To be honest I wasn't unhappy about my hair cut, but didn't care for the atmosphere. It seemed like their was tension between the girls and they barely talked or even looked at one another. It really affected my experience. When I go

I have been meaning to write this review for a little while now and just got around to it. I had been going to this salon for some time now seeing Yvette the owner for my cut and color. However the last few times she cut my hair it was very uneven and I didn't notice until I got home when my husband pointed it out. I'm not the type to complain so I attempted to fixed it myself, without much luck.. I decided to let it grow out a little before i returned to give the salon another try. 7 weeks later I had another a[pointment scheduled so I went in and after sitting in her chair I mentioned the previous cut. She laughed it off and continued on with my service. low and behold when i got home i realized she had hacked into it even worst than before. There was a hole behind both my ears and it was 2 inches shorter than I asked. I went home, tried to repair some of the damage and wait for my hair to grow back... I knew Yvette was leaving for maternity leave and since the salon was so convenient to my home i took advantage of her being gone and went in for my next appointment with a different stylist to try someone else out. Third times a charm, right? WRONG! I walked in on time and the receptionist informed me that Kelsey would be right out. I sat there awkwardly for 15 minutes listening to girls laughing in the back room. Finally she comes out and my service is started. I tell her what i want and that my color is on file. She doesn't ask many questions and acts like she knows exactly what to do and disappears into the back room. Once again I'm left sitting for 15 minutes while I hear her talking to another stylist in the back. She eventually comes and and starts on my service. Conversation is really awkward and she spends more time talking about herself and to the other stylist than me. And again I waited on her while she chatted in the back after my dryer beeped that I was done. Eventually her next client shows up and I can tell my the way she is jerking my head around that she is frazzled because she is running late. Cut to the end of my service, and I notice that there are still gray hairs around my face. And it is way more blond than when i came in. i pointed this out to her but she tries to convince me they look "blond" and blend in fine. I didnt want my gray blended i want it covered! I also asked for more texturizing in the back because i could feel it bushy around my neck. She pretended to do something and it didnt look any different but she rushed me out of her chair for her next client. Needless to say I was very disappointed with my services here. I tried to give them more chances but obviously it wasnt just a one time mistake. I will NOT be going back.

I think that they could use some help in the customer relations department -- I have been there several times and I get tired of the stare you get walking in, while stylists are working on clients. There is no comaraderie towards others clients, no sense of feeling special that would be evidenced by great greeting off the bat, someone grabbing your coat and offering you a refreshment -- and mean it.

Often you sit in front waiting like you're sitting in the principals' office until someone decides to pay attention. They need to make it more special for clients starting with great walk-through-the-door friendly service. There is an insensitivity factor sometimes there, a checked out disinterest overall. The various stylists are off in their own world. People aren't inclined to start up a conversation, look your way with a smile, I mean, just the basics. There's a warmth chip missing, except for the owner, who is lovely. When I've tried to casually visit or make a joke, the staff seemed generally uninterested. No one would strike up conversation. It seemed like effort on their part.

And when they did bring me a coffee, which was great, there was clack-clack delivery with a chirpy voice, then she turned heel and disappeared, almost like an SNL skit. Novare doesn't deliver a welcoming feeling from a cohesive staff, or care about it being a fun place to be -- which is the hallmark of a great salon! While their services are pretty good, and prices in the high end salon ballpark, Novare culture doesn't stretch itself by bending over backwards to make it fun or friendly -- or try hard enough to deliver that pampered salon experience. The owner just got back from maternity with some personnel changes. I'm giving it a few more tries.

Let me just tell you that this place is not just any other salon, it truly is an incredible place! The ladies at Novare are there for you. They hear what you ask for and bring it to a whole other level that leaves you breathless. Before I started going to Novare, I went to many salon's all over town. I couldn't find the right place and didn't really connect with anyone. The first time I went to Novare there was instant connection. I've since had the pleasure of getting my hair done by quite a few of the stylist there and have loved it everytime. The ladies there are so beautiful, down to earth, and are well educated in the latest trends and styles. They are exclusively Bumble and Bumble as well. I would highly recomment this place to children and all the way to adults. They can give you the classic look or a more edgy look. This place is a treasure to the Sellwood neighborhood!

Pros: Warm atmosphere

Cons: none

The woman who worked on me knew that she wouldn't be able to give me the red color I wanted when she first looked at my hair but didn't tell me until she had already started the process of lifting my old color out. By then it was too late to change plans. She said she understood when I explained where I wanted the red color placed but then put it where she wanted it not where I asked for it to be.

I also told her I needed more shape to my hair and some softness around my face but I came out with the same cut I've had for years (which I had been giving myself at home for free!).

They may be great if you want a fairly standard do, straight out of a fashion magazine but if you want something on the different side, look elsewhere.

I feel it was definitely a waste of my money.

The girls that work at Novare are always first class. They do a really GREAT job, but besides that, you just enjoy being with them. They are just good people!!

excellent hair dos, although the name of this salon has changed to novare. Christine is the best hairdresser to ever touch my hair. the color is fantastic and the design of this place is very beautiful, done by christine and her husband, who owns sellwood cycle repair. Yvette is also a good stylist. Can be difficult to get in but worth the wait.

If you want a good hair cut or color please call Novare! Everyone in the salon is friendly and chatty, fun and full of life. My personal hairdress, Stephanie, has been doing my hair for 12 years now and I'd never let another person near it now. Not only do I get compliments left and right, but I just love to go see her.

Have a cup off coffee or a pop while you sit and chat with the girls, let them light up your day with giggles and fun stories. They are up on the latest trends, but there is nothing snooty about the place.

If you've ever had a bad hair experiance, they can fix you and you'll never want to see another sylist. If you need a new stylist, don't be afraid to go see them. I'd bet my hair on them!

PROS: easy parking, wonderful people, FUN
