we were treated. You just don't treat your paying customers like crap, no matter how wrong they might be. (period)

So... if you do find yourself at Macforce for their good pricing - ask yourself: at WHAT cost do you want to pay for a good price. It may turn out to be more expensive than the worth!!

For the past several years now, MacForce has taken care of me, my family and my business. Most honest folks I've ever dealt with in a retail/service environment. I have had numerous computers repaired and tuned up over the years here and have never been disappointed. I was really impressed by a recent visit, so I felt I should let people know just how good they are. If you are frustrated with not knowing how to do things with your computer, try getting some training here. It changed the way I use my computer! I will never shop anywhere else for my tech needs.

Thanks MacForce!

Pros: Best level of service and knowledge in town

Cons: Not open on Sundays

.

This is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I took my computer in for a simple fix and a couple questions and the guy was treating me like a two year old, snarking at any question I asked and acting to cool to give a straight answer. I had them do the minimal fix to secure my data and they ended up charging me twice, and then when I called about the double charge they acted like it never happened and said the transaction didn't exist in their system. The manager was as rude and difficult as the clerk to deal with. I went to the mac store and got what I needed fixed for 38 dollars instead of the 130$ they had quoted me. I suggest unless you want to be disrespected and overcharged to never go to here. I will never go back. I would give a -1 on the star rating if it let me.

Mac force wow, we are a mac 2 member and always go to mac force first because its close, about six months ago we sent out laptop in to get it fixed. After waiting over a week for it to be fixed they told us there was nothing they could do, and we were charged $90! for nothing. Now two weeks ago we brought in the same laptop in, for a different reason because we couldnt download anything, and well we got it back today after being told it would be about $500 to fix it, and the same problem exists due to the fact we told them no. But now you cant even turn on the computer and there is no wifi. Horrible! we sugest not going there find someone who knows what they are doing this is the second time our computer has come back with something else wrong with it!

I have never left a review before, I just have to say this place is great. Last week my computer stopped working so I brought it to MacForce. They said they were currently busy and I would be with out my computer for 5-7 business days, i kind of panicked but decided to go along with it and get my computer fixed. Within 1 day they called me to tell me the diagnoses, and 2 days later they called me to say it was done.

MacForce is great and it comes highly recommended from this local Mac nerd.

I tend to be rather critical of customer service these days. So many poor experiences and it seems like it is a trend that is gaining momentum. Not at MacForce! I feel like I can trust what they tell me and I have never had a single visit where I felt it could have gone better. They are a local business that seems to care about their community and surrounding small businesses. More importantly to me, they treat me like I'm the only one in the store when I'm shopping - even when they are busy.

I say skip the mall and give MacForce a shot. You'll be glad you did.

I was impressed by the knowledge the staff has, and the no pressure approach. I have got a lot out of the classes I have taken and I still cannot believe that it is only $99 for two months of classes. I don't think that I will go back to the Mac Store or the Apple Store. I feel good about spending my money locally too. Oh, and I like the movies they project on to their walls too.

I found MacForce after a couple bad experiences at MacPac and the Mac Store. I prefer to spend my money locally rather than online or at an Apple retail store. I was about to give up on this when I randomly noticed MacForce while waiting for a train in the SE industrial area. I looked over and saw the big white Apple. Looking a little closer I saw that it was a really groovy looking place. So, I pulled over and went in. I sat in on a seminar, which was great. Then had a wonderful conversation about the new Logic Studio with one of the employees. He said he had just started a new musicians group. Man these guys are hip to what it's all about. This guy blew my mind with everything Logic can do now, so I signed up.

Well, I'm sold. I am now a MacForce customer and I feel like I should let everyone know about them. I'm feeling pretty good about spending my money there and sending my friends there too. Did I mention they project movies on to the walls, and that they have an Apple museum? Cool place, 'nuff said.

Well, I'm sold. I am now a MacForce customer and I feel like I should let everyone know about them. I'm feeling pretty good about spending my money there and sending my friends there too. Did I mention they project movies on to the walls, and that they have an Apple museum? Cool place, 'nuff said.

I just discovered MacForce. They talked me out of spending too much money on stuff I didn't really need. I am not the most technologically savvy person. So, this was very refreshing. The educated me quickly on everything I asked about, and never once did I feel dumb or like I was wasting anyone's time. Some of the most honest and genuine people I have done business with in a long time. Again, what a refreshing experience. Keep up the great work MacForce.

Pros: Free seminars, quick and attentive service, no pressure sales, HONEST

Cons: They are not open on Sundays

They claimed they sold me one piece of software when they actually installed something else. Since then, have spent literally hours on the phone and at the store trying to get this fixed.

Throughout this entire incident, they have acted like this was all my fault, and never once acknowledged their obvious screw-up or given even the hint of an apology for all the inconvenience this has caused me.

In fact, covering up their screw ups seems to be the #1 priority at this place.

I recently found MacForce. What a nice little Portland gem!! Unique, clean, fun, knowledgeable, family friendly and affordable. I had a horrible experience with a PC being overrun with viruses that spawned from emails from a local computer store that was supposed to be helping me. Anyway, the people at MacForce put my mind at ease, explained why I didn't need to stress about viruses on a Mac, recovered all my files and put them on my Mac and even signed me up for some training so I wouldn't be confused by my transition from PC to Mac. I usually feel dumb about computer stuff. Not at MacForce. These guys are different. Be sure to check them out and support another great local Portland business. Oh, and now I understand all those Mac commercials too! Thank you MacForce.

Pros: They have parking!! Really nice staff. Beautifully designed store. A cool museum.

Cons: Can't think of anything they are missing.

These guys saved me a lot of money recently. Not only did they fix my computer on the spot for free when another mac store in town told me it would take about a week and cost several hundred dollars. They also gave me a discount on the last couple pre-orders I have placed. And with some 1-on-1 training sessions from MacForce I have completely stopped outsourcing all of my marketing work. It is saving me thousands! I have a lot of respect for companies that keep their clients best interests in mind. Thank you MacForce!

I have had several wonderful experiences at MacForce over the years. From the guys behind the counter running in the rain to get my computer to and from the store. They have fixed a few computers for me and my business. They have even rushed over to our offices when we have needed them to fix our network! They have educated all of us on the technology we use. They hold free events like community BBQs and holiday parties. My kids love going there and so do I. So funky and cool there. Better than shopping at any big box store!

Great experiences here. The staff is friendly and professional. They understand my needs and never ever make me feel dumb. They offer a wide selection of free and paid training that has really helped me quite a bit. Much better than the visits to other computer stores. I will definitely support these guys in the future. Oh, and they are quite a bit cheaper than the Apple store by Lloyd center. I learned that the hard way.

I love these guys and supporting a local small business. My experience with the mall stores is that there are a lot of people and very little attention. Your also have part-time student workers who don't know their stuff. When I bought my iMac at MacForce they spent over 30 minutes with me helping make decisions and showing off some cool applications. I didn't feel rushed or pressured. They don't work on commission. You can tell they love what they do. They have a beautiful store and a huge theatre with free seminars. I also signed up for their training class. Awesome!! oops, I almost forgot the amazing Apple museum. It's definitely worth the effort to go to MacForce instead of the mall.

The two prior reviews really surprised me. I have to say I have been a MacForce customers for a couple years now. Their staff is the most knowledgeable and helpful in Portland. Hands down. I have never had a bad experience there. They offer a bunch of great seminars throughout the week that are free, and their classes are the best. Never too technical or dumbed down, and I have always left feeling more empowered and understanding how to get even more out of my Mac. Their user groups are pretty awesome too.

I have had a few things in the service department there. And I look at it like this. If you want it properly diagnosed, repaired and returned right the very first time, MacForce is the place. Business is about relationships, and the folks at MacForce get that. I have found the service department turnaround time to be on par with the other folks in town. It is the service you receive that will have you coming back as a repeat customer. I cannot believe some of the horror stories I have heard about some of the places that friends of mine have taken their Macs to.

The super cool thing about the MacForce service department is that they can provide a rental machine for you to use while your machine is being worked on. So you do not have to be without a computer, you can keep working! So, I'm not sure about the review above. I usually don't fill these things out, but I believe that people should know that most people probably have a great experience at MacForce.

Besides they support so many awesome things around town and really have built a cool community for a lot of people in and around Portland. Keep shopping local!!

Have had a unit in for repair for over one month.. Apple in Washington Square said they would have just replaced the unit, and I would have had it back within a couple of days.

I also almost took my MacBook Pro there, but they wanted to make me wait while they verified my troubleshooting.. Apple at Washington Square trusted the error from THEIR OWN hardware test, and just ordered me a logic board. Total down time, less than 24 hours!!!

I'm sure they are a good company, but their service department really needs an upgrade or flush or something..

Pros: carry Apple hardware and software.. that's about it.

Cons: slow service department, don't trust Apple hardware test results, Apple themselves are just much quicker..

I purchased a new MacBook at MacForce that stopped working less than a week after I bought it. I asked for a new replacement laptop and was told ??since it can be fixed, I would be charged a $100 restocking fee.? This goes directly against their stated return policy.

I then went to the official Mac store downtown in the mall. The service person told me he would have gladly replaced it, if I had purchased it there. He then repaired it on the spot at no cost to me and sent me on my way.
