This is the best yoga studio for me. Why? The instructors are exceptional - thoroughly trained in the Iyengar method; extremely knowledgeable and dedicated; warm and welcoming. Yoga is a journey, and these instructors are on that journey themselves and love sharing their enthusiasm and expertise with students of all levels. The studio has a wonderful ambiance - soft yellow walls and bamboo floors - very pleasant place to be and to learn yoga.

Of course, the teaching staff is wonderful; and I would like to shout out to the other students. This is the first class I've been in where the fellow students made me feel so welcome. Several people came forward to explain what supports to get or what the instructor intended. Everyone helped put things away. Hooray for the inclusive! No yoga snobs here! I'm looking forward to my next class at Sunset Yoga Center!

Sunset Yoga Center is a place to reap the benefits of exercise and so much more. Come as you are, be who you are, and you can grow in all aspects of life. Judgement and expectations are left outside as instructors honor your strengths and your areas of growth. Their fine attention to your needs creates a safe environment to extend yourself within your own boundaries of safety and wellness. This attitude passes on to students as each person focuses on their own work and competition is left outside. Don't worry if you can't touch your toes or twist like a pretzel. Your instructors will guide you to know that Iyenger yoga is not about that. It is all about being and doing as you can on that day during that class. So come experience the nurturing atmosphere to let go of who you thought you were and begin a new journey for your own personal exercise and growth.\r\n\r\n

After taking yoga classes off and on for the past 10 years, and sampling different studios whenever I travel, I feel confident in recommending Sunset Yoga Studio. Iyengar yoga has helped me build a strong foundation so that I can practice safely in other classes, where the instructors aren't as adept at modifying poses or pointing out the proper way to do things to avoid injury.\n\nIf you are looking for a hot, sweaty yoga class that doesn't ask you to think, you probably won't like this style of yoga?at least not at first. I didn't either. But after trying every other studio on the west side, I decided to stick with SYC because the teachers are that good and that dedicated. Eventually I began to appreciate the thoughtful classes and how we approach poses from a variety of angles. Plus, I like the fact that each class is different (and you can feel comfortable not being skinny or wearing the trendiest yoga clothes). Now whenever I take a vinyasa class, there's always the little ""Iyengar voice"" in my head, reminding me to lengthen my spine or distribute my weight evenly. Thank you, Sunset Yoga!

I tried a free intro class at Sunset almost two years and found a yoga ""home."" The instructors are welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable, and dedicated students of Iyengar yoga themselves. If you have never tried yoga, or if you have years of practice, there is something here for you, maybe even in the same class! Come as you are, the instructors have experience with all ages, shapes, sizes, and special needs.\n\nI'm looking forward to trying a weekend workshop soon! Sunset also gives back to the community, occasionally offering a class from which proceeds go a good cause.\n\nThe studio is very conveniently located right off Hwy 26 and near Sunset TC. It's been great to have the option of taking the Max with a short walk to class!

Sunset Yoga Studio started as a small studio in Cedar Mill and quickly became ""the"" studio for all students of all levels and backgrounds. The teachers at the studio have been thouroughly trained and are extremely adept at meeting each students needs. The studio offers tranquil, centered practices that allows each student to learn at their own pace based on their unique physical design. What more could be said about a place you can go to and feel good about your body? :-)

The teachers at Sunset Yoga are awesome. They are always taking workshops and doing teacher trainings to keep their skills up. Nina Pileggi, the owner, brings in awesome teachers from all over to do workshops - Janet MacLeod and Rebecca Lerner to name a few. Check them out - you'll be happy you did.\r\n\r\nMetta.\r\n\r\nLove,\r\n\r\npaul

There has been a proliferation of yoga studios over the past several years, but few of them offer the caliber of instruction I've found at Sunset Yoga. I'm impressed by the highly qualified teachers, trained in the Iyengar tradition and offering a high degree of personal support as we students progress at our own rate. Also love the ambiance of the studio--bamboo floors, lots of natural light, and a wall of windows looking out at a courtyard style northwest garden.

Pros: qualified instructors, ambiance, lots of free parking
