Ratings_icons Xpresso Lube offers a bargain if that is all you buy

Glenn D.

I've been taking my cars to Xpresso for years. They try to sell me something extra almost every time and I never buy it. They always accept my no without further discussion so I'm not sure that is high-pressure sales. Occasionally, I send my wife or mother there when I don't have time and I know having to say no bothers them a little. The fact is the information they give you even if you don't buy additional services from Xpresso is occasionally helpful. And, $19.99 for an oil change and wash is a bargain. So, bargain price and good courteous service, what can be wrong with that.

Ratings_icons Xpresso Lube is misleading their customers

frantisek k.

When I went to this shop for an oil change for the first time, the mechanic convinced me that I should switch from conventional oil to synthetic. He told me that it would significantly improve the gas mileage. Unfortunately, that did not happen. The fuel consumption did not change by any noticeable degree. During my next visit, I asked if I could switch back to the conventional oil but the Xpresso lube mechanic told me that switching from synthetic to conventional oil would cause problems to the engine. Since I did not know if this was true or not I went with his recommendation and stayed with a synthetic oil. When I checked this issue on the web, I quickly discovered that the mechanic was giving me an incorrect information. I'm not sure how much more profitable it's for them to sell synthetic oil to their customers but I feel that, over time, misleading their customers may be quite costly to their business.

Xpresso Lube provides good service. I have been taking my cars there for years and no complaints. They take No gracefully, and offer to explain what they found, so I can think about it for the next visit. I haven't tried the espresso and I don't drink the oil. I do tru st these guys to do the job correctly and at a fair price.

Ratings_icons Xpresso Lube is lacking customer service

J Y.

They're cheaper than Jiffy Lube but their customer service sucks. Joe, one of their lead guys, is an arse and not customer friendly at all. Just got an oil change and will be taking my business elsewhere.

Ratings_icons BUYER BEWARE!

Random R.

First, Don't Bring your 60k dollar car to xpresso lube. obviously you cannot afford maintenance, and you paid too much money for it in the first place. Second, READ YOUR OWNERS MANUAL. If you had spent even 10k dollars on a machine you had better read the damn manual. this especially applies to all the BMW and Lexus owners who think they bought something special but they don't know how to operate anything. "could you please rest my oil light? I'm too stupid to read my owners manual. and if you think that an oil change has anything to do with you old ass Mercedes leaking oil, guess what, its a 10 year old machine that you failed to maintain in the first place because your either living beyond your means or your too cheap but still have something to prove. And finally. If you use crappy parts made in china instead of factory OEM Parts to save a couple of bucks. Guess what! you get what you pay for!! the material is cheaper! the workmanship is cheaper! Do you really think your getting the same quality? hell no! READ THE LAWS. READ YOUR OWNERS MANUAL. BUYER BEWARE, NOT BE AN IDIOT!

Ratings_icons They did more damage than repairs!

Dale J.

I purchased a used car recently and brought it to Xpresso Lube for an oil change and a quick check of everything else under the hood. They told me the radiator needed to be flushed, and everything would be fine. I let them do it, and for the next week I had to fill it up with coolant once a day.

I brought it back in to the shop and they pointed out a leak in my radiator. Harold says "Well, if you look here, it is OBVIOUS blah blah blah..." I asked him that if it was so obvious, why they didn't tell me about it the first time. He stumbled around and didn't give me an answer, or a refund for the flush that actually damaged the radiator more than it was before!

If you just need an oil change, they're OK. Just don't let them talk you into any other services. I will not go back!

Ratings_icons Car Scratched

John F.

I just had my car serviced at Xpresso Lube 5/7/09. I ran my car through the car wash and when I got home realized I had several large scratches down the right side of my car. They were closed when I tried to call. I'll call tomorrow, but I'm concerned they won't accept responsibility for it. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Ratings_icons great service, trust worthy people.

fuck u.

i take my car here all the time and i'm happy to see that the people who look at my car know what they're looking for especially on my 2001 buick regal, they let me know that my intake manifold gasket was leaking and my car only has 23000 miles on it, now when i heard this i was irate but then the technition that was helping me, i think his name was micah atleast thats what his jacket said, explaind the reason as to why my manifold gasket was leaking. Aparently since 1997 GM has been using this coolant called "DEX-COOL" i guess this coolant has been causing gaskets, hoses, and other things to start leaking among other problems too. Now he explained to me that at the shop they can repair these things on my vehicle but then he went to tell me that you can find places on the internet that will fix these problems for FREE. You see there was a class action lawsuit filed agenst GM addressing this matter, and Gm has made a settlment. So instead of suckering me into some $800 job on my car with 23000 miles on it he refured me to an alternet cheap way to fix my problem. this is a shop that i will take all my cars to, I have told all my freinds and family about this place and i will gladly say that i can trust them with my vehicles and i would you would to.

Ratings_icons All I want is an OIL CHANGE

Chucky M.

When I go to get my OIL CHANGED, I want my OIL CHANGED...period!!! I don't need the guy changing my oil to bring me a list of 20 things going wrong under the hood, while I'm enjoying a cup of coffee in the waiting room. Most of us have a trusted mechanic for that. Don't touch anything...just CHANGE THE OIL!

Ratings_icons Service Gone Down Hill --> Still way better than Jiffy Lube

Rich E.

I've been going to this cool little place over the past three years to have the oil and other fluids changed for several of my cars and (for the most part) have always really liked it. I must say that their service and attention to detail has definitely gone down hill over that time. That being said, they are still way better than that hole in the wall Jiffy Lube down the street.

From my experience, here is how you can get the best service from Xpresso Lube in Cedar Mill:
1) Always visit during off hours. When it's busy they seem to forget things (checking for burned out lights, tire pressure, vacuuming, etc.) and spend much less time on the car-wash pre-wash.
2) Be courteous and nice. They are good people, but like anyone they respond better and treat you better when you are nice to them.
3) Use these guys for what they are: an oil change place. Don't expect the best value and best work for brakes, tune up, or anything else which is more than changing fluids. It would be like ordering a Filet Mignon from McDonald's. I have a small full service automotive shop out in Hillsboro that I use for things bigger than oil changes and fluids.

PROS: Fast, great waiting room, friendly people who aren't too high pressure, good prices. Much better than Jiffy Lube.

CONS: Service and attention to detail has been going down -- more noticeable when they are busy.

Ratings_icons Xpresso Lube not safe

Bill D.

The technicians just want to sell you more services. They are unable to perform basic oil changes without correctly and safely replacing parts. The business is more concerned with revenue and pushing customers through than giving consumers honest, necessary repairs and/or service with integrity.
Go somewhere else if you want your car to be worked on by competent service technicians.

Ratings_icons Long time customer

Lani A.

My husband and I have been bringing our cars here for many years and really enjoy all the services provided with their low price for oil change. The quick vacuum isn't super great, but it's nice to get a little of the gunk off the floor! Love that they include the car wash. On occasion, we have used them to service our cars (coolant flushes, change wipers, replace lamps, etc.) and have no complaints. They get busy, so they can take longer than other places, but the waiting area is nice, and I have been able to use free wi-fi connections there.

Ratings_icons Good Job at a Fair Price

Mark S.

I brought my 2001 Caravan in for an oil change and nothing else. I'm tired of Jiffy Lube's pushy sales. They did the job at the quoted price, told me what else was recommended with no pressure to buy. My only complaint, it took longer than expected. In all fairness, there were 8 other cars there, I was number 6 so, I'm not unhappy. Their technician did show me a fluid drop card (drops on a white card) which told me a lot (ok, I'm an engineer). Jiffy lube doesn't do that. The free car wash is a pretty basic wash. If the guy doing pre-wash is good with a brush, your wash is good. If he isn't, then neither is the wash.

As for scratches, if the side washes pick up anything from preceeding cars, your's gets scratched. Same for the mitter (thing that drags over the top of the car). My guess is that's what happened to the guy who said his 2007 was scratched buy this wash. The manager did a very poor job of dealing with the customer he's probably a rookie.

I'll go there again. They did a good job at a fair price.

Ratings_icons Great service

Ashley H.

I have to been to Xpresso Lube many times with my car and I have never had a bad experience. I have never been pressured by them to buy the extras, which Jiffy Lube is ridiculously pressuring. I have had my brakes done, which they guarantee; as well as different fixes under the hood. They have always been very reasonably priced and trustworthy. It is sad to see so many negative reviews of this place, because I am sure there are five times as many positive ones! I am actually on my way over today!

Ratings_icons Dysfuntional

Bill S.

I took my car in for an oil change, first they told me they didn't have my filter and they would order it. then some said they do and it was a common filter. Then they didn't have the right type of oil to go in my car so they just put something else in the car. They also told me they would vacuum the car, but i think they need a new vacuum or person to vacuum. The guys in the shop were all yelling and snapping towels. It just seemed very disorganized and out of control. The price draws you in but the service makes you ask questions.

Ratings_icons Scratching Car Wash

Bob W.

I ran my 2007 Yukon XL through their car was on 10/05/07and it resulted in multiple scratches down both sides of my truck. I spoke to the General Manager and he took no responsibility for it. He said it must be the poor paint quality of the vehicle. He then just turned and walked away. I'm very disappointed with their professionalism and inability to stand behind their service.

Ratings_icons Like a kick in the head

They suggested/strongly to my wife that she needed an engine treatment to remove dirty oil. $35.00 , she declined. They failed to add Brake, ATF, Windshield, Coolant fluids to the car. We mysteriously picked up a large automotive sheet metal screw in the tread on that visit.

Not a fan, will never go again. Better to pay for your car wash! elsewhere.

Ratings_icons Xpresso Lube 12750 Nw Cornell Rd !!!!WARNING!!!

Sam E.

We paid more then twice the estimate (Which they claimed was not a "Guaranteed price estimate") and I am shocked by what I feel is an out right lie on their part. The brakes on my vehicle malfunctioned minutes after leaving the shop. I sent an email to the states attorney generals office who is now looking in to this matter and the Washington county police are now involved in this issue as well . The brakes are now squeaking when your stoping after almost $800.00 worth of work and parts & approximately 6 weeks later. I feel that they are a Big Time Con!! I feel like I was treated very poorly by their mangerment. I feel that Using them to fix your car may wind up getting you killed! I am not kidding. I feel you should best avoid them.

Ratings_icons Very thorough check ups

Marcy T.

Of the many lube shops out there, this is by far one of the best. The staff is thorough, friendly, and honest. No appointment needed, just drive up, and wait in the attached coffee shop, which features a window into the garage area. They check everything and will bring into the waiting area samples of fluids in need of attention so you can decide if you want further servicing at that time. No pressure and usually a free car wash with service. Once you've been in, they will periodically mail coupons for a free car wash AND free espresso drink with the next oil change. They are the best!

PROS: good atmosphere for a oil change shop

Ratings_icons don't give in to pressures

Denise E. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 598

I like have my cars oil changed at expresso lube and they do a great job. But, they can be a bit high pressure on the "extras" which I know I don't need. They are very fair priced and often have coupons.

PROS: low prices
CONS: high pressure
