We live in the area, and I've been to Perry's at least a dozen times. Although the food is passable and the space is nice, the prices aren't at all in line with the overall quality. We always feel like we've paid about 25% too much for

Great atmosphere, large dining area, open kitchen (but not visible from our seats), extraordinarily tasty food. Service was friendly, professional, and fast. I think we were seated by an owner (very friendly man), and there seemed to be a lot of 'regulars' there who knew him. It looks like there is a large outdoor seating area, which would be gorgeous on a summer day.
The polenta fries with mole sauce were delicious (a little on the crispy side, but how else would you make them structurally sound?).
I had the prawn, sun-dried tomato, bacon, mushroom risotto, which was out-of-this-world tasty. Our group also had the fisherwoman's stew (fantastic!), the marinara/cheese/spaghetti squash stuffed acorn squash, and the pot pie, and everyone loved their dishes.
The desserts rival Papa Hayden (without being 4 pages long), and were great as well.
We eat out a LOT, all over Portland, and this is a new favorite for us.

Have yet to actually eat there. I have eaten their chicken pot pie and it is the best I've ever had. The crust perfectly flakey and filled with chicken and potatoes. I can't wait to have it again.

We were unsure what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. Large, airy dining room and lots of outdoor seating. The menu was very varied and has something for everyone. Huge portions! Desserts were beautiful but were massive. Great value. Only downside was the sketchy service; our waitress was overly familiar and made inappropriate comments about what we ordered, she also forgot to bring various items that we had to remind her about. Will definitely try this place again, though.

I eat out a lot and I have never had a bad meat at 'Perry's.' There is nothing on this menu that is not excellent!

A great surprise. A bit of a wait is well worth it since the dishes look and taste like they were prepared just now for me rather than by the batch earlier in the day to just be warmed. Consistency in quality has been impressive. Desserts are rich and varied and seem homemade.
Portions are big enough to take home the leftovers for a snack. The staff do well with all they juggle and provide personal service and check back to make sure everything is OK. This owners and staff circulate in an easy going way rather than some snooty fru fru affair. We have been served several times by Ruby who is a star - friendly with a good sense of humor who has made suggestions in a way that is appreciated. An outdoor seating area in a garden setting expands the dining options in good weather. Prices are very reasonable.

I live in the Pearl where there is no shortage of good restaurants. I wanted to try something new, so I went to Perry's. The menu has a wide range for all tastes. The Halibut was the best I ever had. The food didn't appear instantly, but arrived hot and fresh. The server was great, and the place has a real ambience. I'll be back with my friends. Dr. Rick

As a local to the neighborhood, we love to eat in and around our "digs". We tried Perry's almost 3 years ago and thought it was mediocre (at best) as well as way overpriced. Well, unfortunately, we gave it another try and this is what has prompted this review. It is really TOO bad that such a wonderful location has such a terrible restaurant taking up so much space. The menu is all over the place, the food, while I think it has potential, is completely underminded by the unprofessional waitstaff and slow service. All in all, we took some out of town friends here and ended up completely embarrassed by our choice of venues after having bragged about the amazing restaurants in our neighborhood. Take advantage of the other amazing restaurants in Portland- Perry's leaves A LOT to be desired.

I live fairly close to this restaurant though it is not on my list of places to go. I've eaten there several times over the years but nothing about it was special enough for me to want to make it a regular destination. The service was a bit snooty and I never hear anyone talk about this restaurant like I do about so many other places nearby. It's an ok place, give it a try you might like it better than I do.

The food, service and atmosphere is always great. This is where we go for special occasions, when you want to enjoy the company you are with in a relaxing atmosphere. Price is more than acceptable for what you get. This is not a chain restaurant, the wait staff doesn't wear buttons informing you they have a special on ribs. The desserts are wonderful. I am going there tonight, and can't wait.

My friends and I were a slightly concerned about taking their 2 year old to such an "adult" restaurant, and were pleasantly thrilled at the lovely manner in which the waitresses charmed and amused our little friend with books to read and a generally friendly presence. It was a completely delightful experience, the desserts were wonderful, and the service was perfect. Well done, Perry's!

As a kid my parents took us out to Perry's quite a bit. All I remember from then was an abundance of interesting masks and yummy food. Recently, my boyfriend and I happened to drive past Perry's and decided to stop by. It was wonderful! The service was astonishing, the food was good and the ambiance was warm and inviting. But our dessert is what stole the show. I ordered a slice of black and white raspberry swirl cake, the thing was immaculate! I've never had a hunk of cake that large and that good. The only downside was the cost, nearly $8.00 for a slice of cake. My entree was pretty pricey as well. If you're a young, poor, college hooligan like myself Perry's may seem out of the question, but save your pennies, its worth it!

The food was well prepared, and our waitress was fantastic. The prices, however, were ludicrous. I had a warm salad minus the chicken, and paid almost $15.00. A bit steep for my taste. But, if price isn't an issue, this is a great place to meet up with friends, have a good meal, and enjoy the delicious desserts. (More healthy vegetarian options would be great!)

I felt comfortable eating here and the food was great. I had one of their burgers with the hand-made fries and was delighted with the meal. I'll have to try their dessert sometime, as I was too full the last time to pack anything more in. I like the atmosphere and all of the artsy decor they have up. I recommend this restaurant as a affordable dining experience.

We've been here a couple times and I'll have to say, they're doing a good job. Ecclectic menu but the food is very good. Despite other reviews, it is NOT overpriced-prices are average/typical. Last time I enjoyed the risotto and my partner enjoyed the salmon special. They do a good job.No problem with service either.

The ambience of Perry's is really romantic and relaxing. You should try a BIG slice of their Pies. My friend had creme brulee and I had incredibly appealing-looking strawberry chocolate pudding pie. My friend liked his creme brulee a lot, but my strawberry choco. pudding pie was just ok. This pie looked SOOO good but the strawberries were not fresh enough. Maybe it was just once they had not-fresh strawberry for that pie, but I was a little disappointed. However, their dessert was reasonably priced and the Service was VERY GOOD.
If you have a date, you should go Perry's for dessert.

When you walk in to Perrys i immediately takes you over. You find there is no fast pace, but a relaxed slower pace in getting seated. Service is slow and friendly. The food makes it all worth the wait. Everything was prepared perfectly all the way through desert. One of the best experiences we've had in a while

Perry's is the most ridiculously overpriced restaraunt I have ever been to! The prices would have been acceptable to me if the food was worth it, but I was served the worst cobb salad in the world! Let me just tell you, the turkey on the cobb was so dry that it hurt my mouth to even chew it, and to add to that, some of the turkey was green (I would hate to be at the Perry's home on Thanksgiving!). The menu is sparse and needs revising, the wait staff was less than helpful, and the only thing Perry's has going for it is atmosphere.

The worst thing I can say about Perry's is they close too early! Excellent food, even better desserts. Outdoor dining in good weather can't be beat, especially after dark -- the ambience is wonderful.

I grew up in the Alameda area and we went to Hambuger Patti's (the old name of it) on a regular basis. Things have definitely changed! When I was growing up they used to make THE BEST Fresh Banana Milkshakes and it's now gone so upscale you can't even order one anymore. It used to be a family type restaurant and I certainly can't imagine taking my children there now. The prices have also skyrocketed. On my recent visit I had a Taco Salad, which was quite good, but it should be for almost $15! The Cosmopolitan I had to drink was the BEST I HAVE EVER HAD!! It came in a large glass and was delicious. There wasn't anyone in the lobby when we arrived and we waited for awhile before anyone noticed us. Overall, it was a nice experience, but I miss the old days.

When my husband and I first moved to NE PDX we fell in love with Perry's. The food is excellent, particularily the chicken pot pie, an upscale version of a classic. We have sampled a great deal of the menu and have never once had even a mediocre meal. Th ambience is comfortable, service impeccable and the desserts are amazing. There aren't enough positive adjectives for Perry's. Highly recommended. p.s. Tuesday night Spaghetti special is cheap and tasty.

We call it "Can'ts" because we've been told by the wait staff a few times in the past that they "can't" do anything out of the ordinary for orders. The service people are uniformly bad except the nice young guy we had last time, which was a surprise. The food is pretty good but overpriced. They have a great patio for drinks and dinner in the late spring and summer. Has a strong following, but you have to put up with a lot so we only go there when we're up for the battle.
