Great local auto repair shop. Gets work done right on one visit with inexpensive prices. Owner takes time to point out maintenance concerns and helps add life to the car. My friends, family, and business associates have been pleased with this shop's service for years. Also, it's convenient to mass transit to get downtown or to light rail.
I've been going to Japanese Auto Repair for years and love their service. They can always make a last second appointment and they don't overcharge. I've done nearly a complete overhaul on my Subaru and I couldn't be more impressed with their repair work. They'll quickly diagnose your issue and make note of anything else that may need repair (either now or something to keep an eye on in the future). It's hard to find an honest shop, but Japanese Auto Repair is definitely a great, honest, reliable repair company. Couldn't be more happy!
Pros: Great service, knowledgeable staff, good prices
I am a long-time customer of Japanese Auto Repair and highly recommend their services to anyone. My wife and I, my daughter and her husband, my sister-in-law, and other friends all have our cars maintained by Denny. We have never had issues and found the service to be thorough, professional, on-time, and reasonably priced.
They really proved their worth when my daughter was living at home and had a brake job done by a national franchise. The car went back three times and still there was a loss of pedal. Japanese Auto found that the wrong master cylinder was installed and that could have led to a tragic accident. We have gotten many years of reliable service by following proper maintenance and having this shop perform the work.
I know we have saved money not only by the reasonable prices, but by receiving expert advice on maintenance which prolonged the life of our cars. My Hondas and Subarus had lots of miles on them and never let us down, always fixing it right on the first visit. I recommend them for any repairs and for long-term maintenance needs.
Pros: Reasonable prices, prompt service, fixed right the 1st time
Cons: Never experienced any cons
I was pleased to have my car serviced at a low price. I found that they were honest and outgoing to my needs. This was the best alternative to the dealer for me, thanks.
Pros: prompt service
Two co-workers with old and new subaru's recommended JAR so I was very excited to find a good alternative to the dealer. Among other things, they replaced my clutch since my car has over 100k miles on it). Apparently they forgot to check the fluid and master cylinder while they were in there. I drove the car home and had no troubles, but the next day the clutch began sticking so bad that it would pop the clutch out every time I shifted. So I took it back and they adjusted the pedal. Not good enough, next day same problem was happening. Took it BACK in and now all of the sudden it's the master cylinder - great another $350. I would not normally have told them to replace the clutch before knowing who I was dealingwith, but they came so highly recommended that I told them to just do everything. Wish I would have known the clutch was going to cost over $1,000 - wouldn't have had them replace it!!
I won't be recommending JAR to anyone and will tell my co-workers to do the same.
Pros: Quick and cheaper than dealer
Cons: Missed something
Fact: Japanese Auto Repair (JAR) charges $85/hr and often has a minimum
Quality of works and fairness: Very Questionable. I firmly believe that JAR misdiagnosed my initial car problem which ended up costing me a lot more than the initial estimate they gave. Took my car back to JAR for the same problem over a 2 week period
Suggestions: Get a 2nd and 3rd opinion from other shop before you commit to any works.
Conclusion: I will not recommend JAR to anyone and hope I will never have to take my car back to their shop. Not even for the 1 year warranty on parts and labors that they offer but never provide a hard copy of the details warranty unless you demand for one.
I was naive to place my trust in JAR and it cost me an additional $400 which total $1785. After my personal experience, it?s obvious that JAR does not stand behind their works and it ended up costing me more money then the actual value of my car. All I got in the end was doubt, a used ECU with a 30 days warranty and an empty promise from JAR.
?Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice shame on you.?
?Money made through dishonest practices will not last long.?
I now question how many of the things that JAR recommends to change on my car were really necessary?
I hope my personal recount of what happens to me will help you in your time of needs.
Cons: Misdiagnosed source of car problem and passed cost onto customer
