I'd like to give them 5 stars but I can't as they do not make an authentic Philly Steak sandwich. If that's what you're looking for, I suggest you go to Philly! :) Although, the cheese steak sandwiches do have very good flavor, according

the service was slooooooow, i dont think the one girl they working was very good at multi-tasking, she would only cook one order at a time, she was really nice though. i got the chicken parm, bad idea, the chicken was incredibaly dry, almost as if it had been refrigerated for several days and re-heated, which i assume is the case, and there was hardly any chicken to speak of anyway, mostly bread. the three people i was with seemed pleased, but they all got cold sandwiches, thats kinda hard to screw up.....

Pros: manage to make a decent cold, sandwich nice chick cooking

Cons: slooooow service, overpriced, not enough meat, not fresh

I have eaten here on several occasions and have always enjoyed myself. I personally love the Chicken Cheese Steak, but the beef is also very good. The staff is always friendly and fast. The phillys are a good size and can only finish half, but that is okay, I eat the other half later. Great job and I will be back for more!

I've been eating at Philadelphia's since it first opened at it's original spot accross the street. The owner is a Philly native. The ingredients are as close as you can get. They go all out to get it right. Bonus, Tastycakes! hard to find them anywhere else.
The cheesesteaks are the bomb, gutbomb that is. I'd eat more of them, but my doctor made me cool it. Good variety of other hoagies. Good beer. Love the Betsy Ross. Service is good. Food is made fresh and cooked to order. Takes a little longer, but worth the wait. You can hangout at your liesure without feeling pressured. Prices are reasonable for what you get, which I find is stuffed.
All in all a great place to stop in, hangout, have a great sandwich and chase it with good beer.
Friends form Philly say it's the real deal. If you have kids, they'll be made to fell comfortable.

My daughter just loves this place! The staff is always so kind and gives her paper wrap to color on while we wait for our food. She must have half her wall covered with drawings from this place. The sandwiches are excelent! My little one usually gets the italian meatball with provolone, with the exception of a hot dog or philly when in the mood. The beer selection would probably be better at times if they could just keep it from selling out! I like the independent pale ale, but the blonde is a nice light treat as well! I still can't quite take a whole hogie down at once so I always have leftovers to take home. So anyone who could even try to complain about the portion sizes of these sandwiches must either have a gullbladder or obiesety problem! Prices are evenly fare considering what one would pay in a larger scale city, you totally get what you pay for!

Pros: 2 locations, fast service, friendly clean environment!

Cons: At busy times parking can be hard, and sometimes understaffed.

I have tried three different sandwiches and they were all bland and disappointing. I like the location, but the food is not worth the price tag and the portions were small.

From back east, visited Portland and locals told me to try Philadelphia's. I loved the decor, lots of history shots and oh yeah.. GOOD CHEESESTEAKS !.. Hard to get the right rolls out west, and could be packed w/more meat.. but darn close for sure ! I say Yo Philly; You did it !

This place has great taste, but hardly any f"illing" in the sandwich. Needs more meat so we don't go home hungry.

A Philly cheesesteak is so simple...steak, provolone, onions, and bread...yet it's so hard to find a good one outside of Philadelphia or New York. The key is the roll, which should be freshly baked and crispy. The rolls at this place are soft, chewy, and soggy. I'm definitely a cheesesteak snob and you might enjoy it if you're not expecting the real thing, but don't believe the other reviews that say this is just as good as something you'd get in South Philly. It's not close. And where's the Yuengling?

Cons: But not hard enough

Went there with my husband yesterday after reading these reviews. Staff was courteous. Food was well below average: bread stuck to our teeth, bread was soggy, meat was scarce and BLAND. For the size and thickness of the bread, there should have been more meat. Not even the onions were seasoned. Would not go back and would not recommend. If you want a good cheesesteak, go to Philly, somewhere in the northeast, or make it yourself. I make a mean cheesesteak I have been told and this did not make the cut. We were dissapointed at best, but not disgusted...

Pros: Nice staff, Parking

Cons: Cheesesteaks (one with onions and one with onions/mushroom)

Philadelphia's has great philly cheese steak. Awesome take out. Very friendly service. It's a perfect neighborhood hang out. Pretty good selection of beer...only down fall is no fries. But the sandwiches are huge and yummy.

This place isn't worth much of my time, so here ya go.
Overpriced. 7-8 dollars for pretty standard fare. None of the ingredients were top of the line.
Slow. Place was empty. I was only one in there about 3 in the afternoon. Stick took longer ten-fifteeninutes for a take-out order.
Bland. The places that operate out of shacks downtown have fresher food, better prices, and friendlier staff.
This place just doesn't care.

Cons: Uhh, where to begin?

Great east coast feel in Westmoreland. Hoagies are awesome and the micro selection huge. Parking is just OK but you cannot beat the location. Nice outside deck in the back.

I too have spent a lot of time in Philladelphia in the past and every once in a while get the craving for a good cheese steak. I have searched all over and this is about as close as you can get.

The buns are great they sort of stick to your mouth and are so soft. I agree more meat would make them be a little closer to the real thing but for a great cheesesteak here in the Portland area this is about as good as it gets.

Pros: Best one in town

The guy with the stand in pioneer square has them beat, but if you're not down with a sketchy guy making your cheese steak in Pioneer square then this is your spot. It's really good.

I love Philly's! These are the best steaks in the area hands down. I spent a lot of time in Philladelphia when i was in college and i have to say that Philly's has better steaks that half the places i tried back east! Try not to go during conventional dinner hours on weekends, because this place gets packed. the ppl that work there are really nice too!

There's something about a Philly cheesesteak that just doesn't taste the same anywhere else, but take it from a "Phiwy" native, these guys make a good cheesesteak. Sure I miss the "soup-nazi" style service at Pat's, but anyone who says these steaks aren't as good as half the sandwiches in PA is a mook.

OK, so I was not born in PA or in the Philadelphia area, but I was in the area a couple years back(2004) and I was only going to be able to go out one night for a cheese steak. The gentlemen that was driving asked us if we wanted to visit Pats or Genos or did we want to have the best cheese steak in town. Well we all wanted the best and he took us to a nice mom and pop place that had the most incredible cheese steak I have ever had. Phillys Cheese Steak is good but by no means is it comparable to an original cheese steak. First of all, I only needed one napkin to eat my sandwich and second it just was missing that added taste to the sandwich(which is probably why I only needed one napkin). All in all it was good, but definitely no the best.

I like this place for a meal while watching some game. My only problem is that they don't put enough meat in the sandwich. How can they call themselves Philadelphia's if they don't put the amount of meat in that makes Philadephia the fattest city in the US? They do have the extra meat option, but a sandwich shouldn't cost $8, especially a sandwich that is a slice of middle-class Americana. The beer specials work well with the food, and the atmosphere is typical Ptown laid-back. If they took some consulting tips from Michael's on Burnside about sandwich proportions this place would really be something else.

Philly's is the best sandwich place in Portland, as far as I'm concerned. My friends and I crave this place on a regular basis. The rolls are soft and fresh and the flavoring is just right. They have many different styles to select from and the service is great too. If you go on Mondays, I believe they still have half prices sandwiches from 6-8pm and after that, they have beer specials until close. $2 off a pint?? Can't remember but I'm going there tonight to check it out!

I've been told by a friend's dad (from Philly) that this is the best spot for philly sandwiches West of Pennslyvania.
We love them, great rolls ingredients and choices.
Slather mayo, mustard, katsup and tabasco on it and I am in hog heaven.
It is all about the sandwiches here, but the do have a fine selection of beer as well. Of course.

OK, having just been to Philadelphia last week (the city in PA, that is!) for the first time ever, for the exclusive purpose of eating "the original cheesesteaks" (we tried 3 different places, including the famous originators of the cheesesteak -- Pat's and Geno's in South Philly), I have come to the conclusion that Portland's own Philadelphia's is far better! Cheesesteaks here are cooked to order (unlike the Philly landmarks) and served on beautifully soft, chewy rolls. I would eat here weekly if only I lived closer!
