I USED to rent at this video store all the time. The employees became friends of mine and I always felt that they were under appreciated. One thing I thought was particularly ridiculous is that it seems they were expected to do TWO jobs, there being a gym on the other side of the store. That's gotta be a joke! How could they be "independent and progressive" if they don't even pay their employees a living wage or order old (harder to find) movies for their store? The owners are hacks that clearly don't care about this community and are just out to make a buck.

Pros: Some staff is knowledgable and friendly.

Cons: Ownership is pitiful and completely embarrassing.

The selection is great and I love to read the reviews the employees
place on the movies. The employees are super nice and very understanding about late movies. I like the neighborhood feeling.

Yeah, try about five. I have no idea if the chip on the shoulders of a few male employees have to do with if they are personally mad at every late fee, or just hate the world. At first I thought I was just imagining things, but after my last visit, I know I'm not. Not only did the last guy not say a word after taking my debit card, completing the transaction, and finally walking over and handing my friend our movie, he full-on glared at us. And he hasn't been the only one to be so rude, not by a long shot.
Seeing as how I pay off every late fee and am just a nice little lady renting regular things, I did not deserve this treatment at any time. I am not going back to this location, and neither are my friends.

First it was Video Chest, now it is Videorama and everything seems to still be run the same. Videorama has a huge assortment of videos, things you won't be able to find at any huge retail chain. They have the entire video selection in a computer so if you only know the name of an actor, you can ask them what movies that actor was in and they will be able to help you. There's a very friendly staff and they are quick and courteous. The store is always very clean and the staff is constantly cleaning up everything, even when there isn't a speck on the floor or on the counters. This is the best video store I have ever gone to and they have a repeat customer in me.

PROS: friendly, quick and professional, high knowledge
CONS:

If you didn't think a video store other than Blockbuster and Hollywood existed anymore, you'd be right -- almost. Videorama is one of the few notable independents left, and it's located right in the heart of the Pearl for easy access. Rentals are five days, and they carry everything from art films to the latest, um, blockbusters.

This is the video store that has outlasted all the other chain stores. While it is still standing the selection is limited and sub-par. They do have some obscure videos, which definetly fits a niche of people.

Regular, run of the mill video rental store. Offers a lot of new and vintage titles, including staff favorites and a section dedicated to cult hits of the days past. Staff could be friendlier and more helpful, but it isnt too difficult to navigate around the small storefront. Videos typically rent for 5 days.

I miss living near Videorama. The staff is super nice, and I like the way the store itself is organized. They have a good mix of standard new releases, and the less common items.
