Delectable. The sustenance is among the best Thai I've had having existed here and there the west drift. I can just recall one restaurant in Seattle that was as delightful. Most likely the best in Portlan.\r

I am writing this review from Thailand. I visited Thai Lahnna a little over 2 weeks ago and the food compares very favorably with food we had last night, although, as you would expect, a little more expensive than Thailand. :)

The green curry was very runny and just tasted like coconut milk and the rice was way over cooked. The Pad thai was almost inedible. I had to drench it in chili sauce to get it down. The tofu has an odd taste to it. I the restaurant was cute inside but the food was really pretty bad and disappointing.

The setting is nice, elegant with outdoor seating. The food was very good, especially the curry. Thai ice tea was very good and the owners made an effort to come and say hello. The menu prices are reasonable and serve beer/wine if requested. The menu items have a good variety with noodles and soups with great appetizers to complement the menu. I would recommend as I have tasted many Thai restaurants within the area and this one hits the mark. Enjoy.....

A co-worker recommended this place so I thought I'd try it out. I've eaten there several times and the food always has a made-from-scratch taste to me... My girlfriend loves the peanut sauce ( it's lick the plate good) and I like the rice dishes. I personally stuck my head in the kitchen to compliment the cook and they were Thai so I can say it's AUTHENTIC Thai food... There's a decent selection of brews and wine too so I like to enjoy a great dinner there on the weekend after a long work week. I just wish I didn't live so far away.

Cool restaurant in Historic house in my near by neighborhood. I love all the special orders. They use really quality and fresh ingredients. Good food and reasonable price!!!! Moreover, friendly and good service.

I'd love to know which competing restaurant owner typed in the last two grammatically poor (and just mean) reviews slamming this restaurant! They were obviously typed by the same English-challenged typist with a very wide mean streak.

I moved to the Portland area just over two years ago from Seattle. Seattle has some of the best Thai restaurants in the the US. I've also been to Thailand, and I'm a skilled home-chef. Okay, I'm a FOODIE. I'm FIFTY and I've been eating Thai food for 30 years.

I won't list the disappointments I've found in Oregon by name. With one exception, the 'Thai' restaurants I've eaten at - I won't bless them with 'dined at' - were absolute CRAP. Buying the plastic containers of various generic Thai curries at the restaurant supply store and tossing in some veg and meat does NOT constitute Thai Cuisine.

Thai Lahnna offers superb food. The Salad Rolls are to DIE for. My test for a Thai restaurant - can you put out the Tom Kah Gai? Hell, yes, Thai Lahnna puts it DOWN. The Pumpkin Curry is amazing, and the Mango Sticky Rice is orgasmic.

This restaurant has been in business for five years, and continues to succeed even in this sinkhole of an economy. If they served awful food for five years, would they still be around? I think not.

Oh, and we drive from Beaver Town to Sellwood just to eat THERE. So bite me, little nasty man.

they charge extra for things you didnt even ask for
And I can make better thai food at home in 5 minutes with a few spices, lemongrass, lime leaves, ginger, tomatoes, onions, veggies....
and no recipe book, no training

these people dont know how to cook and should not have a restaurant
a waste of money and calories
I have ordered these dishes dozens of times in various thai restaurants and this place is the worst

After hearing several good things about Thai Lahnna my girlfriend and I went there for dinner last night.\r
The food was exceptional and extremely authentic. Some of the BEST tasting balanced but spicy Tom Yum soup I have ever had. The owner came to our table to make sure everything was to our satisfaction and she was fun to talk too. I like my Thai food hot, and am usually disappointed at the hotness level I get at most Thai restaurants, however it was a pleasant suprise to actually get a really hot spicy dish, consider this your warning hot means HOT! It is situated in the downstairs living/dining room of an old historic victorian house in Sellwood. A perfect dinner setting, made me feel allmost at home. I will defaintely be back!\r

Some friends and I went here on a Friday night. We all enjoyed our meals immensely. I had the cashew chicken and it was really delicious. Our wonton appetizer and fried banana dessert was also delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and the service decent. I will definitely be going back.

Pros: Really great food in a lovely little restaurant

There are so many things I love about this place. The Thai food is fabulous and they pay a lot of attention to the quality and presentation. The restaurant is spotless and the owner and servers are the friendliest in town. I try to go to this lovely spot at least a couple times a month. If you are looking for great Thai food and some cozy atmosphere, this is the place. I highly recommend their salad rolls and soups.

We are always searching for the next great Thai food place, and this is it! Our first experience was take-out and we thought the food was great, but we were really amazed when we ate at the restaurant. The service was great, the staff friendly, and the food was the best we've had since being in Thailand. The dishes all taste authentic, with the flavors rich and fragrant, but not overpowering like we often experience. The pumpkin curry was especially good, as was the Pad Khee Mao noodle dish. The portions were generous and the prices reasonable. The only bad thing is that we live too close and will be too tempted to forgo cooking and just go out to Thai food...

Every dish was fresh and delicious. The sauces were rich and layered with flavors. I can't say enough about this place -- we are so glad to have found it and will enjoy the outside front patio all summer long.

We go out to thai every week. After trying Thai Lahnna - we are not sure if we will go anywhere else! The food is prepared to perfection and very authentic. The array of curry dishes are amazing. My husband and I have made a pact to try everything on the menu - because everything we've tried so far has been so good. The wine enthusiast will not be disappointed - the list is wonderful. It's located in a beautiful historic home in the popular Sellwood Neighborhood. You can't miss it - it has an excellent patio area out front that is perfect for a romantic summer evening. This is not your typical Thai!! We are sure to enjoy it all year round.

Thai Lahnna was the first restaurant we discovered after moving to SE Portland about 10 months ago. Since then, we have eaten there about once a week. Great Thai food including the Pad Thai and curry dishes. Excellent service and very reasonable prices in a lovely little historic house in Sellwood - not your usual strip mall restaurant. The owner/chef Nah and her staff are welcoming and friendly and the food is GREAT!

Thai Lahnna serves up some of the best Thai food I have had in years. Their preparations are traditional, yet are highlited by fresh ingredients and almost perfect balance in their dishes. The Pad Kee Mow was spicy and laden with fresh sweet basil. A must try is the Angel Wings appetizer a true original and executed perfectly.

I love Thai food and I was disappointed when I visited this place. The seating too crowded; felt as if I was dining with the table next to me. Food very oily; gone to many Thai restaurants and thai food typically isn't supposed to have that much oil. And service was slow... had to look up in search for the staff a few times just to replenish my water! The one good thing I can say about this place is that the presentation of the food is something you can probably see on a gourmet television show. Other than that, not that big of a deal. Would not recommend.

First our waitress forgot we were in her section. Then she brought me the wrong dish and was not in the least bit apologetic when I pointed it out. Two seconds later she brought out a new dish that seemed like the same thing slightly modified. My husband's massaman was decent but my red curry (or whatever it was) had a peanut rather than coconut base and was too sweet and thick. The wild rice, served with white, did not go with the food at all. The tofu was dry and tasteless and the vegetables were completely unappealing. The music was an odd mix of 40's jazz and hits from the 80's. I wouldn't go again.

We may have to go back to truly judge this place, but I can say the lunch buffet on weekends isn't all that special.
I think it was 7 or 8 bucks and serve yourself. Most the bins were low on food and not quickly refilled. Choice was average and don't think either of us found anything we really loved.
Nothing bad, just nothing great. An average spot.
I'll try it again for dinner, but the small size and lackluster staff aren't the driving force behind my decision to try it again.
