Sammy's Flowers

My son was not in the country on his first wedding anniversary. He wanted beautiful flowers for his wife, and Sammy's provided them on time, with her favorite flowers. He sent me a picture of what they did, and it was a lovely arrangement. It eased his mind knowing she would have these flowers, and he could trust the store to get them there on the correct date.

Sammy's did the flowers for our daughter's Feb. 28th wedding at the Waverley Country Club. They were designed, created and executed by SAGE,a floral designer at Sammy's. It was as if SAGEcrawled inside my daughter''s head and created the exact floral arrangements that my daughter wanted. Our friends are still commenting on the outstanding arrangements a month later! The prices were more than fair, and this shop accomodated our every need. The attention to detail with delivery right on time and set-up done to perfection could not be toppedd by any florist. Go to Sammy's and ask for SAGE!

The service was efficient. I called with a last minute, rush order. They had up to date photos on their website and I was able to order exactly what I wanted. When it came, it looked exactly like the photo. My Valentine was impressed and that was the point. I'd use them again. Whoever I spoke with on the phone was very patient and pleasant.

In a world where everything is about some megastore and these days discount stores, it is so nice to see and be able to experience the personal service and selection you get from an independent business owner. I have been watching so many local businesses on the brink of failing and to see this one thriving and have such a popular following really validates how I feel about it. It is a unique and special place. The selection is vast. I live in the neighborhood and I love walking by all the flowers that line the sidewalk. I get an arrangement every week and not because I have a lot of money. The way they sell their flowers you can create your own arrangements (they sell by the stem) and so I just choose around the more expensive stuff, but never feel like I have ever walked away with anything other than an awesome centerpiece for my table. So come on people, support local and our culture! There are so many great businesses in my neighborhood I want to survive! Go to local bakeries, florists, butchers and restaurants. They need you.

Cons:
Bought flowers for delivery to my wife at work on her thirtieth birthday. Told them she was leaving at 3:30pm. They said "no problem." I got a call at 4pm and was told "we just noticed that your flowers are still sitting here." Said they were swamped that day. HUGELY depressing. I asked why they didn't call hours before when they knew there might have been a problem looming, the response was something like "Derrrr?!?"

Pros:
Offered full refund without complaint. Offered to re-deliver that evening to the house or restaurant of my choosing. Very apologetic.

I happend to randomly find reviews of this particular flower shop. I had to laugh when I read the review that critisized the store for not telling the customer that cats can get sick from lilies. I am sorry, but the store was right about what they said to the customer. In life people sometimes need to use their brains and find out information on their own about "lilies". Because of ignorant people such as these, there must be labels on coffee cups from McDonalds that caution that the coffee may be hot!

BUYER BEWARE: Any flower or plant in the LILY family is extremely poisonous to your cat! We bought a $40 bouquet from Sammy's for an event, and our pet got some of the pollen on his nose. After a quick internet search we found out that any and all parts of the lily are toxic and cause rapid kidney failure in felines. We went back to the flower shop to inform them of this information, and they could have cared less! Not only was the manager rude - he didn't even stop working to listen to us! - he said it was our fault and that he didn't have time to inform his customers about the hazard of specific flowers (Needless to say in this case they are hypocrites, as the woman who arranged the flowers for us DID alert us to possible skin irritation from another flower in our bouquet). He was confrontational from the start, and told us that WE could make signs for his shop because he just didn't have the time. Caveat Emptor is true in this case, but watch out for this pretentious flower shop, especially if you have animals or have ever cared about one! They certainly don't, and will take your money but not responsibility for their ignorance.

As you can see of my review last year I was disappointed to say the least, then I see that Sammy?s said they ?gave this customer a full refund? that is absolutely not true what so ever, I ask for help with the dead flowers and was told ?I can offer you SOME store credit next time you buy flowers?
Stop lying ? you offered no refund, maybe its just a bad employee in NW, but my every word was true.

I've used Sammy's multiple times for deliveries to friends and co-workers. They have done an absolutely amazing job of translating my crazy arrangement instructions (i.e., "oh, you know, she's really cool and creative, something hip and fresh, but not gaudy or weird and not too smelly") and created gorgeous bouquets that perfectly fit the personalities of the recipients. Customer service is amazing, too. Most of my delivery requests are same-day and Sammy's never bats an eyelash - they arrange something beautiful and get it right out the door. Product excellence AND stellar service? Yep, Sammy's can deliver both.

Sammy's did the flowers for my wedding. There roses were so perfect. I found a picture of some bouquets I liked in bridal magazines when I went to Sammy's with them they helped me think about price, season of the flowers, and what would look best with my colors. I got a lot of compliments and my mother in law still keeps talking about how pretty they were. Very romantic arrangements.

Pros: next to trader joes so i can pick up some ben and jerry's:)

I just love Sammy's Flowers! They are definitely the best florist in Portland Oregon. I have tried several. Some are okay, but the people at Sammy's Flowers florist are spot on every time! Their sense of color, and variety is great. Whether it's simple and traditional, or modern and tropical, they can be what you want them to be. . .they "get it". Definitely the best florist in Portland in my experience.

My dear friend did the majority of the flower arrangements for me: centerpieces, Bouquets, Boutonnieres, etc. and Sammy's was so helpful in helping figure out filler, supplies, etc.
I did use Sammy's specifically for my alter arrangements and they were fantastic. So helpful!!

i am writting to say, that i just had the most amazing shopping experience at SAMMYS flowers!!! great staff helped me pick the best of the best flowers they had!! put together 3 of the most FANTASTIC arangements for my mothers retirement party!! i will be back again and again. it was the biggest selection of flowers i was able to find in town as well. i will from now on only recomend SAMMYS FLOWERS!!!! they are the BEST

I went to a wedding this weekend in washington and we've all been to a million weddings. The flowers at this one were absolutely amazing! All of the bridesmaids dresses were coral and it looked like Sammy's had a rose grown just to match their gowns! I knew Sammy's was good, but not that good!
Everywhere you went in this wedding there were such powerful colors and textures and everyone was talking about it. Bravo Sammy's Bravo!

Okay I used them; nice on the phone then they sent out flowers where a majority of them died the day they arrived, their response was to offer ?some store credit for next time" $90.00 on flowers where a third of them died in 8 hours. Go elsewhere they have bad service.

Sometimes it hurts to tell people about the best kept secret in town, because you dont want them to get to busy, but I have to say that they deserve to be busy. Dana and Hank are so creative and so professional. Dana comes to my house weekly and delivers the most amazing things, she also puts together deliveries for clients and referrals that always generate WOW factor phone calls.

Thanks Guys. Dont forget the little people (like me)

Fun, colorful flowers that even smell like flora...now that's living! There ARE cheaper places nearby that can punctuate your life with color, but Sammy's knows what it's doing, and will even do special orders. (Love those kermits.)

The Sammy's that I know is in the entrance of New Season's Market on Division, probably only a sample of what they can do. Every time I go in there I ogle at such beautiful flowers being at a supermarket! The people that work there are super nice too.

I read about Sammy's 10 years ago when I was thinking of moving to Portland. When I came out to look for work, I visited Sammy's and that was the exact moment I decided to move here. In the same way Audrey Hepburn loved Tiffany's, everything is always right in the world when I'm buying flowers at Sammy's. The selection, quality, service, display and values are great.

The flowers at Sammy's are priced like at the wholesale market, and I appreciate being able to hand select my own arrangements. The staff is cute and charming too.

Dinner parties, special occasions, home decor...whatever the need, I always think of and use Sammy's Flowers first. The location is ideal and the selection is always the best in the city. SF also has a wide selection of modern and simple vases that provide the perfect anchor for any bouquet. For weddings, they are consistently progressive and elegant. Before you buy at your local grocery store, take the time to buy quality and not convenience.
