Used to live in walking distance to this restaurant. Their Pineapple chicken curry is out of this world. I would be willing to drive from Scappoose to NEP for it (now that we aren't in the neighborhood anymore). YUMMY!

Thai Noon is delicious and if you visit during lunchtime you will get a big meal at a small price. Their food is yummy everytime, when you ask for spicy is definitely is (which i love) and they are quick.

Try it!

Pros: Consistently good food

Cons: None that I can think of

Slightly different Thai food than the usual, have had both very good things and some misses. But overall, worth the risk. Drinks are delicious also, and if there is a wait on the restaurant side, you can usually get an actual table in the bar.

The food was cold and when it finally came the waiter almost threw it at us. We were over charged and charged for dishes that we didn't order and the "manager" refused to refund our card.

I love thai food and its so nice to have several right around my house but Thai noon makes me sick every time. Several of our friends have stopped eating there for the same reason. And its dirty.
broken dishes poor service I can put up with but the food is not safe.

I ordered Thai food the week before but told the waiter that the food needed to be MILD becaue I will get sick if it has any spice whatsoever. The food arrived perfect!! It was absolutely the best that I've had in a long time. So my next day off I came in for some to go. I ordered it as before - MILD - no spices. This was a different waiter then previous so I explained and made sure he wrote down my order correctly because when I was talking to him I noticed he wasn't paying attention but just kept looking around the room. Got it home, took a bite and my mouth just about went on fire. That night the weather was cold, rainy and windy and I'm on a bicycle. I called the restaurant and asked for the Manager. It was the same guy who took my order. I explained and he asked me to bring the food back. I told him I was on a bike (which he already knew) and that I was now SICK from the food. He told me that was too bad but there was nothing he could do. I actually had to threaten to dispute the credit card charges if he didn't tear up the slip. What got me is how little he cared. He told me if I didn't like spicy I shouldn't eat Thai food. Suffice to say, I will be disputing the credit card charge even though I took the food back the following day.

Pros: They can serve your order correct but they're NOT consistent

Cons: Order wrong - I got sick - brought food back next day and he still wouldn't refund money

I have been going to Thai Noon for about 5 years now and even though I moved out of the area I continue to go. I eat a lot of Thai and this is definitely one of the top couple in a city that has tons of Thai places. I have had every dish many times and still never get tired of it. When you come here you can count on a great meal at a very reasonable price. Its one of those staple places for people who eat out a lot. Try the Catfish or the Pad Thai. The owners and staff are also very pleasant.

Pros: Great Food, Low prices but not cheap ingredients, friendly staff

Cons: Its a small local place, no chandaliers and cherry wood everywhere but who needs that?

Flavorful dishes, and not afraid of some spice -- this is not our neighborhood Thai restaurant, but worth the drive. The best Cashew Nut Chicken in town!

We've eaten at Thai Noon in the past and enjoyed it. But recently we had take out and it was terrible. The panang curry was flavorless and watery. The spicy beans were greasy and overcooked. With so many great Thai options in town, we won't go back.

This is a cute little place, and I like the garage door being open on a sunny day, but I found the food pretty average. I think a little bit better food can be found at One Thai, just a block away from Thai Noon, in a town that has a lot of thai restaurants, there are far better alternatives. (or of course Siam Society, with really fantastic food if you're in the mood for something fancier)

I am a lover of thai cuisine and recently moved to Portland. This is the only Thai restaurant I've been to in Portland, however, I've been a number of times. My experiences have been very mixed.

The first time, the food was wonderful. I went with a large group, ordering various dishes to share. I'm not sure I would label it as overly authentic though; many of the dishes tasted very similar, particularly the curries, and each was much sweeter than I am used to. The taste was slightly less complex. I've been there a few times since and have noticed the same thing.

As was noted before, the waitstaff is less than professional and sometimes downright rude. However, I should also note that I have noticed that to be much more common in Portland than anywhere else I've ever been (San Diego, LA, NY, Japan, Europe, etc.) The first time I went with the group, our waiter, a tall red-bearded man, listened in on our conversation much of the time and at one point entered into it. I think he meant well though. The last time, however, a much grumpier Thai waitress seemed as if she was trying not to serve us. When I finally got her attention and asked for more rice, she came back with a bowl only about a quarter full for three people and half a curry. "You only want a little right?" she said shortly and plopped the bowl down on the table as she walked away.

All in all, the food here is yummy, though quite average as Thai food in America goes in my opinion. After my last experience, I will definitely try other places in Portland before going back.

Pros: Cheap if you split dishes

Cons: Hit-or-miss service

I am only seeing reviews from 2003 until 2006 on this site. Why no recent reviews? I wouldn't
recommend it to anyone, since I spent the whole evening and night sick after eating there. Sure the food can be good sometimes, when you get what you ordered, the way you ordered it, and when the wait staff isn't giggling and pointing when you place a food order to accomodate a food allergy you have. Then bring the dish WITH the item you have an allergy to. Very unprofessional service, for a restaurant that get's such high ratings. Won't be back, and we were "regulars".

This is by far the BEST thai food restaurant on Alberta - and there are several. We have been a fan of Thai Noon since it opended. The food is fresh and prepared at the time of order. The service is very friendly and makes it a point to remember you as well as your favorite dishes. Noon (the co-owner) is always pleasant and greets you with the warmest smile! We LOVE to try new restaurants but for Thai food - we are die hard "Thai Noon" fans that are never quite satisfied anywhere else!!

decent food- mostly good service, but one waiter was quite rude. He did not take our order, but brought us our food. The waiter who took our order made a mistake and wrte down the wrong number for the dish I ordered. The second waiter who brought us our food was very rude and acted like it was my fault, and then was completely ungracious and unapperciative when I offered to take the wrong dish that I hadn't ordered. He never smiled, never thanked me, charged full price for the dish, and then disappeared and never helped our table again. His behaviour was very odd, and surrounded by a friendly staff who was trying to provide us with a pleasant dining experience, it seemed even more out of place. He does not represent the restaurant well, and left me with a sour taste in my mouth.

Fresh food fast. This restaurant has soon become one of my favorites. The service is quick & friendly, the food fantastic! The drunken noodles is one of the best I've ever had, lots of veggies with lick-a-licious sauce clinging to scrumptious fat noodles. Creative drink choices too. Give it a try, you won't be sorry.

This restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere and is especially welcoming on a nice day when they open the garage doors and it becomes a more open venue with additional outdoor seating. It is decorated with cheery bright colors and is child friendly though there is no kids menu. The portions are large and the prices are very reasonable.

I've never eaten Thai food as good as my mom's...however, this place is pretty good. My hubby judges Thai restaurants by their red curry, and he loved it at Thai Noon. The flavor was great and had just the right amount of spice. We also ordered the BBQ chicken and fried fish cakes. They were good, brought back memories of my summer vacations.

I've been eating and loving Thai food for years now, since I was a girl and my mom's friend (who is Thai) opened a restaurant and had us over as her testers of every new dish! This is my favorite now. I love the sweetness of the Pad Thai, normally, I have to add the lime to give it that extra punch or because the noodles are too dry, but this was perfect. My husband loved it because he is a chili fanatic and it was spicy enough for him (he always order "Thai hot"). We lived in New Mexico, so developed a taste for the heat!

I have eaten in nearly every Thai restaurant in Portland (and visited Thailand a number of times) and this place is hands down the best!!! There is no question - if you are looking for fresh, healthy, real-tasting thai food without all the fluff and nonsense of high end eateries...this is the place. I would rate it as one of the best Thai restaurants I have ever eaten at.

This out-of-the-way location was recommended by a friend of mine who was lost in the area one weekend. What a lucky find!

The food is amazing. Great, great, really great flavors. Watch out though, when they say spicy they really mean SPICY!! The chicken with cashews was absolutely the best thing we ordered. Nearly as tastey was the special curry with pumpkin. The staff was friendly and the prices what you'd expect from a mid-range thai place.

Believe it or not, you'll actually get a plate of veggies with a little rice at Thai Noon! Nice to see them embracing greenery unlike so many other Thai restaurants. Their lunch menu can't be beat for the value and quality. This is my new favorite lunch spot. Come one, come all. This place rocks!

Since moving to the N.E. I have had the pleasure of eating at Thai Noon in excess of Twenty times.
I lived and worked in Thailand for three years, and this is by far the closest thing I've had to real Thai food here in the U.S.
In the beginning the consistency wasn't always there, but the staff and owner bent over backwards to make it right. I don't know what this BigMickey did, but on two seperate occassions we had mistakes on our orders. One time the manager gave me a free voucher for a mistake on take out, and another time the owner comped the entire dinner for me and two friends because it took so long, and I'm not even cute, I'm a big fat guy!!

Being a resident of Hillsboro, and being a Thai food fanatic does not go together. I am always searching for new Thai Restaurants, and hope to not have to drive to far. On a tip from a reliable Thai Food Critic I made the 45 minute trip to NE Portland to try Thai Noon Restaurant, and I owe my friend big time, This place is incredible. It's not in my backyard, but they can be sure they will see me again.

You gotta try the Tom Yum soup, it reminded me of my trip to Thailand and brought back some great memories. This is what food is meant to do, and this place does all that and then some.

Alberta street has needed an alternative place to eat for a Loooonnnnggg time, and Thai Noon has filled the void. We are not only lucky to have a thai restaurant in our neighborhood, but sooooo lucky to have one with such great food.

I have been eating there rugularly for more than two months now, and often take friends to check it out. Everyone I have turned on so far has gone back within a week, so this place is doing something right. The service was a little lacking in the beginning, but has improved 110% since I have been going, and where else can you find a thai restaurant that plays good music?

Thanks Thai Noon for taking good care of Alberta Street.

When Thai Noon opened, I was thrilled. The first time I went for lunch about 2 weeks after they opened. I had the best Pad Thai I've ever had. It was the perfect combination of sweet, sour, salty & spicy! My dining companion got a Tom Ka Gai (chicken/coconut milk soup) that was fantastic. I'm not a coconut milk fan but I had to have my own bowl. Sadly, this was my last good experience. Since then, I've ordered twice for take out. The Pad Thai has never been the same. I have ordered it at least 3 times & every single time, it's different. The rest of the items have been passable but nothing nearly as stellar as our first visit. I think they have potential & the owner seems very nice. However, the inconsistency of the food & the service will surely make them short-lived on Alberta Street.

Let me start by saying that I love Thai food! I'm a huge fan..and the food at Thai noon is GREAT! HOWEVER, the service is not. The staff should do their homework about the cuisine they are serving. Jobs are hard to come by in PDX right now, and it stinks that such a potentially wonderful little spot has to hire unknowledgeable staff. Servers should honor the cuisine/culture they are representing by actually attempting to care about it. T.N; HIRE SOME TALENT!!!!!!

Since opening two months ago I have eaten at Thai Noon at least 10 times. The food is consistently fresh and incredibly tasty, and the service is acceptable for a new place. Great service on Alberta is hard to find. With all of that, said I was never inspired to write a review until what I saw last night.

A customer came for take out and was apparently handed a bad without everything in it. When the owner realized this he didn't shrug it off and say "Oh well, they'll be back", he got in his car and drove around to find the person. He returned about 10 minutes later, and when we asked if he found them he simply replied, "Another satisfied customer". This guy knows what customer service is all about.

Since opening two months ago I have eaten at Thai Noon at least 10 times. The food is consistently fresh and incredibly tasty, and the service is acceptable for a new place. Great service on Alberta is hard to find. With all of that, said I was never inspired to write a review until what I saw last night.

Pros: Fresh, Consistent, Customer Service

Cons: Limited Seating, No Reservations

I've traveled extensively in Thailand. When home, I crave REAL Thai cooking. Unfortunately, most restaurants on this side of the Pacific "dumb down" their cooking for American tastes.

Thai Noon is an exception, with some of the most authentic Thai cooking around. Pad Se-Eiw and Ginger Lovely are two favorites. They also make fantastic Som Tum (green papya salad), a staple Thai dish most Portland restaurants don't have on the menu!

I've eaten here weekly since they opened. Cooking has become more consistent; service and wait time have improved tremendously. Very reasonable prices, especially the lunch specials. Crowds during the dinner hours can make it hard to get a table. I recommend calling ahead to verify how busy they are.

Thai Noon filled a needed niche in the Alberta neighborhood. Even better if they stayed open into the wee hours of the morning. Curry at 2:30 am? Sign me up!

I ordered take out from Thai Noon after reading the Editorial Review here on Citysearch. It's in my neighborhood so I decided to order take out. I called and ordered three side dishes and an app. I asked how long it would be and they said 20 - 30 minutes. I gave them plenty of time, showing up about 40 minutes later. I didn't get my food until it had been an hour and ten minutes. The staff blamed a "rush" (on a Monday night). I was very disappointed that the staff was so unorganized. The order that I got wasn't even right (even though they had obviously cooked it after the "rush"). I got three chicken dishes even though I had ordered a vegetarian Pad Thai, a pork dish and only one chicken dish. Sigh.

These are huge! A must have unique dish. You will find all of the dishes truly Thai. My mouth thought that I was back in Asia.
