If you are a white racist or a militant Jew-hater, Citybikes is the bicycle shop for you. The Citybikes President, Tim Calvert, has been involved with antisemitic organizing for years, and does activism with Holocaust-deniers and white supremacists. This has been a known problem since 2009, yet Citybikes tacitly supports their President's bigoted political organizing.

Next Adventure store personnel said try Citybikes, and provided directions. I went to the Citybikes 734 Southeast Ankeny Street location, because I was told to try that first.
I wanted to purchase a second-hand bicycle seat, because I know very well people purchase their own favorite bicycle seat leaving whatever bicycle seat that came on their bike at the store. As it turns out, I did.
I had just purchased a folding bicycle, at $149 brand new, so it made no sense to me to purchase a bicycle seat for more than the price of the bicycle.
I got no attitude for having a new bike, nor for driving up in my minivan. In fact, I like the attitude I felt there and I liked seeing bicycles well cared for: I was loving the store.
The people working there were helpful, without "selling" stuff every moment. I looked around. I had interest in two or three other items. I got helpful information, all while the first person who had spoken to me was on it and put the bicycle seat on my bike.
If I had not found a suitable bicycle seat in the "used box" I would have gone on to their 1914 Southeast Ankeny Street location, and inquired there. I can't tell you about that location.
This one was just right.

Might be a good place to look for parts for an older low-end bike, but the prices on used components seem a bit steep, and I can do without the hoody attitude.

As a bike amateur, I always feel sort of intimidated going into a bike shop. I was pretty intimidated coming in here, and I was met with friendly but still slightly hostile employees who looked at me like I was a moron for not understanding a thing about bikes. My experience wasn't so bad, and I do have credit at Citybikes, so I will go back. I really like the idea of this store, but I wish they'd be a bit more customer friendly.

I stopped by Citybikes and this store is awesome! Quirky little place but the staff knows their stuff and I was impressed by the amount of used bikes and what great condition they were in!

Many years ago my future wife and I decided that her old Raleigh was too nice to just rust on the porch, so we hauled it down to City Bikes and asked about the consignment process. After repairing the bike and prepping it for sale, they would deduct those costs from an eventual sale. We figure - what the heck, at worst we were recycling. Months later we got a check that was much more than we expected.

Flash forward to last summer and we once again decided it was time to find a new home for a bike gathering dust. This time it was a tandem. I dragged it down and was talking it over with one of the staff and mentioned our experience with a previous consignment. He actually remembered that previous bike and described it perfectly. Just as before, we received a check in the mail some time later, for a very fair price.

They say they won't take just any bike on consignment, but it's well worth asking if you have one to sell. On the flip side, I would not hesitate to buy a used bike there - I looked at several and they were in great shape. They love bikes and want to see them have long and useful lives. I support that idea.

Citybikes is worker owned and operated. Which is always a good, good thing. I had my bike tuned up there, and they did a great job. It took a while to get it done, because everyone and their brother was doing the same thing, at the onset of spring.
After I got my bike back, I had a flat tire within a few days. I took it back to the shop, and they fixed it free of charge. I've also found some good used parts there. Recycling is also a good thing.
