.

Took my boat motor in to have it rebuilt after the top cylinder blew. They rebuilt the motor, replaced the black box, rebuilt the carb, etc. I got it back and it seemed to run rough. The explanation was that it was probably the 25:1 fuel mixture being used during the break-in period.

First time out after the break-in period, the top cylinder blew again at 4000 rpm. Turned out to be the exact same type of failure.

Took the motor back in and they had it for over 4 months. I finally got it back and they charged me for parts to rebuild it even though I hardly had run the motor 5 hours since the first rebuild.

First time into the water and I could hear the engine running rough and what seemed to be a sparking sound. I opened up the cowling and could clearly see a spark jumping from the coil to the ground. Their answer was that it was a cracked coil. Being that they had replaced the #1 coil - figuring that must have been the initial problem, I had them send me the #2&3 coils.

Put it in the water - same problem. I called them and their response was that they had already spent too much time on it and I would have to pay them for any more work they did trying to find the problem or I could find another mechanic. Gee - I would really like to pay them more money to not find the problem they couldn't find twice already.

So if you are looking for a shop to fix your motor, take it to this shop if you know exactly what is wrong with the motor, and you are ready to tell them exactly which parts to replace in order to prevent the problem you took it in there for from happening again, and want to be without your boat for 4 months while the mechanic goes fishing, and expect to get a boat back that still doesn't run.

I am absolutely stunned by the lack of professional pride and integrity demonstrated by this business.

Pros: I'm trying... nope - can't think of anything.

Cons: Slow, Can't diagnose, won't stand behind work, poor wiring quality.
