5 Stars: By far, the best coffee in town! (by Bruce R.)

This delightful shop in the heart of Old Newberg has done a remarkable job of taking an old building with atmosphere and turning it into a great coffee shop and bookstore. Their attention to detail and intensive staff training have resulted in coffee drinks that rival and, in many cases exceed, Stumptown, their Portland roaster. The staff are friendly and pay attention to detail and the owner is a delightful woman who has balanced a professional approach with a family business.

5 Stars: Friendly environment! (by Jereme P.)

I'm new to the area from Seattle. I must say over the last 3 months or so going in there at least once a week has been pleasant each time. Busy or not, service is always with a smile! I will go out of my way to get tea or coffee from Chapters. From the owners to the staff, I truly enjoy you all, a big Thanks! -Jereme P.

5 Stars: I love the place (by Ggirl M.)

I go to the Chapters Books coffee shop at least twice every week, they have amazing employees. Several young ladies and few handsome guys. At the first glance I thought two of the ladies seemed bitchy, but I was wrong. All the girls and guys who work there are great, they are so friendly and fun. They can really cheer up your day when you are feeling down. When it comes to their drinks I am addicted to their white chocolate mocha, I buy it at least twice a week and it is exactly the same every time - amazing! Never too sweet or too bitter, not too cold not too hot - always perfect!I spend a lot of money in total there, but it's totally worth it. And I love the atmosphere there, it's such a cozy and a nice place. Young lady :)

1 Stars: Horrible! (by Stephen D.)

After waiting for 20 minutes in line I finally make it to the counter only to meet this snotty, blatantly rude Barista taking my order. I spit out my awkwardly hesitant order and wait another what seemed like 30 minutes for my espresso. During this time I observe this class act Barista make my coffee while she complains to her co-worker about my order ( 2% latte ). I guess cutting whole milk with non fat was too much to ask for. When I finally receive my drink I was so thankful this experience was over... Until I took my first sip. It tasted like pure charcoal mixed with burned milk. I decided to cut my losses and go to one of the other several coffee shops in this town while I was staying there.

2 Stars: TRULY DISAPOINTING (by Dan M.)

They used to have fantastic coffee, but the last year or so it has gone way downhill. I can't remember the last time I got a drink that I didn't throw away. I respect Stumptown (Their Coffee Provider) but if you want to see it completetly desecrated, go here. It blows my mind how they can take such a fantastic roast and make it taste like crap.

5 Stars: Chapters! (by A. C.)

Chapters is a wonderful little coffee shop that has amazing drinks, great service and an awesome atmosphere. Chapters meets and exceeds all of my expectations every time i go there. No coffee shop in newberg has better coffee than Chapters. prices are good, and the service is always good and friendly. Also a great place to meet with friends, just hang out and read a book, or sit and do homework. I would certainly reccomend them.

5 Stars: Sometimes I drive from Bend to visit Chapters (by Joel M.)

I love black coffee, espresso macchiatos, mochas, and tea, and there is no cafe I enjoy so much as Chapters. I have never found a better product coupled with a good atmosphere in any of the locations I have lived or traveled. The staff is kind, personable, and self-respecting, and I have traveled from my home city of Bend just for one of their macchiatos. I'm not big on the bookstore aspect, so I was glad to see some books disappear in favor of more seating. I bring my own book and enjoy the coffee and the atmosphere. The confluence of Stumptown, Wi-Fi, the atmosphere, and the staff makes Chapters unbeatable.

4 Stars: Great Coffee (by J K.)

I am a coffee addict and love to try quaint coffee shops. I've been travelling the states and I have yet to find better tasting coffee. It is true that their service in time and friendliness could improve. They could also hire another person to shelve books. However, it is a great place to hang out, check emails, study, or read.

4 Stars: The Best Coffee in Town (by Kim M.)

I don't know what Anonymous is talking about. EVERYONE I know agrees that Chapters makes the best espresso drinks in Newberg. Stumptown is the best that there is around, especially considering how many bad coffee shops there are in town. The service is typically slow, which fits with everyone else around Newberg anyway...I don't like it, but that's the sad reality. I appreciate how much seating there is (usually). More books would definitely be better, but it is unrealistic to compare them to Powell's, Borders or any other giant store. It is Newberg after all, where Fred Meyer is the biggest thing around. Chapters is quaint and satisfying, and again, the coffee is well worth the wait.

2 Stars: Chapters Newberg, OR (by erin m.)

Ever since Chapters changed owners it has not been a place I like to frequent. The atmospere in the store is cold and univiting. It used to be that you would walk in and there were little quiet areas to check out the books or drink your coffee. Now there is one big open space with no privacy for perusing novels. They also have greatly diminished the amount of books they have on hand. Yet there's a huge shelf against one wall with thousands of books and a huge sign that says "not for sale, employees only" - That is a huge turn off to me. Put the books on the shelves, let me read them or even buy them! I would rather head to Goodwill, buy a book for $.99, go through a drive-thru for a coffee and sit in my car and read instead of heading into Chapters.

PROS: none
CONS: cold atmosphere and employees, limited merchandise

4 Stars: Cute, Local New & Used Books & Espresso - Hang Out! (by Jen W.)

Right on the corner you'll find Chapters Books, which also has an espresso bar inside and plenty of tables and connections for laptops. A frequently visited location by nearby George Fox University students and business people, when you drive by you'll often see the tables full of folks on laptops or girlfriends meeting for a latte. They're selection of books is not bad for the small size, but they're mission is equally books and espresso. The coffee's pretty good and the service is friendly and quick. If you're looking for a comfortable, clean and stylish place to study, meet or do business in Yamhill County, go straight to Chapters.

PROS: Location, ambiance, espresso, new & used books, service
CONS:
