Best Spa Experience I've had...
by Terra W.
I live in the Seattle area, and have had the opportunity to experience several spas in our area. My sister-in-law and I were headed to Portland to see a show, and decided to make a weekend retreat of it. After reviewing many spas online she chose The DragonTree... we opted for a full spa package for our first day in town, and had a wonderful experience. The massage was terrific and after my first and only facial, I swore I'd never do it again, but it was included in our package, so, what the heck... What an amazing experience. I admit, it may have been the best part of the day. Yes, a few things were less than perfect... our lunch orders were completely fouled up, and my massage therapist asked if I would mind if he left to grab a glass of water as he was feeling light-headed in the middle of my massage (strange!), but all in all, a completely delightful day!

Amazing Experience
by Anonymous
The experience that I had with the Dragontree staff was beyond my expectations. The girl that took my reservation when I called was sweet and very helpful. When I arrived I was greeted with smiles and lead to the sauna to relax before my appointment. The massage was the best massage I have ever had (I think my masseuse was Kim?)
- she was very informative and had great deep pressure. I will definitely be back.

Done trying...
by Lovelife
I have tried to go back to Dragon Tree several times in hopes that the next visit would be better. The reason I kept trying, was because I loved the decor and they had a sauna that I could use as well. I have had two massages there and both of them were not worth the money. The first massage was in a very bright room with a hug sky light and the second massage was done by a young man that said he was tired of working on people and was ready to find a new job! Aside from this, both masages did not leave me feeling relaxed. My experience in the sauna was far from relazxing as well because there was a group of extremely loud and rude women. There should be a noise policy enforced. I have also had a shoulder massage there and they give it to you while you are sitting up in a very bright room with other people around you. They should have you in a chair, so that the massage therapists can access your muscles easier and really work into them. Anyway, overall, I have yet to be impressed and will continue my journey to find a place that I truly enjoy...

amazing place!
by neiltux
I recently visited the DragonTree for the Shakti package that included a massage and facial. While the facial was not the best (or the worst for that matter), I would completely recommend the massages/foot baths! It was amazing! I had John, who did such a great job and was very friendly and professional. He has the best hands and alternated between many different techniques. I like very deep/hard massages and he exceeded my expectations. For the facial, it just seemed quick, maybe it was just me or maybe it was because I was the last appointment for the night. She was nice, but I did feel like I had a little "lecture" about sunscreen and the types of products I use to wash my face, as if I was at a dermatologist appointment. I will, without a doubt, be back for another massage and many other treatments-the space is amazing and the staff was all very welcoming.
Pros: friendly staff, great products, amazing service
Cons: none

An oasis, a peaceful retreat
by VinRouge
After reading these reviews, I decided to check out the Dragontree for myself. Wow... it really went above and beyond my expectations. To start with, what a beautiful interior. Rich, deep colors, Moroccan/zen-like decor, soothing music, lush greenery, not to mention their zen fish pond with a trickling fountain... just so peaceful. The front desk staff was warm and welcoming, and I really liked how they offered for me to come early and use the saunas... perfect way to decompress before your treatment. I received a deep tissue massage by Roxanne-- wow, amazing! Going back to her for sure.
Thank you Dragontree, you've definitely made another loyal customer.
Pros: atmosphere, unique spa packages
Cons: don't accept Amex or Discover... but a lot of places don't!

Truly Magical
by AnnaBat
This is by far my favorite spa in Portland! From the second you walk in the door until the moment you leave, each minute is an unbelievably relaxing & magical experience. The spa is gorgeous and always smells yummy! The staff have always been professional, welcoming, and attentive. If you have the time and $$, I would suggest one of the luxurious packages that are offered in the extensive spa menu. If not, I also love relaxing in the Sangha Room with a cup of tea and an amazing Sweet & Simple treatment! The owner is so lovely and always so professional. I will be back again and again!
Pros: beautiful atmosphere, skilled & professional staff
Cons: none!

A Place for Peace and Healing
by lannand
The Dragontree is such a special place. Just walking in the front door I feel I'm invited to let go of my daily stresses and experience peace and healing. I have had massage from Roxanne, Joy, John, Chrissy and Serena and they are all so gifted and present in the art of massage. When I started working out again I was of course sore and needed a soothing and gentle massage, and they do that so well. I typically however have tension headaches and postural problems which requires deeper massage and more knowledge and skill. I am so impressed with the quality and expertise of the therapists at The Dragontree. Each time I go, where ever I am physically, mentally and emotionally, each therapist has been receptive and attentive and I get exactly what I need. When I just have the time or money for a little bit of nurturing, it is amazing how much I benefit from a head, neck and shoulder massage or foot massage in the Sangha Room. The Sangha Room is a community room with big cushy couches, floating ivy, and the sound of flowing water in the background.
Another gift The Dragontree has to offer is it's Acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine Doctor Peter Borten. Receiving acupuncture a few times in the past I felt like the change must be subtle and not something that one is necessarily conscious of. I realize after seeing Peter that the healing available from Acupuncture and Chinese medicine is tangible and powerful. Peter is conscious, wise and passionate about the art and precision of Chinese medicine. I am so grateful to have him as a resource in my growth and healing.

The perfect place to find solace
by mrouge
What a hidden gem in this city. If you haven't experienced the Dragontree yet, you must-- do yourself a favor. You walk in to a serene, zen-like atmosphere, with rich colors and candles everywhere, and are greeted by the sweet beautiful girls at the front desk. Last time I was there I took a moment to check out some of their retail too-- pretty neat products that fit in well with their holistic theme (thanks for suggesting the Livia cleanser, Cassie!). I've had a few different massage therapists here and all have been great. I want to recommend the abyhanga (sp?) massage-- what an experience! I really like spending time in their Sangha room, which is their communal space with big red couches, where you can receive foot massages, neck and shoulder massages, hand, etc etc... not to mention their foot baths... sigh :-)
I've frequented a number of spa's in Portland and this one definitely stands out as a beautifully unique sanctuary. I also really liked the Clearing Cafe next door (same owners of the spa) for their yummy nourishing bowls and fresh squeezed juices.
I also like to take advantage of Dragontree's monthly special packages, they're always a nice bargain for what you're getting.
So happy I have found "my" spa here in Portland.
Thanks Dragontree!
Pros: kind staff, great services, gorgeous interior
Cons: none!

Be aware of rescheduling fee.
by volzr1
We have been very pleased with the services at the spa, until now. We were very disappointed in paying a 50% fee for needing to reschedule an appointment because it fell within the 24-hour penalty window.
Unfortunately, illness is not always predictable, and we consider your rescheduling penalty unreasonable, unfair and incongruent with the spirit of your business.
As a result, we are discontinuing our patronage of The Dragontree Holistic Day Spa.

Serena is awesome!!!
by hparfitt
It was my first time being at Dragontree and the moment I walked in the door I was greated with a smile. Sometimes I get uncomfortable going into spas because it can be intimidating, but I felt really comfortable the second I walked in. The spa is very peaceful and relaxing. Serena was my massage therapist and she was AMAZING! She was very thorough and made sure I was getting what I needed personally and focused on the areas I was concerned about. I have already recommended her to 5 people and I just had my massage yesterday! I will definitely be back and will be sending all my friends. Thank you Serena and all of Dragontree staff for making my experience great!
Pros: great customer service, very peaceful
Cons: none, loved it!

Up To You
by commealcina
Most people love this place, and I can see why. The atmosphere is lovely, and some of massage therapists at this spa are really talented. If you end up going, I would recommend Joy. However, it's unfortunate that some of the staff is careless, pretentious and rude. It really ruins the atmosphere. That, compared with the noises in the background constantly (there seems to be a kitchen in a back room, one can hear water running and constant thumping around. The communal massage room with couches is at first amazing, but quickly looses it charm when 5 or 6 others clog up the space, chatting, sharing drinks, and staff walk through the room while you are trying to relax. All in all, I think it depends on the day you go if you have a good experience. If it is a slow day, the front desk is organized, the staff and owner are all in good moods, you will probably have a great time. If not, you may just leave irritated, and feeling like you wasted your money.

best massage in town
by LolitaG
Any trip to the dragontree is an escape from reality. I have gotten full body massage there that was AMAZING and recently just stopped in for a foot bath. Even that simple treat made my whole week better. The ambiance they've created there is out of this world. I'm planning a girls day out trip there when my sisters are in town and can't wait!!!
Pros: service, variety, atmosphere

best massage in portland, peaceful atmosphere
by anontoo
It has been a while since I have gotten a massage-- mostly because I'm new in town and I wasn't sure where to go. A friend recommended the Dragontree and I loved it! It has a very peaceful and relaxing vibe and everyone is so nice and helpful. I had the best massage I've ever had and will definitely request Glen again. He did nice, deep work that left me feeling so calm and relaxed. Overall, I loved this place. Thank you!
Pros: Great massage therapist, relaxing atmosphere, helpful staff

So Relaxing
by 0127
It was my second time going to The DragonTree. They have added the showers and the sauna which was really nice. I had the September special which was a great value. My day started with a lavender foot soak and exfoliation and I received a super yummy berry smoothie. I ended up drooling during my massage and by the time my facial was over my therapist had to come back in and wake me up. All that being said I needed to relax and rejuvenate and The DragonTree delivered. It was all great. Thank you.
Pros: Super Relaxing
Cons: nothing

Great Spa Expereince!

Last Saturday evening was great! The space puts you right in the mood for serious pampering. The foot soak was presented so nicely. The cool towel on the neck was ideal given the hottest day in Portland this year.
The massage from Morgan was epic....deep tissue w/ a Thai touch....wow!
Pros: Location, ambience, staff
Cons: just can't seem to think of one based on my exper last Sat night

Best massage in town!
by Travelbug99
I went to Dragon Tree with 3 friends for massages after reading the positive reviews on CitySearch. We were all extremely happy with our experience and had excellent massages. The staff was friendly, the facilities very relaxing but not overly posh. We loved that we got fluffy robes, and we sat in the sauna on and off for an hour before and after our massages. I've had 3 other massages in Portland and none even remotely compared to the great experience at Dragon Tree. I will definitely be visiting again!
Pros: Ambience, service

I received a lovely gift certificate for a bundled packaged: foot, body, and facial. The person who serviced me for the foot and body massage was amazing. The facial was mediocre, but the person was very kind. Although I will not be using the facial service, I will continue with the body massage. All the knots around my shoulders are 80% gone after one session. I will be returning as long as the masseuse is around.
The ambiance was not really my style but the sauna room was very modern and seemed very clean.
The staff was very accommodating and I have recommended my friends for to the masseuse.

Great space to relax and unwind
by orfoodie
This spa is a wonderful retreat from the hustle of everyday life. I have been there a few times and found the experience to be peaceful and relaxing. I was uncertain of the foot soak but it really transcends you to another place. The massages I have received have been wonderful and the staff is incredible. The only downside was the facial I received. I would try someone other than Kendall. She was not as skilled as the others. She finished about 15 minues before the scheduled time and left me in the room to "relax" for the rest of the time. She used the wrong products than what was described and when I brought it to her attention, she was insistent about the type of facial I was supposed to receive. I checked at the front desk and she was incorrect. I told her I loved my skincare line, she quit talking to me seemingly because I was not going to buy something. This was an unusual experience for this spa. I strongly recommend any of the other services or staff as neither I nor any friends have had anything but a wonderful experience other than this one time.
Pros: Wonderful experience
Cons: Request staff

I wanted my skin to glow for my birthday, and that's just what it did after my facial with Cassi. She was absoulutely amazing! I have had a number of facials at several different locations. None have compared to the one i received at the dragontree. My entire experience there was fantastic. I highly recomend it to anyone looking for a calm and soothing spa experience.
Pros: everything
Cons: thin walls

relaxation starts in the lobby
by JREH
My best friend and I decided we needed a regular spa day and went to several different places before we tried Dragontree. We have been back several times and this is our spa of choice. We usually pick a package of some sort and haven't had a bad experience yet. The environment is tranquil and calming. The spa smells wonderful. Everyone I have worked with is considerate and friendly. The music is not obtrusive but definitely makes you relax. I am on their mailing list and love their monthly specials.
There are pitchers of water everywhere so you can keep hydrated, and comfy couches to wait between services.
Pros: quiet calm environment, nice dry sauna for before services
Cons: first appointment of the day, make sure and inquire about the sauna and get there early to use

Spa Sanctuary
by DFAM
My boyfriend and I recently spent a weekend in Portland, and an incredible afternoon at the Dragontree! The warm atmosphere, courteous staff and attention to detail cannot be overstated. It proved worthwhile to arrive for our appointments early -- we were able to take advantage of the Dragontree's sauna rooms and tea service prior to our heavenly footbaths and massages. Our masseuses were quite professional and knowledgeable, and we left our massages feeling like new! The Dragontree is a spa sanctuary. I recommend it highly.
Pros: Atmosphere, staff, sauna, unique spa treatments, tea list!
Cons: none

Dissapointed
by dnaltrop
My friend recommended this spa couple of months ago. I came in for a treatment that included a foot bath, massage and a facial. The food bath and the massage were ok but I particulary loved my facial from Ginny and since then I have been coming in regularly for facials, waxing and more. When I called to schedule an appointment couple of days ago I was surprised to hear that my esthetician Ginny had gone somewhere else to work, and even more surprised that they would not tell me where she had gone. I was dissapointed to say the least. The receptinist told me that the new esthetician could get me in and that she was very talented. So I went ahead and made the appointment and went in. I was not impressed with my facial, the new esthetician seemed stressed, annoyed and overall not very happy to be there. I did not at all feel relaxed or even welcomed, instead I felt like she was just trying to rush me out of there so she could go home. It did not compare to my previous facials from Ginny. I don't think I'm going back.

nice way to spend a rainy afternoon
by regulardude
I'm not a "spa" guy, but my girlfriend talked me into going to this place with her last year. I got a massage and a footbath, and it was very cool. I'm an attorney and things can get pretty stressful, so it was fantastic to just completely relax for an hour or so. Everyone is very soothing and the place has a nice combination of natural light (there's a big sort of frosted and shaded skylight above the place where they do footbaths) and dim warm lighting. The massage was awesome. I can't really compare this to any other spa, because I've never really been to another one, but I can say that I have now had a few afternoons here, and they are perfect. It's a really welcome place to chill out.

Best "Spa" Experience I've ever had!
by citylady1973
To call this a spa simply under-delivers on what I would consider a "spa" - this word usually evokes the image of facials, waxing and beauty treatments - but to underestimate this spa in that way would be a disservice. You CAN get those treatments, but that is the tip of the iceberg, and obviously not the focus of The Dragon Tree where they truly provide holistic services. I visited with a gift card from my sister for a Custom Package that included a foot bath and foot massage in a gorgeous relaxing atmosphere, a one hour massage (my therapist was Glen and if he isn't booked solid for the next ten years it's only because people don't know about him and his mad skills), and a facial. My mind, body, and senses were simultaneously immersed in a heavenly afternoon escape. If I could convey my enthusiasm for this spa in actions I would cartwheel to you at this moment and shake you into action...GO treat yourself! Upon leaving I scheduled an appointment with the acupuncturist Peter and another massage, I can only imagine how fabulous these treatments will be if they compare in any way to my experience so far. On a side note the receptionist referred me to the coffee shop next door for a late lunch and cup of joe - and was dead on, it was fantastic! Great Staff!
Pros: Excellent massage, peaceful atmosphere, thoughtful staff, attention to detail.
Cons: ONLY THAT I COULDN'T STAY FOREVER!

Not pleased
by bookworm97209
I have been going to Dragon Tree for facials for a little over a year now and will no longer return. I was dissappointed to hear that my favorite esthetician is no longer there and her service was the only thing I found especially pleasing about the entire spa. I refuse to receive facials from anybody else. You have lost a loyal customer.

3 strikes, I'm out!
by jojoluvs2eat
This has been my favorite spa for 2 years now. They have fantastic massage therapists. Something has happened at the front desk over the past 2 months and I'm giving up. In December I scheduled appointments for myself and 2 friends. I was called back and told that they overbooked but that we could come in the next day. I called back and said we would take the new day and time. Upon our arrival for the appointments, we were told that our appointments were the day prior and they couldn't see us. The person in charge did the best she could to make it right. Sometimes things happen. Two weeks ago, I called and scheduled an appointment. Soon after I got the call back stating that they thought they could move things around but it turns out that they couldn't accomodate me. Today, I called to see if I could get in for a massage. I was told that I could be seen in an hour. Within 2 minutes, I received a call back stating that a therapist was available but there was no room available and they were sorry but I couldn't be seen today. I was informed that systems were being changed and that things were a little unorganized. This is entirely unacceptable for a neighborhood business (or any business for that matter) and think that they should cease doing business until they have fixed the critical process of effectively booking an appointment. If this has happened to me everytime I've tried to get in in the last 2 months (3 times now), I can't help but think that it is happening to others. How long does it take to get it together? An extreme disappointment and I will no longer continue to reccomend this as the best spa in Portland.
Pros: Great Massages, Great Location, Nice Environment
Cons: Can't schedule appointments

Best spa in Portland, hands down
by eatout4ever
The Dragon Tree is the real deal - it walks like a spa and quacks like a spa because it really IS a spa! I've been coming here for about a year and I have had consistently wonderful experiences with massage and foot baths (although I'm really sad that my favorite massage therapist left). The staff is very friendly, professional and accommodating and not even remotely snooty (unlike some other local 'spas' - some of which aren't even really spas). They have a wide range of services available and I love that you could just come in for a foot massage/foot bath and take a little downtime or you could spend practically the entire day there. The space is also gorgeous and very calming/comfortable - it's easy to relax in this environment. The low lights and warm colors definitely take the edge off. I can finally stop trying a new spa every time I want spa services - the search is over and I found the winner.
I'd had several spa visits in Los Angeles and Las Vegas before moving to Portland and trying a 'spa' here. One problem in Portland is that it seems like some places just randomly call themselves 'spas' and I'm not sure what qualifies them to label themselves as such (i.e. in LA, when you go to a spa, you can expect that there will be changing facilities with lockers and sauna/jacuzzi/cold plunge/steam room [or all of them] and that the staff will offer beverages and that the hospitality is warm and gracious; a place where you are sent to a room to change, have your service and re-dress all in the same room is not a spa, Portlanders!).

My wife and I had an extraordinary time when we visited The Dragontree two weeks ago. Our massage therapists were fantastic - and for the first time ever leaving a massage I felt a significant difference in my body. My wife loved her massage also. The receptionist was friendly and inviting. The foot soaks were nice too. We will definitely be frequent visitors.
Pros: massage, saunas, personable and sweet staff

Disappointed for the price
by fancyfoot
My friend and I went to the Dragontree for a 3 hour pampering. My friend got her foot soak while i waited almost 10 minutes before I got mine. We ordered tea and it never came, nor was it ever mentioned after we ordered it. Since my friend had been in the foot soak for almost 10 minutes more than me, they took us out of the foot soak and i only had 10 minutes in it! The facial was AMAZING. She did a great job and was very nice. Then while my friend went from her massage straight to the facial, i had to wait over 30 minutes for my massage. I paid over $200.00 for this treatment and felt I did a lot of waiting and got the short end of the stick compared to my friend. I don't think I will go again.
Pros: nice atmosphere
Cons: spendy

A delightful spa.........lovely, serene with a good variety of services. The staff is knowledgable and most courteous and take great care to enhance your experience. Buying their products is NOT pushed and I totally appreciated that aspect, as well. We three friends that went together were very impressed.

I have been to MANY spas in Portland. Dragontree is now my favorite. The people were so friendly and warm here and I felt at home. The value of their treatments is unmatched in Portland. I was really impressed with the value and prices here. Other spas seem much higher. I thought the ambience was very charming and exotic. Their "Teas" are wonderful too and great to sip on during your foot bath.
Pros: warm staff, good prices, fabulous teas, value
Cons: could not find, need bigger sign

by mandygirl27
I have been to several spas in the Portland area and found my experience at the Dragontree to be somewhat disappointing. The atmopshere was mediocre. It seemed whoever chose the decor was trying too hard to be "relaxing" and "peaceful". But really it came across tacky, dishevled, and mainly needed a good cleaning. I arrived early to my appointment but had to wait 15 minutes or more until I was actually being serviced. The woman who gave me the facial was very kind and helpful. She had a lot of knowledge about skin and I appreciated all of her advice although I could tell she was very stressed but trying her hardest to make my experience a pleasant one. The room itself was also extremely hot and really quite uncomfortable. Amidst the shortcomings of the spa my facial was exceptional and I would love to continue to receive services from that particular employee again!
When leaving the spa I didn't feel as relaxed as I had hoped. There seemed to be a lot of neagtive energy in the air. I would surely return if some much needed improvements were made to Dragontree.
Pros: talented staff, quality facial
Cons: poor cleanliness, tacky atmosphere

Hello, today was my first time to DragonTree. I first received a footbath which was lovely, served with complimentary tea or water. Then a massage, which I must say was one of the best I have ever received. Followed by a trip to the sauna and shower. I left happy and relaxed. The establishment is clean and organized, staff professional. I found my new oasis.

Great monthly specials
by maejune
I went to The DragonTree for the first time in March. I tried the monthly special so that I could have a sample of the various services they offer. I was not disppointed. Three of the treatments were done by Tanya and my facial was done by Ginny. Everything was great. The facility was comfortable and I felt very relaxed and refreshed when I left. I will recommend this spa to my friends and I will go there again myself!

What a great mother's day present!!
by mallyh
Imagine my treat when my husband surprised me with a mother's ay spa day. I had such a wonderful time and felt truly pampered. What I loved most is that this is not a place that does manicures, pedicures, and hair. This place is about a whole body relaxation experience. Tonya was so wonderful and made my foot soak, foot and hand and full body massage magical. The surroundings are decorated like India, including the music, to add to the experience. My facial was very relaxing and my face glowed. Come early and use the sauna and have a cup of tea. I know that I will be back- I will be sending my daughter here for her birthday in August. Thank you Dragontree for a amazing time!! I felt truly special! Heidi M.
Pros: atomsphere, staff was so friendly, best pampering around

I have never been to a spa before so my review is not a comparison. I just really wanted to praise The People at The Dragon Tree for making my birthday treat special. I loved the seemingly unlimited use of the sauna with all the ammenities..shower, and products to fix yourself back up when done.. My facial was amazing and there was no sales pressure...I still bought all the products she used and my skin has visibly improved I have been struggling with enlarged pores and clogged pores forever. I feel too spoiled when i get my feet pampered so i had a hard time not giggiling during my soak..but the massage was done by a fellow by the name of lincoln..he was amazing he let me tell him exactly how i like it..i know its not important how my massuse looked, but he was beautiful and professional and i thought it was a sweet bonus. I like how you can just come in for sauna time as well. i cant believe it when people go to spas that dont have any sauna or hot tub...but thats just me..
Pros: sauna time unlimited
Cons: no advice about products i bought

I recently came to the Dragontree and it was so wonderful! I saw Ginny for a facial and she was amazing! Her touch was perfect. The Dragontree is an absolute gem, beautiful and calming, and the staff is very warm and friendly. Thank you!

The best spa around
by marileepdx
Everytime I go to The Dragontree I have a great experience. The staff is warm and sincere and they do great work! I have had a few different "spa combinations" with facials and massage and foot stuff - and I am never disappointed. The massuers have all been very attentive to my desires and the facialist is also very talented. I will continue to go back for my monthly pampering!

Wonderful date place
by hollysprite
We went to the Dragontree on Friday evening for our 30th anniversary - and we loved it!! It was perfectly romantic, very relaxing, and the services were fantastic! I highly recommend trying their services in the couch room where you can cuddle up and be treated like royalty. We'll be back - thank for making it a memorable anniversary :)

Heart centered care, beautiful atmosphere, perfect experience
by shantasticallyme
Going to the Dragontree is like escaping into comfort. Not like going to a place that is an "escape" but feels too akward to relax, but really a place where right from the moment that you walk in you feel beautifully at home and in a sanctuary at the same time. The receptionist who greeted us was calm, beautiful, and welcoming. The sauna/locker/shower area is perfectly lit and wonderfully designed. My massage was the best massage I have ever had (and I have had a lot!) and my foot bath was more relaxing than I could have imagined. My girlfriend loved her facial and joined me in their "community room" for a foot soak where we drank tea, relaxed, and NEVER WANTED TO LEAVE. From my experience at spas and other retreat centers - this place is the perfect combination of peace, authenticity, and beauty that I have always been looking for. I will definately come back.
Pros: therapies, atmosphere, welcoming

PLEASE READ THIS

I'm writing this review to share something about CitySearch that viewers may not understand. When a practitioner or business has never been reviewed, rather than designating them as "Not Rated," CitySearch aribitrarily assigns them a number in the low 7's -- usually about 7.1. Most viewers will assume this means this practitioner or business has been rated somewhat poorly. Many fantastic practitioners (as well this practitioner) fall into this category because we just don't pay attention to CitySearch -- and little do we know we have some of the lowest ratings on CitySearch. Someone might follow a link to CitySearch to find our phone number and then discover -- Uh Oh, we only rate 7.1 -- and decide not to see us. But, easy as it could be to change, CitySearch won't simply put "Not Rated" (I've asked), because the current policy gets disgruntled businesspeople to tell everyone they know to visit this site and vote for them to get them out of this predicament. Please, don't disregard this practitioner, nor the many other great practitioners out there based on the numbers you see on this site.

My regular place - and i live in LA!
by riki2000
I come to Portland on business every other week or so and the place that I stay recommended this spa for some body work that I was needing. I have never been more thrilled to have tried a new place out, I now go there every time that I am in town. They have fabulous monthly specials, deep tissue therapists (for real - not just the charging you more kind), and my favorite esthetician in the world. Portland is lucky to have such an amazing oasis and I am lucky to have found them!
Pros: The esthetician, the atmosphere, saunas

exceptional customer service

I visited the dragon tree day spa about a week ago, and am already thinking of returning! From the moment that I entered the spa, a sense of peace and relaxation washed over me in response to the warm colors and beautiful decor. I was greeted in a friendly and prompt manner by the spa attendant who took plenty of time to show me around and assure that I felt at home. Then, after 30 blissful minutes in the sauna, I was introduced to Ginny, who, performed a delightfully memorable facial on me... my skin never glowed so bright! She did a great job and educated me on some products for my skin type. A little later, I recieved a swedish massage from Erin, who had a gentle yet very therapuetic technique. In one short hour, which usually flies by when given a massage, she was able to make some real headway in my upper back. Finally, I recieved a foot soak, which was utterly decadent. To summarize my experience at the dragon tree... it rocked! Great service, tranquail atmoshere, quality employees. Exactly what a spa experience should be. I will definately visit again.
Pros: quality staff, excellent services, peaceful enviorment
Cons: none

Perfect spa experience
by sheikchick
My best girlfriend took me to The Dragontree for a super needed spa day. We both had Element Infusions and it was EXACTLY what I needed. The whole set up was perfect, we were able to sauna before our foot baths and massage which was relaxing in and of itself, but every detail from the warm oil head massage to the fantastic showers was out of this world! It was my first time at this spa, I usually go to another Portland spa, but it is definately my new favorite and I will be back!
Pros: massage, warm oil head massage, atmosphere
Cons: had to leave eventually

I went for their August special - a foot bath, scrubby thing, and massage and loved it! It was a great deal and there was no skimp on the fantastic factor! I can't wait for the September special, and October special, and November special.....

Kind and beautiful
by catpower
The spa itself is absolutely gorgeous - decorated in an elegant, warm, and creative way. But, the real beauty of my experience was my therapists. Lila did my massage and she was excellent! She was able to really help my shoulder and was very sweet and professional (aka didn't talk too much) and then Ginny did my facial - I can't recommend her enough, she was gentle and amazing to my super sensitive skin. The whole experience was exactly what I was looking for - I will definately be back.
Pros: everything

Best spa in the universe probably
by kikin
I moved here from San Fran where I got ton of spa treatments, and i've tried a bunch of great spas in Portland too but nothing ever compared to the spatastical experience I had here. A nice balance of luxury, simplicity, and healing. My lady that worked on me was super friendly and had amazing hands - the kind of person that you wish you could take home with you! I will definately be back! And . . . the person checking me out said that they are adding showers and saunas soon too! I can hardly wait (and I hope that it is true:) )
