They Stand Behind Their Product

by Susan S. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 577

We have been buying our tires at Americas Tire Company ever since we had trouble with another major tire chain backing up their product. The sales people at Americas help you find a good deal and aren't pushy at all. You can get an appointment quickly and they have you in and out in no time at all.

Avoid at all costs

In January 2007 I took my car to the America's Tire Company in Tigard to get a slow leak in my passenger front tire fixed. I explained to the assistant manager "Bryan Johnson" that I had a slow leak in the tire and that it would go start to lose air very slowly after a week or so. He said "no problem, we will fix that" and had one of his employees take the car into the work bay. About 15-20min later Bryan came out of the work area and loudly said "Bad News", it can't be fixed. At this point, Bryan told me that there was a nail in a part of the tire that they could not fix, and that now I should buy two new tires. He was already looking up the tires in his computer and he told me that he did not have the tires in stock, and would I like him to order them. I stated that I did not want to be upsold and that if they could not fix my tire, to put it back on my car and I would go somewhere else. At this point he told me "We cannot do that". I said "Why not?" and he told me, because now there is a huge hole in the tire (they drilled a hole in it) and I would not make it out of the lot. I told him that there was not a huge hole when I drove in and the tire would hold air for over a week before I came to see him. He seemed very irritated and just kept asking why I did not want to buy the new tires. When I insisted that I did not want new tires and I asked what I am suppose to do now since they ruined my tire that just had a VERY slow leak he said "we can find a way to disable your all-wheel-drive and put on your donut spare if you do not want to buy the tires from us". This was on the second day of our January snow and ice storm, and I doubt it is safe to even drive on a tiny donut, the tire says to drive straight to a repair facility right on it, but I refused to be pressured into his up sell. At that point he seemed very irritated, and went and talked to his workers and they returned about 20min later with my car with the donut spare.

Pros: None

Cons: Constant upsell, ruin your tires so you cannot go anywhere else.

Very Impressed

by kurzer

The shop is a little hard to find but well worth it. The staff are pleasent and ready to help with anything you need. The waiting room chairs are a bit hard but you don't sit in them long. I'd come in with a printout of some tires I wanted and they didn't carry them. The manager did some magic and ordered them from somewhere I don't know where. I got the price on my printout and the tires were mounted and balanced for free. great service!

Pros: Service, Selection, Staff

Cons: Waiting Chairs
