Nikki G does great work! She gave me a really nice and wearable cut and highlight that still looks great even a month after our original appointment. I sent my boyfriend to her and she gave him the best cut he's ever had. We'll both be

I've been to Rudy's plenty of times in the last few years. It's convenient and cheap enough.

I went in this afternoon for a shape up. The stylist did an ok job, but took only 5 minutes and didn't ask questions or give me an opportunity

I asked for a trim - just an 1/8 inch off. I got a new style, much shorter and not one I like. Nothing was said by the stylist that she wasn't capable of doing my regular cut. Thank havens they aren't surgeons. With time, it will grow

The stylist was a bit too chatty but really nice. She was helpful and the exact haircut I was looking for. I would definitely recommend this place.

I love Rudy's. I have had many haircuts and once colored my hair there and they are professional and thorough. Will definitely go back!

Angela Chan is sorely missed by her Sacramento clients. She comes up with new and clever styles for even her most conservative clients. She keeps you out of the hair rut and keeps you away from dated looking style.

I wish Portland was closer.

Pros: Creative, inventive

.

I went in and got a cut and color from Angela Chan. My only specification was "not too short". She did a wonderful job! She has the great ability to visualize which cut and colorings will look good with your face and skin tone, something I've had a hard time finding in other stylists. Rudy's has a great vibe, Angela did a great job and I'll definitely be back!

I have very thick, curly hair, that i wear both curly and straight. Having curly hair often makes for terrible haircuts and after a few of those (especially at Bishops), a friend recommended Rudy's. I got there at opening and was 6th in line. There were enough stylists that i was seated immediately. I told Leanne of my worries with my hair and that i wanted it short but was very nervous about it. She gave me her opinion and talked me through what she thought would look best and why. . I felt totally reassured. She did the cut and it turned out as she had said. My hair turned out great. I have gotten so many compliments on my bobbed curly hair.
and to boot, she was super friendly and personable.

Angela Chan was my stylist in Sacramento and in a word, she rocks. I can only to speak to guy-cuts but she was the best I ever had down here and she is sorely missed. I may even travel up there just for a cut!

Pros: Sacramento's Finest - in Portland

Cons: None

I've been a client at both the Pearl abd Division locations for over 3 years. When my regular stylist moved out of state, he referred me on to an another equally good stylist. I've never had a bad contact or experience at Rudy's with any staff member...and when I have left a voice mail, I've always gotten a return call. I am a loyal customer because they've earned it from my first visit through today...when I have an "appointment".
When I have waited, it's never been more than a few moments and I enjoyn watching others work and have even gotten ideas for something new.
So, kudos to Rudy's and staff and for the few negative comments....get over it!

Pros: Salon with attitude, stylists with personality

Cons: Same day calling for appointments

That review about the Rudy's manager is vile, ridiculous, and tacky. If what they claim is the truth then why is there such a LOW stylist overturn? The majority of stylists working at Rudy's have been there since both Portland shops opened. She must be doing something right! Sounds like the nasty review was nothing but a personal slander.....childish and cowardly to post something so demeaning on this site.

I've had two haircuts here. The prices are great, the room is cool and the stylists are really nice. The problems I encounted, though, came with my haircuts. Both were totally uninspired, boring cuts. The stylists seemed determined to make my hair as flat as possible. I guess you get what you pay for...or if you want an easy trim or short cut, this is your place.

I've been seeing Ryann at Rudy's for a year now, love her cuts and was SOOOO SAD when I called today and heard she wasn't cutting anymore, I googled her name though and found out she's cutting at a new spot downtown where you can call and make appointments! Her new spot is called 220 Salon, the phone number to call and make an appointment with her is (503) 295-0726. Rudy's is still one of my favorite spots in pdx to get a quality quick cut but I love ryann's cuts too.

I tried to get a cut & color at this Rudy's location. First off, they don't make appointments. I called on a Friday night and was told I couldn't make an appointment, not for the next day, next week, nothing, and that they definitely couldn't see me that night. It was suggested that I call back Saturday morning at 9 and ask to be "put on the list." I called at 9:30, 9:45 and at 10:00 and NO ONE EVEN ANSWERED THE PHONE. It went to an answering machine, and the answering machine basically says that they don't check the messages often so if you're calling to be put on the list, don't leave a message. I couldn't speak to a person and I couldn't leave a message, either! I called back at 1:45 and finally got a person. The receptionist put me "on hold," by which she meant she put the phone down somewhere near her, and I could hear everything she was saying to one of the stylists and apparently a customer whose card was declined but "looked fabulous." Three minutes later, she finally picked the phone up and apologized for leaving me on hold "forever." I asked to be put on the list. She said that they were really busy, looking at an hour-and-a-half wait, and that they don't put names on the list from over the phone when they're busy. ?!?!? What's the point? Evidently, the only way to get service is to just drop in and take your chances that the wait is going to be over an hour... I used to go here for regular trims, but after this experience, I'm just going to go to Supercuts where they'll see you when they say they will.

Pros: Good music

Cons: Don't take appointments, long waits, prima donna attitude

.

Always a great experience at Rudy's- the staff is friendly, the prices are more than fair and the stylists are talented and attentive. If you have to wait a little while, the magazine selection is more than entertaining enough to make 15 minutes fly by. Ask for Scott (SE location)- from regular cuts to professional colors, he has the full arsinal... and he's a lot of fun too! My girlfriend and I both go to him and have recommended many others who have been extremely happy. I couldn't recommend these guys enough!

Pros: Cool neighborhood, easy parking (SE), nice teets in the bathroom!

Cons: parking not so easy in the Pearl

I visited Rudy's for a cut a couple times in Seattle, before they opened up shop in Portland. I was so happy to see them expand south. And years later, I'm still happy. I've taken our two-year-old to Rudy's for his first two haircuts. And it was a wonderful experience. Rudy's is tops.

I absolutely hate getting my hair cut. As I guy with thick curly and sometimes unruly hair, I tend to postpone getting a trim rather than have my hair butchered. That is, until I found Rudy's. I had previously tried Bishops on Hawthorne and found them wildly inconsistent with the quality of their cuts. The two shops get compared and on the surface you can see why: both are something akin to a theme barbershop - with random pictures plastered on the walls and hip attractive stylists but the surface similarities soon end. While Bishops can be loud and rude and maybe just a little pretentious, Rudy's is much more relaxed and overall a higher quality experience. I have gone to three different stylists and they have all been friendly and helpful and most important, they have given me the best haircuts of my life. They truly are well-trained at Rudy's and they understand how to cut hair - how to cut MY hair - which was a totally new experience for me. They take care and time working on you, use high quality products (Bumble&Bumble) and their cuts grow out fantastically. They also don't pressure you with sales pitch about how you need this curl cream or buy this conditioner. The environment feels like a old-fashioned barbershop with its rough unfinished wood floors and simple style but it still manages to be cool and hip. So it's a little like that barbershop your grandfather took you to as a kid to get a trim, if that barbershop was staffed by tattooed hotties and gently played elliot smith and pixies over the speakers. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Pros: Ambience, Service, Amenities, Value, Knowledgeable Staff, They sell Cigarettes at their counter.

Cons: Neighborhood Parking. Prices recently went up a couple of bucks, but it's still worth it.

Last time I got a haircut I went to some old timey barbershop and they did a really bad job. So next time I decided to do some research before going to any old place. I read some reviews and decided to try Rudy's, I was not disappointed. I got probably one of the best cuts I've ever had, I just have a relatively simple guys haircut, but I was really happy with what the stylist did. She was also very friendly and outgoing with me, said she really liked working there too. The shop itself has a nice atmosphere too, very welcoming, casual and comfortable, yet clean, professional and pleasing to the eye. It's also nice that they have late hours. I paid $17 for a men's cut, which is a little more than I've paid in the past, but compared to other prices in the area and the level of service and quality I got I think it's a great deal. Planning to go back shortly.

I go to Vinnie at Rudy's Barbershop every three to four months. He has been cutting and dying my hair for 3 years now! He does an awesome job and always gives me the results I am looking for. Always knows what I want. He is funny and very easy to talk to. The staff is very friendly. They carry awesome, professional products for your hair. They are a funky-cool environment and great music. Love it! I would suggest this place to anybody who is looking for reasonable prices for a great cut/color!!

I got the best haircut I've ever had in my life today by Ryann at Rudy's on Division. She was friendly, easy to talk with, and really took her time to make sure I was happy with the end product. She was also very informative, but not pushy with buying hair products. I must admit the customer service and the cuts I usually get here have just been mediocre, but I was more than pleasantly surprised with my experience today. You'll walk out feeling like you just got a $100 haircut.

Rudy's Barber Shop also has a Pearl District location ( 212 NW 13th Ave. - 503.525.2900 )

I've tried them all... old school barbers, even Bishops (the worst haircut I EVER got - I think the "barbers" are drinking that awful beer they serve!) I finaly went to Rudy's in the pearl and got the perfect haircut. They actually listen to you when they ask you what you want - and do it exactly they way you asked. They also cary the awesome Bumble & Bumble line of hair products. I Highly recomend trying them out.

I am so happy to have found a stylist who actually listens to my ideas for my hair and then ASKS QUESTIONS about why I want that. She is a true artist when it comes to cutting hair and she takes a good amount of time getting the style exactly right. Rudy's may be known as a chop house, but not when you get the kind of service I have been getting from Vanessa. I've saved literally $100 on my cut-and-color from the other salon I used to go to.

I had the worst experience ever at Rudy's. The customer service was terrible. What's up with the attitude? The hair cut was ok, but the color? I've could of did a better job with a box color from the store. I don't reccomend going there at all.

I needed a haircut badly, but didn't want to spend much, as I see my funds dwindling already in my first semester of college. I saw Rudy's and I remembered reading of them on Citysearch. I got a great haircut from Vanessa for only $17. She even spent extra time to make sure that I got what I wanted.
I would highly highly recommend them.

I was looking for a cool, trendy place to get my hair cut for graduation, and I was recommeded to go to Rudy's. I went there and got the perfect haircut that I had been looking for. The woman that helped me was very helpful and knowledgable and it was very inexpensive! The receptionist even held a reservation for us as we were driving there. The only downside was the lack of parking, but in SE Portland, what can you expect? I strongly recommed going here rather than those $45+ haircut places!
