This place is awesome. We've been to les schwab before when we needed tires on another car. Everything was fine, price was reasonable and it took them no time at all.

This time, I had a slow leak in one of the tires of my vw new beetle. I changed it out for the spare and called to make sure they weren't busy. The girl on the line said to bring her on in! So we did.

We told them what was going on and she said to give them about 30 minutes, they'll call us when they're done (this location is right next to Fred Meyer so we were going to do some grocery shopping while we waited).

We asked them- "Isn't someone going to talk to me about what kind of new tires to get?" The girl was so cute. She just looked at us funny and said, "Don't you just want them to fix it?" To which we replied, "Is that a lot cheaper?" She spoke the magic words, "It's free."
Wow. Seriously? I'm just going to walk in here and have you fix my tire for free and walk out? You guys rock.

And btw, can you knock down the wasp nest in the trunk while you're at it? ;0)

Wow, never again. Avoid at all costs.

You bait and switch me, and then you damage my vehicle.

I needed some snow tires mounted on my wheels. I found a good deal on snow tires at www.tirerack.com. Ever year I've brought my car to this place for tire swapping, every year they've charged me around $50. I even called three Les Schwab centers about appointments, all said it's first come first serve, and now $55 for a tire swap (universal price).

This year? Hah! I drop the car off at 12pm and am quoted $55, so far so good. It's supposed to snow tonight, so it's important that these tires are on the car ASAP.

I get a call at *5:00pm*, "sir there's a problem." They explain that because I didn't buy the tires from them, I have to pay over $100 to have them mounted. I attempt to explain to them that I've always been to their center, and have always paid around $50. The manager, Jeff, will have none of it. He tells me it's $101 or nothing.

What am I supposed to do? I tell them I would have taken it to a different place that charges far less than $25/wheel to mount a tire (10 minute job - total). But now I can't, it's 5pm, going to snow. I ask him am I just supposed to drive the car in the snow and let it slide off the road? Jeff's response? "Yup!"

I explain that his original quote is a complete misrepresentation, and now he's put me in a state of duress because I have to get the work done, all other shops are closed, and I have no choice but to get the tires mounted at $101. He has a grin and is very pleased with himself. He tells me I misrepresented him because they weren't Les Schwab tires - otherwise he'd be happy to charge me $55. How convenient, especially considering this fact was never explained to me before I dropped the car off, and I've had the same work done about four times on tirerack.com purchased tires in the past.

I consider myself a pretty fair minded guy. I even asked him to meet me half way on the price, he refused.

So the money is paid, the work is done, and when we get home we notice a big sharpie-pen marker slash across the glove-box. We know the glove-box was opened because all the papers were thrashed around inside.

Thanks Jeff, you won't be fooling me twice. Beware.

Pros: Their prices sound good.

Cons: Bait and switch much?

I have been buying tires form Les Schwab for many years. I have always been happy with their service. They also provided great service when I have been traveling and have to go to any of their stores in any location thought out the west coast.

I value good service...and Les Schwab delivers. The guys never run to my car like they do in the commericals, but they are reliable...good tires, rotation, alignment...and all is backed with a warranty to fix things that are not right. I appreciate this kind of service!

PROS: Good products and excellent service!
CONS: pricery than the rest
