I have heard good things about beaches and was VERY disappointed when I went. I gave beaches a second chance and the food and drinks were still terrible. For all you picky people out there who actually want decent food, I wouldn't count on it here. Bland fish, overdone steaks and the drinks...don't get me started. My husband and I paid 8-10 bucks on a glass of watered down juice when we really wanted a couple Cadillac margaritas. But...on a brighter note, I will say that the servers are very friendly and the view is alright :)

Had dinner there last Saturday. Ordered a Filet Mignon med-well....for $22.00. It came out of the kitchen as 1/4 inch thick cutlet, 5 inches across, cooked charred and white inside. To make matters worse the squash was under cooked and could not be cut with a knife, and the garlic mashed potatoes were a glop on the plate.
Don't go!

I love Beaches location right on the Columbia, and for the most part their food is pretty good. They have quite a lot to offer on their menu, which almost makes it too difficult when it comes time to order. I would recommend it to someone who is looking for something different, but isn't a place I would frequent on a regular basis.

We went here for a friends birthday dinner. There was no waiting for our seats for an hour over our reservation time like we usually have to do for our birthday dinners at other local establishments. We were seated right away. Our waitress picked up on the names of people at our table. Our beverage glasses never went empty, food was on time and PERFECT!!! We had a party of 16 people. The bonus... they didn't FORCE a 15% gratuity on us... because I wasn't forced to tip I tipped very generously...Plus our server was the best I've had in a long time.... I highly recommend
Plus they made a special menu with the daily specials and put our friends name on the banner of it!!!

This was a great experience for celebrating my sister's birthday, her name was on the big chalk board when we came through the door, we had reserved the "charity table" and what a great time, she was seated in a special chair indicating she was the birthday girl, the manager came over and greeted us and they gave her a cute ceramic flip flop sandle with a candle in it as a gift as we were leaving. Food was good, hot and tasty. We passed on dessert. I would highly recommend this place and will go back, especially for special occasions.

My boyfriend and I went there, he had loved it in the past, and my visit was the first time! The happy hour menu is smaller, but the food for the value tastes awesome! My boyfriend just loves his chicken wings and for a few bucks you get a small order of wings, that he absolutely loved! He ordered a few of them that night!
I just got a quesadilla, which although was a little dry in some spots, had great flavor! We always had water, and the bartender was great! They had a cobbler desert that tasted terrific a la mode... the ice cream and special apple mixture was a melt in your mouth treat. Some reviews on here seem a little bad, but like they went when it was busy and expected immediate service. HA! Good luck finding that ANYWHERE! But Beaches has great servers and fantastic food, and as you've heard, a WONDERFUL VIEW.

This restaurant has a large variety of food and it has a great creme brulee that I love and which you can bareky find at a restaurant. The ambiance is great for a family or parties. I would recomend this to everyone I know.

This place has the best happy hour from 4-6 every day and even a late night from 9-10 Sun & Mon and 10-11 the rest of the week. They even have a full burger for 2.99, and don??t forget the hot Browne with vanilla ice cream for 1.99. I always get the Browne but I get it with the beaches only almond Roca ice cream. But if you really want a great dessert try the B52 cake. (Make sure someone can share it with you)

Another interesting thing is they will substitute almost anything without charging you.

Just to let you know the map above is wrong here is the correct address:

This is one of our favorite places to go especially in the summer months..nothing can beat the opportunity to sit right by The Columbia River. My favorite thing to order is their beaches soup and salad, the price is so reasonable, and the food is delicious.

Beaches has extremely good food, but nothing can beat the atmosphere. The decorations are exquisite and the service is great. It sits right on the shore of the Columbian river and is a perfect place to eat particularly on beautiful days. I highly recommend this place.

Beaches is right on the river and the view is beautiful. I have been there a couple times and it is always very busy with decent service for as crowded as it has been. Food is very good and they have a huge assortment of meals with a big selection of appetizers and fresh seafood.

Beaches absoulutely wowed my husband and I. These people are the true experts on customer service. We made a reservation and the manager who handled the call recommended the Charity table. They actually hold the best table in the house for kids in need. So of course we took it and when we arrived we were seated immediately buy a very friendly, pretty hostess. Once we were seated our server came over very quickly and introduced himself and asked our names. He talked us into the Nori Tuna. It came out in a flash. I forgot to mention the perfect drink I had, it was some kind of succulent strawberry Martini. The Martini was chilled to perfection and went down way too smooth. Oh my God, I haven't even mentioned the perfect view! The owner even stopped by. I can't say enough about this place, but I'm out of room! JUST GO PEOPLE!

Review for dinner on 07/06/08. Four out of six water glasses had something floating - disgusting! Drink order was forgotted for 2 people. When forgotten drinks finally came they were wrong drinks. Waiter forgot to take order from 2 people and almost left. Waiter also asked if mashed potatoes would be ok as a side for a pasta dish - ??? Appetizers were delivered, but had to wait for waiter to come by to ask for silverware as table was not set up at all. My knife was completely dirty. Cesar salads were awful - greens not fresh and completely withered and croutons were soggy. One meal had hair in jo jo's. Side of ranch was ordered which came quite quickly, but then another waiter came halfway into the meal with another ranch. Drink refills were forgotten. Steak was ordered medium-well, but was over-cooked to a charcoal state. Hamburger was ordered without onion - showed up with onion. Not one assigned waiter to our table - a few different waiters tried to help but nobody knew what they were doing. Waiter with drinks kept walking around from table to table asking if they were the people that ordered certain drinks. Food was delivered to the wrong tables. Staff is very disorganized and nobody seems to know what they are doing. Three out of the six of us got sick from this dinner. people who got sick all ate cesar salads and some type of seafood. The other 3 people didn't get sick, but they didn't eat any salads or seafood. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK - DON'T GO TO BEACHES!!! THIS RESTAURANT NEEDS TO BE INSPECTED FOR FOOD QUALITY, FOOD EXPIRATION DATES, AND OVERALL CLEANLINESS.

Pros: Location

Cons: Food & Service

.

The food is okaaaay. The service is a bit slow, it's always crowded, always waiting for a seat. not a lot of variety in the menu, and high prices. portions are not abundant, i'm a small person with a small appetite and I've had meals that left me hungry here. Nice view and nice staff, but just average food and too high prices for what it is.

Beaches is beautiful, with epic views of the water from any table in the restaurant. Once the food arrives you may or may not be singing a different tune. Standard fare rounds out the menu in triumphant mediocrity. You may never know it if you're from out of town. It's much like an upscaled Red Robin, with seafood in place of the burgers and a lot less flare. The catfish served over a bed of mashed garlic potatoes was not a dinner I would complain about or one I write off as spectacular. My wife was pleasantly happy with the Seared Ahi Tuna, which was crusted the way Ahi is supposed to be, but delivered as an entire slab of uncut fish. Again, the gripes are minuscule, but overall they paint a picture of average quality. Perhaps they just do to much of everything; Pizza, Fish, Steak, Pasta, BBQ, Pan-Asian, and even a small Hawaiian offering create one melting pawt(Citysearch won't let me spell it correctly for fear of telling you about a certain herb) of a menu. All done with the same standard decency as the next; but c'mon, Udon noodles and miso? It's a little overkill, on the same page you can spot Oahu pulled pork rest "Thai inspired" dishes and fish and chips. If they had a focus they might find their niche, it might as well be seafood since they're right on the water. Then again, they might lose a little of the charm, I guess the idea is that no matter your craving you can get something decent to satisfy it. There's a bevy of hotels nearby and I imagine Beaches caters to their needs. It's a great location and it offers more variety than the adjacent McMenamins. Service was great, food was prompt, we didn't have any mistakes in our meals. That's just it, there's nothing bad you can say about Beaches, but on the same coin there's nothing I can stamp out as a reason to go back. Even this writeup has become mediocre: Good for tourists. ;)

Pros: The view of the water

Cons: Similar to price and quality of Red Robin or Olive Garden (not a plus in my book.)

Yes, Beaches is noisy. Yes, Beaches is crowded. Yes, Beaches has a beautiful view. It is what it is. They do an outstanding job of taking care of the crowd with excellent service, great food and drinks. If there is ever a problem with the food or drink just let them know and they will take care of it. I have gone to beaches for two years and have had only one time there was a problem and it was immediately taken care of with no questions asked and they were happy to take care of it. I highly recommend Beaches. Its the best place in town for a fun time out.

My husband and I really enjoy Beaches, the food, the drinks and the view are all wonderful. They have a great variety on their menu but one of my favorites is a big bowl of the bean soup. Great way to warm up and enjoy a meal on a cool day. We haven't had anything that we were unhappy with and we've tried a lot!

I went to Beaches with a few friends last week, looking for a relaxed evening with good drinks and good food. We were incredibly disappointed at Beaches. We'd heard good things, but after waiting for 40 minutes for an inside seat on a weekday night, then waiting another 30 minutes to get a drink order taken, then waiting another hour for our food to come, having them mess up our orders, and redeliver the same messed up orders a half hour later, we were ready to throw in the towel. When we finally got our food, it was disappointing, too. I paid way too much for a grisly piece of chicken with anemic vegetables, and my date was served a sad looking limp salad. The entire atmosphere was chaotic and we left feeling stressed and still hungry. Beaches might be a good place to go for a lively after-work round of drinks, but it definitely is not a good place to go for a relaxed fine dining experience.

Beaches has something for everyone! Great food with plenty of choices, good drinks, a beautiful view of the Columbia River and Interstate Bridge, a fun atmosphere, (we love the clever autograph books), and exceptional service. BUT the one thing no one has mentioned in the other reviews is the
to-die-for Almond Roca Dessert!! Oh my gosh, this wonderful delicacy is almost difficult to put into words. They start with a crisp (bowl shaped) toffee/almond shell, two scoops of delicious vanilla/toffee ice cream, a generous squirt of chocolate, and a delectable ginger laced stick cookie. Add a cup of their great coffee, and you'll be wishing you had skipped dinner so you could have eaten two of these!! In reality, it's probably best to share this dessert, unless of course you didn't eat dinner. We have never been too full to pass on this memorable dessert. One bite, and you'll be hooked!

The service and food are great all year but Beaches really pulls out the stops when the Christmas Ships [www.ChristmasShips(dot)org] are on parade. The view of the Columbia River is wonderful on a clear day but when bespeckled with illuminated performance art, the scene is magical. Will be back to Beaches several times a year sez Arr - Roger & Linda [CShip(dot)RoLin(dot)US]

Nice place to go on a sunny day. The food is good, although I think it's a little expensive but you're paying for the riverfront view. The Carne Adobada is really good and the taquito appetizer never disappoints.

This is a great standby resturarant, no matter what you order it is very good food. Love their happy hour, what a bargin! Great drinks, good food, friendly staff, great service, what more could you ask for! It gets noisy in the bar, but it is a fun place. They have absolutley great burger, awesome clam Chowder - every Friday, along with very good Chopino, (Italian fish stew) and the blue plate special is always great!
Very Good!

You have to get the flaming wings. They are so great and they come to your table on fire! Great service. The salads are always a good choice not to mention grabbing a drink from there bar. The long Island Ice tea is very strong and I can't handle much more than one! Enjoy!

PROS: the wings, drinks, food
CONS: a bit expensive

The dining atmosphere at Beaches is great! I love that they're located on the Columbia River and offer inside and outside dining. The enticing aroma as I walked on the riverfront originally drew me in. I shared a varied appetizer plate that was delicious. We received personalized service, enjoyed the upbeat atmosphere, and ate excellent food. I thought the prices were a bit high, but oh well...

Beaches is the best restaurant in Vancouver. They have the best happy hour anywhere (and everyone knows it, because it gets extremely crowded), with $3 entrees (yes, entrees, not just appetizers, though in smaller portions) and $2 drinks. Their garlic mashed potatoes are to die for, as are their homemade salsa, wood-oven pizza, caesar salad, garlic chicken, and bread pudding (actually, their entire dessert menu is wonderful). Beaches has a varied menu--lots of seafood but a large selection of American food, too. Entrees are $12-25. It's right on the Columbia River and it's great to sit outside in the summer (though lucky you if you can get a table out there). They take reservations and you'd be smart to make one if you're planning on a weekend dinner there.

PROS: Great location on the river, excellent happy hours (4-6, 9-close)
CONS: Gets really crowded, long wait times w/o reservation

Never a dull or boring evening when you go to the beach. The food is good, the happy hour price and hours that it's available is great and the service is upbeat and personable. Not to mention the location. As they say, LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. The view is spectacular from just about every seat and the outdoor seating is wonderful (weather permitting). If the kitchen were ever to be slow (not my personal experience), and your company dull and un-talkative you wouldn't notice as you can always gaze out at the water or watch the passersby on the esplanade that runs in front along the riverbank. As a mother, I love the treats that come with the kids meal and keeping my babies entertained so I can eat and drink (higher profits for them).

a good and fun place for families -- great wait people -- unique dishes -- fair wine list and good
other drinks -- watch the boats go by on the coloumbia river

WOW! This destination is a 'must visit' in my book.

The many times that my wife and I have been there the food has been exceptional. Included in this were simple things such as the house salad dressing, the bow tie pasta and the oven fired pizza. There hasn't been one meal that has been returned for any reason.

The service was always warm and inviting, even on holidays such as July 4th when they're overly busy. Christmas is a extra special time with the front row seat view of the Christmas Ships.

Catering specifically to children with a choice of toys from the 'toy chest' hits the spot with the young ones. Parking is more then ample.

The only drawback is the noise level. It can get a little loud, but all the positives can easily make up for it.

What a great addition to Murray Hill's new shopping center! Walk through the door and get ready to be paid attention to. The host/hostess is smiling and seems genuinely glad you're there. The server is knowledgable and friendly -- and quick! Linger over a nice lunch or dinner and then...write a few lines in the servers "memory book". I'm guessing you'll write something like, "Thank you for making this dining experience is comfortable and nice".

My girlfriend and I live in Portland Oregon. We ate dinner at Beaches in Vancouver on at Saturday at 5pm. We did not have reservations. We were seated promptly. The staff was courteous. My girlfriend enjoyed the greek chicken and I really enjoyed the Pacific Rockfish. The garlic mashed potatoes are a great complement to the rockfish. The lemonade was a little to sugary. However, my girlfriend and I had a very pleasant dining experience. We sat at the window and had a nice view on the Columbia.

This place really has one of the best dining views around the city. To bad that the food does not match the splendor of the view. In any case, its a great summertime destination. If you can, get a table outside, it will make up for the food. Servers are well trained and the restaurant is nicely designed.

We were extremely impressed with the personal service and attention at Beaches; it's so rare to find these days. Our waiter Levi was completely accomodating to our special food requests. We'll be back VERY SOON for delicious food! Highly recommened! You won't be dissappointed!

Beaches strikes the best balance for parents who want to both see their children entertained while, at the same time, enjoying a nice meal with their significant other. At the same time, Beaches is a great escape for sitting down to a business lunch or dinner. Service is great and the food and atmosphere is marvelous.
